Dr. Kirk Rathburn of Rathburn Dental, was born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. He received his undergraduate degree in microbiology from Colorado State University and then his dental degree from Creighton University.
In 1988-89, Dr. Rathburn attended a hospital based General Practice Residency (GPR) at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry, where he has also serves as a clinical and didactic instructor since 1992. Currently, Dr. Rathburn lives with his wife and three children in Niwot, CO. He enjoys skiing (both snow and water) golf, hiking, scuba diving, and travel.
I have been in the dental field since 1996. I came to work with Dr. Rathburn in 2016. I hold a degree in Medical Business Administration and am certified in Dental Radiology. The majority of my career was spent in Oral Surgery and Periodontics but I found that General Dentistry is my favorite. I enjoy talking with our patients, getting to know who they are and hearing their stories. When Im not battling insurance companies and getting your claims paid I spend time bike riding, hiking, and traveling.
I have been a dental assistant since 2000 and I have been with Dr. Rathburn since 2007. My greatest joy is providing warm, calming, full service dentistry to my wonderful patients. My greatest joy is raising my two beautiful daughters who really enjoy fishing!
I have been Dr.Rathburns dental hygienist since 1995. A professional goal is providing high quality dental care and developing a personal relationship with each patient. Our dental team has been a pleasure to work with and we strive to make each visit with our office as pleasant as possible. My family and I live in the foothills with too many animals. We enjoy all of my sons activities, skiing, running, and eating as much chocolate as possible.
I graduated from University of the Pacific in California for Dental Hygiene in 2006 and practiced in San Francisco for three years before moving to beautiful Colorado in 2009. I have been working with Dr. Rathburn since 2009 and have appreciated working with such a driven, passionate, and talented team. When I am not practicing dental hygiene, I am spending time appreciating the outdoors with my husband and dog and loving where I live in Lyons.
I have been a dental assistant since 2006 and feel extremely fortunate to be a part of Dr. Rathburns team. Outside of dentistry, I enjoy spending time with my two children, going on a nice road trip and listening to music ( the best is when they all coincide!).

We went for a consult for my 13 yr old son who struggles with anything medical or dental since COVID. Dr Rathburn was compassionate and understanding and listened to my sons issues and concerns. He educated me about the options to safely treat my sons anxiety so he can get the tooth care and cleaning he needs and helped us put together a safe plan to treat him. With over 30 years of experience in dentistry and a teacher at the CU Dental school, I feel confident we are in good hands. The staff at the practice were welcoming and I could see were very happy to be working and helping us as well.

I have gone to Dr. Rathburn for many years and have gladly recommended him to my family and friends. I have lived in many places and had many dentists, and Dr. Rathburn is the most skilled and genuinely kind dentist I have ever worked with. His staff is professional and friendly and their office is a place of suburb medical care, respect and genuine heart. I always feel like they care about me as a person and not just as a patient. If you need a dentist, especially if you are wary of dental procedures, stop looking. These folks will take amazing care of you. There are the best there is.

Dr Rathburn and the staff are incredibly kind and supportive. Dr. Rathburn took time explaining his procedures, what needed to be done and of course, easing my fears/anxieties. I was very impressed and would highly recommend Rathburn Dental.

Finally FINALLY .... I have the best teeth I have ever had. THE BEST EVER Dentist in town. Yes!, talking Dr Rathburn. A Year and a half later, my treatment is complete . Thanks to RATHBURN DENTISTRY. I was fortunate to have found the best dentist to take care of my teeth. A dentist who truly loves his profession. He did a super job on my teeth. And....One year later, THREE IMPLANTS, CAVITIES and ONE CROWN l.. IHIGHLY RECOMMEND RATHBURN dentistry. MY TEETH are like the ones I was born with now. . I'm so GRATEFUL, and Happy, to have met this Kind, Resp ectful , Knowledgeable, Thorough. ,DENTIST, Dr Kirk Rathburn. ... My teeth were a mess... Till i went to Rathburn Dental on Iris in Boulder. These folks have the rare mix of having both the latest tech and a down to earth and practical approach. Also, this was by far the most thorough exam I've ever had, including everything from neck muscles to a CT scan of my teeth. Wish I didn't need to spend a lot of quality time here, but glad that I am in good hands.

Great experience with a professional polite staff, able to see me quickly for a tooth problem. Dr. Rathburn explained each procedure and he and his assistant were efficient and reassuring. I've just moved to the Boulder area and I'm very pleased to have Dr. Rathburn as my dentist here.
