I chose Dr Kato after my search on the HDS website. I decided to change my DDS to a practitioner who accepts CareCredit allowing me flexibility with my finances. The process went extremely well as a first time client. The service level conveyed care and compassion as I felt at ease and comfortable in this office. Dr Kato employs the latest imaging (xray) technologies. During the overview of the imaging result, the depth of information explained to me was concise and eye opening. I kind of took my oral health as secondary after many years of neglect on my part. Decide wisely while still young. Because my first impression was absolutely positive, I will remain a life long client while living in Maui county. Mahalo.

I have had several dentists on Maui over many years, and Dr Kato is by far the most experienced. He is able to fix complicated dental problems, too. He is very kind, and does not do unnecessary procedures, but seems more of a minimalist. I would refer many people to him, but friends tell me no one answers the phone or returns their messages, so I no longer refer friends. The friends that were able to see Dr Kato were very happy. The entire staff and hygienists are all very kind and experienced. I love that Dr Kato has modern top of the line latest equipment, and the rooms have high quality furnishings. I feel like I am in good hands and trust Dr Kato and everyone else. If you can get through to make an appointment, it will be absolutely worth it.

I was really needing to get my wisdom teeth removed 3 months ago at the beginning of COVID. It was fine that my appointment got cancelled. When I was rescheduling the nurse was rude and disrespectful the whole time. It had been 3 months, I had moved and I couldn't find the paperwork for my surgery. I tried to call the office many times in the 3 days leading up to my surgery and I didn't get an answer. Instead the nurse called me back at a really inappropriate time. (7 pm the night before surgery) And the nurse continued to go on and on lecturing me about losing my paperwork- a problem that could have easily been solved before the surgery if they had answered any of my calls the week leading up to it. So they cancelled my surgery and rescheduled 13 days later. This was not the first time the nurse had been rude. It seemed she always had a rude and demeaning attitude even before COVID? Maybe she really hates her job but there is no excuse to treat patients like that. She continued to text me but I cancelled my surgery (even though I needed it 3 months ago) For the simple fact that I don't think anyone would feel comfortable having such a big surgery when they've been treated so rudely by the people that work there. So now I'm waiting to be referred to someone else. The point is I really don't recommend this office. It's old, the workers are mean, it doesn't seem sanitary.

Dr. Kato is a very good dentist. He made me feel right at home and his staff made me very comfortable. He showed me a video of what I was going to get done and I liked that. I look forward to getting my bottom denture because I know he will do a great job because he is a very caring person.

Wonderful and caring provider of dentistry. Great family oriented practice. I am familiar with his education and his daughter's education (the practice hygienist). My wife experienced his care in an emergency while we were on a Maui vacation. I heartily recommend him for you dental care.

I used to go to Dr.Kato when I was in High School. I live in Lahaina so I had quite a commute. His staff were always occupied. The girls sitting in the front just sat there... But I was pleased with the staff working on my teeth. Hygienists were nice and didn't scrape at my gums. I was also happy when I got a filling and he used white fillers not silvers, like other doctors. :) I did recall on one incident my appointment was dropped because a soldier from Iraq needed to get his teeth pulled or something.. O__O don't understand that. My medical doesn't cover dr.Kato but I always liked his office. They do the best at numbing. The anesthesiologist would wiggle the needle so I don't feel the pain. My sister had to do an emergency root canal with Dr.Kato. Her dentist messed up her teeth real badly. The crown costed a whopping $1000. But she did have a good experience, as he got rid of the pain and put in a high quality crown. Thanks!
