Elizabeth Dental Hygienist For over 17 years, Elizabeth has been a wonderful part of our dental team at Rai Family Dentistry. She graduated from Germanna Community College in 2009. She enjoys working at our office because we are family oriented and give our best possible care to each patient. We take pride in building a lifetime of healthy smiles. Elizabeth is dedicated to not only our practice, but also to our patients.
Malika Establishment Officer/Office Manager Malika has been part of our team since inception. Her delightful, informative, and caring tone always allows both our team members and patients to be excited to come in. Being born in India, she earned a BA in economics and MBA in marketing. She played cricket, a popular Indian sport, representing inter-college and interstate tournaments. She emphasizes good communication in order to provide better service for all of our patients as well as the staff. She handles a great majority of all customer relations, including patient questions, dental insurance, and patient financing.
Malika lives with her wonderful husband and lovely daughter, a highschooler who plays soccer and swims. Malika speaks English, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Tulu, and French. Her hobbies include traveling, watching good movies, reading, shopping, and gardening.
Briana Dental Assistant Briana has been a part of our team at Rai Family Dentistry since 2015 after completing her DATS program. Briana enjoys working at our office because we work as a team to provide the best care possible to our patients. She enjoys being able to help people and loves when patients walk out with healthy smiles. Outside of the office, Briana loves spending time with family and friends.
Debora Dental Assistant Debora joined Rai Family Dentistry in October of 2019 after earning a dental assistant certification from DATS. Debora truly enjoys being part of the team and helping patients reach their oral health goals. She wants to pursue her education to be a dental hygienist and would not trade working in the dental field for anything else.
Dr. Shivaprasanna Rai earned his BDS from GDCRI Bangalore, India, in 1984 and then earned his Masters Degree in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (MDS) in 1988 from Kasturba Medical College (KMC) in Manipal, India. Dr. Rai served as an assistant professor in the Department of Conservative Dentistry at the College of Dentistry at KMC in Mangalore in 1989. He then graduated with his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery degree) from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, in 1994. From 1994-1997, he was honored to work as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at VCU in Richmond.
While Dr. Rai has been practicing dentistry for over 36 years, he continues his education to expand his knowledge in different areas and stays updated with the newest technology and trends in the dental field. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and Northern Virginia Dental Society. He is an alumnus ofthe Dawson Academy Alumni Association.
