Dr. Race is a native of Germantown, Wisconsin. He attended Marquette University, majoring in Biology, followed by Marquette University School of Dentistry. Dr. Race graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1993,he also completed his residency at Marquette University, receiving both a masters degree and Certificate of Specialty in Orthodontics. Dr. Race is Board Certified in Orthodontics andteaches graduate orthodontic residents at Marquette University Dental School.
Dr. Race makes his home in Okauchee with his wife, Stephanie, and their three children: Adrienne, Gillian and Braden. He enjoys spending his free time with family, friends and dental colleagues. Dr. Race devotes an extraordinary amount of his time to exchanging knowledge with dental peers through meetings, study club memberships, and collaboration of patient care. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, boating and enjoying the great Wisconsin outdoors.
No. All orthodontists must be licensed to practice, but at this time only 1 in 3 orthodontists have continued on to complete Board Certification. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification process signifies a unique achievementa significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. The process requires the orthodontist to demonstrate actual accomplishments in patient care with detailed case reports on the treatment provided for a broad range of patient problems. Board certification is a voluntary achievement that all orthodontists do not choose to pursue. In order to become board certified by the ABO, an individual orthodontist is thoroughly interviewed by a highly respected panel of examiners to demonstrate their orthodontic knowledge, clinical skills, and judgment.
One. The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) is the only certifying board in the specialty that is recognized by the American Dental Association. The ABO was founded in 1929 and is the oldest specialty board in dentistry. The boards purpose is to elevate the quality of orthodontic care for the public by promoting excellence through certification, education and professional collaboration.
Successful completion of the examination process demonstrates the orthodontists highest commitment to excellence in orthodontics to both the orthodontic profession and the general public. It represents a commitment by a licensed specialist that he/she has the necessary knowledge base and skills to treat patients to the highest of standards. It exemplifies a practitioners commitment to continue to keep abreast of the latest advances in patient careand to continue to deliver these latest advances to patients. Many orthodontists see it as a demonstration of their dedication to the specialty and the highest level of personal achievement.
Since the establishment of the ABO in 1929, the certification process requirements have continued to adjust to the demands of the specialty. Today, the process involves a thorough Written Examination (240 questions) covering all areas of information which an orthodontist should be knowledgeable. Successful completion of this board exam allows the orthodontist to proceed to the Clinical Examination where they present detailed case reports from their practice/residency, demonstrating a history of excellence in patient care. These cases are evaluated by a panel of examiners and later discussed during an oral examination where the applicant is tested on a wide variety of academic and clinical topics. After successful completion of these examinations, the orthodontist has officially achieved Board Certification, for a time-limited period. The orthodontist must go through Certification Renewal every 10 years to maintain their certification status by demonstrating this continued level of patient care.
Race Orthodontics is proud to congratulate our founder, Dr. Charles Bohl, on over 40 years of extraordinary care to the community. Dr. Bohls much- deserved retirement began in 2015 after a long and distinguished career. He was fully devoted to his patients, their families, and the Brookfield, Wauwatosa and Mukwonago communities all of whom have benefited from his expertise and dedication.
A Wisconsin native, Dr. Bohl attended Valparaiso University where he received his B.A. in Chemistry, with a minor in Biology. He then attended Marquette University School of Dentistry, receiving his DDS and a Masters Degree in Fixed Prosthodontics.
Dr. Bohl began practicing Orthodontics in 1976, after completing a residency at Loyola University Dental School, and earning both a Master of Science Degree in Oral Biology and a Certificate of Specialty in Orthodontics.
Dr. Race joined Dr. Bohl in 1995. They worked side by side for over 20 years building a state of the art practice at Bohl and Race Orthodontics with a reputation for quality and excellence. After a long and successful career, Dr. Bohl retired and Dr. Race is committed to continuing the legacy they have established together as the trusted Orthodontic office in the community. Race Orthodontics will continue the 40-year tradition of superior results the practice was founded and built on.

I am an adult patient and I love my new smile! At Race Orthodontics the friendly and professional staff consistently demonstrated strong teamwork and a caring attitude toward the patients. Dr. Race was always pleasant and easy to talk to. He is extremely knowledgeable and well respected in the field. I chose the Sure Smile plan which took about 15 months. It was an excellent investment of my time and money. The financing option enabled me to make one payment in the beginning which simplified the whole process. For anyone of any age who is thinking of getting braces, I highly recommend Race Orthodontics.

Went to Race Orthodontics to get my bottom teeth straighten and was told that I would have to wear a retainer at night. Got the work done. Was told if I need to purchase new retainers that I could do so at anytime, because they have the impressions. Called them to do so because mine where getting worn, and the lady told me they don't do that anymore and I would have to spend a considerable amount of money to get new impressions, appointment, an more... very displeased on the wrong information given!

As a former patient and current employee of race orthodontics I can't say enough great things about this practice. I have been lucky enough to work for Dr. Race for over 3 years now. Dr Race is amazing and the staff I'm surrounded with are some of the best people I've ever met. Having orthodontic treatment here was one of the best decisions I have ever made and I could not be happier with my results! Having had treatment myself, I can relate to our other patients and I understand what they are going through. Every patient is unique and has different needs and Dr. Races precision and compassion for his patients and what he does is definitely one of a kind. Our practice administrator, Regina, has the kindest heart and we would not have the team we have without her! We are a family and we will treat you like part of our family too. As a long time family of this practice, I'd like to share my opinion. My kids have completed treatment and as I'm satisfied with the outcome, I'm not satisfied of the years of personal experience. Dr. Race was very dismissive, on several occasions. While the staff was always kind and polite, they always appeared stressed, overworked and overwhelmed. Typically running behind. On several occasions. The manager Regina, was inappropriately mean and condescending to the staff. This made for a very uncomfortable feeling, for those of us witnessing it. More than once I saw one of the workers crying as a result of her demeaning behavior. Employees should never cry in the workplace. Hopefully that changes moving forward.

This is Diez DeBerry and I love this office it's so inviting and I like how everyone is so friendly and they go out of their way to make you feel welcomed! I love how I can points and play games I don't get to do that with any other doctor or my own dentist. I'm his mom Dena DeBerry and I don't mind the drive coming to this clinic as it is superior to any other office I have been at. They really focus on the person in need and make you feel apart of the dental family. I'm looking forward to our next visit in December.

The office was very attentive and professional. But in terms of pricing, they are very expensive! I went there for a consultation since my child already had braces but we moved to this state so we needed to find a new Orthodontic. I was told they won't replace the appliances and the Dr was willing to continue his treatment for the reminder of the time. I had already gone to another practice for a quote. At this office they offered to replace the appliances for ones they use there and extend the treatment for my child as he felt it would be beneficial. Anyway, with that said this place was charging me the same amount I had paid when my child got his braces. Over 5k. without replacing the braces. While the other place is replacing the braces and did a much more comprehensive exam for less then 2k. That is a huge difference. For this reason I am giving them a 2 star.
