Elizabeth Dental Hygienist For over 17 years, Elizabeth has been a wonderful part of our dental team at Rai Family Dentistry. She graduated from Germanna Community College in 2009. She enjoys working at our office because we are family oriented and give our best possible care to each patient. We take pride in building a lifetime of healthy smiles. Elizabeth is dedicated to not only our practice, but also to our patients.
Malika Establishment Officer/Office Manager Malika has been part of our team since inception. Her delightful, informative, and caring tone always allows both our team members and patients to be excited to come in. Being born in India, she earned a BA in economics and MBA in marketing. She played cricket, a popular Indian sport, representing inter-college and interstate tournaments. She emphasizes good communication in order to provide better service for all of our patients as well as the staff. She handles a great majority of all customer relations, including patient questions, dental insurance, and patient financing.
Malika lives with her wonderful husband and lovely daughter, a highschooler who plays soccer and swims. Malika speaks English, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Tulu, and French. Her hobbies include traveling, watching good movies, reading, shopping, and gardening.
Briana Dental Assistant Briana has been a part of our team at Rai Family Dentistry since 2015 after completing her DATS program. Briana enjoys working at our office because we work as a team to provide the best care possible to our patients. She enjoys being able to help people and loves when patients walk out with healthy smiles. Outside of the office, Briana loves spending time with family and friends.
Debora Dental Assistant Debora joined Rai Family Dentistry in October of 2019 after earning a dental assistant certification from DATS. Debora truly enjoys being part of the team and helping patients reach their oral health goals. She wants to pursue her education to be a dental hygienist and would not trade working in the dental field for anything else.
Dr. Shivaprasanna Rai earned his BDS from GDCRI Bangalore, India, in 1984 and then earned his Masters Degree in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics (MDS) in 1988 from Kasturba Medical College (KMC) in Manipal, India. Dr. Rai served as an assistant professor in the Department of Conservative Dentistry at the College of Dentistry at KMC in Mangalore in 1989. He then graduated with his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery degree) from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, in 1994. From 1994-1997, he was honored to work as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at VCU in Richmond.
While Dr. Rai has been practicing dentistry for over 36 years, he continues his education to expand his knowledge in different areas and stays updated with the newest technology and trends in the dental field. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and Northern Virginia Dental Society. He is an alumnus ofthe Dawson Academy Alumni Association.

Invisalign really lives up to their name. While wearing them, they are hardly noticeable and near invisible. Yet comfortable they did get in the way of normal activities like eating and chewing that took a lifestyle adjustment. In addition, I would not recommend them to irresponsible individuals, because Invisalign requires more attention to brushing and cleaning your teeth. Invisalign benefits are simply helping your teeth slowly become aligned over time and gradually over time transform your mouth with straighter teeth and a better bite. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone having teeth issues.

I had a filling that fell out a year ago and I kept putting it off. I suffer from anxiety pretty badly and never want to go to the dentist. When I started having pain I went straight to google and this was the very first recommendation for an emergency dentist in my area. This recommendation didn't disappoint at all! They got me in quickly and were compassionate, informative, and caring throughout my entire visit. Not having dental insurance scared me of the affordability especially with it being an emergency situation, and the cost to me wasn't much more than I was used to paying WITH insurance. I highly recommend this office, especially if you are wanting quality care and more. I'll be coming back here as my first stop before anyone else.

Dr. Rai and his staff are great! Been going there for three or four years, recently did Invisalign and couldn't be happier! I moved towards the end and they have been nothing but accommodating! Clean straight teeth with compassion and a smile!

My kids and I both had a fantastic experience here. We moved to this dentist from another local office due to some negative experiences. The staff here immediately made us feel comfortable. All three of my kids sat still through their exams and cleaning, which is a huge deal for them! My oldest has ADHD and a mood disorder, so he gets easily overwhelmed and has a hard time regulating his anxiety. The staff at Rai set him completely at ease. Definitely recommend them!

Hi so I decided a few months ago that I was going to take a chance and go to the dentist even though I was afraid because of previous experiences but when I got there Bria and Dr Rai made me feel. Very comfortable and supportive about the condition of. my mouth and that together we can come up with a plan that will make my smile beautiful again . I will highly recommend them to anyone I know that's looking for a great dentist

This place is really amazing, Dr. Rai is one of the best dentist ever, he is very patient, knowledgeable full of experience and the most important thing is he speaks to you in truly easy and understandable language which helps you understand the problem with your teeth and decide. I moved to the area a few months ago and found Dr. Rai. I'm glad I did. He's fast, efficient, and extremely knowledgeable. He takes the time to explain and educate his patients on their conditions and their choices. Also, and this is important, everyone in the office is extremely pleasant, which makes it a nice place to be. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful experience at Rai dental Briana was very kind and helpful also Dr. Rai was an absolutely amazing. He was very informative and walked me through every step of the process even when I had questions he answered every single one. The office manager and front staff were also very kind. I had a filling that fell out this weekend and called first thing Monday morning and they were able to get me in right away. I'm anxious when it comes to dental work but the whole office there made me comfortable and made me feel like I've been a patient there for years when today was my first appt. Thank you for going above and beyond and taking care of me. I ended up setting up appts for my whole family to get our regular cleanings here as well.

I can't say enough good things about this place. I hadn't been to the dentist in a VERY long time, due to not being able to afford such things and they made me feel so comfortable. I was extremely nervous and overwhelmed with emotions but there was absolutely no judgement and they handled my multiple "meltdowns" with empathy and understanding. Everything was thoroughly explained to me, including the cost and what I was expected to pay the day of. I couldn't be happier with my choice in attending this practice. The whole staff was so friendly and the receptionist, Shawna, went above and beyond to help with scheduling and calming my nerves while making my appointment. I definitely recommend everyone go here!

The root canal that Doctor Rai has performed on me was the worst pain I've felt. On top of that the Procedure was over priced by $600. This is not a family dentistry for me and my family

Dr. Rai's office is amazing. They really care about their patients. The staff is friendly, attentive and very helpful. The Doctors are wonderful and really care about the patients well being. Definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a new dentist. Especially with COVID they are taking extra precautions to secure the well being of the staff and their patients.
