Dr. Todd Rankin received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina School of Dental Medicine (where he received an award from the American Association of Orthodontists for exceptional research in facial development). He did his graduate work in orthodontics at the University of Connecticut Health Center, where he received a certificate in orthodontics.

Dr. Rankin maintains an active interest in continuing education by attending both dental and orthodontic seminars on local and national levels. He is a member of both the American Association of Orthodontists and North Carolina Association of Orthodontists (past president of NCAO). He is also a long-time member of the Schulman Study Group of orthodontists.

Dr. Rankin and his wife Melissa have been married since 2002. They have three children: Wyatt, Mia, and Dahlia. When hes not straightening teeth, he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, cycling, and going to the beach.

Dr. Leonard Len Fiume is originally from Charlotte. He attended college at the University of North Carolina and earned both his Doctorate of Dental Medicine and graduate certificate in orthodontics from the College of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Dr. Fiume is a board-certified orthodontist with the American Board of Orthodontists, and an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the North Carolina Association of Orthodontists. He is particularly interested in rapidly evolving technology because of its significant potential to improve the aesthetics and efficiency of orthodontic treatment.

He believes that advances in areas such as digital scanning, 3D printing, and clear aligner treatments such as Invisalign are the wave of the future. To stay current on these technologies and other aspects of orthodontics, Dr. Fiume pursues continuing education opportunities throughout the year.

In his spare time, Dr. Fiume enjoys spending time with his family, surfing, paddle boarding, playing guitar, running and traveling. He and his wife Kelly moved to New Bern in 2014 and have two beautiful children, their son Wesley and daughter Eloise!

I joined the Rankin & Fiume team in April, 2021 after teaching second grade in Craven County for 30 years. I am from Vanceboro, NC and currently live in New Bern with my husband and two children. I enjoy meeting new people at the front desk and especially enjoy seeing former students walk through the front door. When Im not in the office, you can find me spending time with family or friends, travelling, playing with my fur babies, or watching the latest series on Netflix.

For 29 years, I was a military spouse of an active-duty Marine. Over those 29 years, we moved 10 times and raised two incredible kids. Our son Nick is in the Navy, and our daughter, Morgan, is an NC State graduate headed to the University of Alabama for graduate school. I was a stay-at-home mom for 13 years and returned to school in 2010 to become a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, working in both VA and NC. I subsequently decided to leave the medical field, served as a Family Readiness Officer for a Marine Squadron on Cherry Point, and then worked with military families enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program. After a brief break from the working force, I happily joined the Rankin and Fiume team where I once again get to engage with, and support families in and around the New Bern area. Based on my experiences in 7 states and one overseas location, as well as those with several career changes throughout the years, I have found that working as a member of Dr. Rankins and Dr. Fiumes team has been among the most enjoyable I have had. Not only do they treat their team like we are family, they treat every one of their patients as if they were family members. The staff is among the best of group of people with whom I have worked and they immediately made me feel like a contributing and valuable member of the team. When I am not in the workplace, you will often find me pursuing outdoor adventure in the form of hiking, kayaking, or spending a day on the boat in the beautiful Eastern North Carolina waterways.

I have been part of the team since 2000 and now am blessed to work remotely from my home in Charleston, SC. I wear many hats but specialize in orthodontic insurance. Jacksonville has been my home for most of my life. I have been a dental assistant for 10 years and I have found my passion in orthodontics. I joined the team as an Clinical Assistant in 2016. I spend my time outside of work with my daughter & boyfriend; going on adventures outdoors like hiking. We also enjoy good banjo music, breweries & traveling. Throughout the year, we run exciting contests with lots of great prizes for active patients and their families! Contests are always displayed in the office and on our social media sites, and sometimes we give out instruction cards. We do anything from interactive contests, in whichyou have to follow a set of instructions to play, to more basic contests like Guess the Number.

Our patients love our Patient Rewards program. Once you are an established patient, you will be given a rewards card and instructed on how the program works. Reward points are given for contest entries/wins, theme day participation, social media tags, inner office games, treatment compliance (like wearing rubber bands), etc.

We love to take advantage of any opportunity we get to visit our local schools. Every year in October (which is Orthodontic Awareness Month) we do an orthodontic presentation for all the local second graders, to help educate them on oral health and why orthodontics is important. We also participate in science clubs and career days to introduce students, parents, and teachers to the world of orthodontics.

We are always ready to support worthwhilecauses in any way that we can. One way we do this is through our participation in local benefit runs. We invite patients to come run with us.
