In essence, periodontists spend a minimum of 11 years in training!

The additional training beyond dental school involves treating many patients with the 'best of the best' as teachers and professors. By working with a periodontist, you are ensured the most effective treatment for your condition, as we spend an extensive amount of time practicing 'evidence-based' treatment for our patients. There are certainly a number of treatment modalities available, from deep cleanings, surgery, laser therapy, etc. You should rely on the experience of somebody that has all tools available to them and can make the best solution to fit you - not a one-size-fits-all approach.
