Dr. Raabe began working in his family practice in 1998. He transitioned to the Chief Clinician and President of Raabe Family Dentistry in 2002. He received his DDS in 1990 from the University of Colorado and received his B.S. in Perceptual Physiology from the University of Michigan in 1984. He has completed many additional hours of training in aesthetic dentistry, implants, craniofacial pain and obstructive sleep apnea treatments.
In addition to traditional research and awards, Dr. Raabe has a particular interest in the Dental/Facial considerations of playing wind instruments, working with musicians to enhance their performance. As youll see below, Dr. Raabe has been a musician most of his life, playing in school as a youngster and later in a professional band.
Dr. Raabes clinical strengths lie in restorative dentistry: especially aesthetics, implants and correcting the way the teeth meet and function (occlusal therapy). Hes particularly interested in the comfort and convenience of his patients: because of his in-house dental lab and advances in anesthesia, he can often complete treatments on one visit with little or discomfort. Dr Raabe emphasizes whole body health not only dental health. Located within his office is One Life Balance, a natural health center representing a broad range of disciplines to offer one, balanced health solution supporting his whole body health philosophy.
Dr. Raabe and his wife, Kathy, have one son, Max, named after Johns Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Max is a budding actor and athlete. John enjoys biking, skiing, tennis and golf. AND Dr. Raabe is a 5th generation Coloradan!
Dr. Raabe has been a member of Bluez House for the past 20 years, a local band where he plays trumpet and baritone sax. He has been making music since elementary school where he started in class and continued through high school expanding into jazz. He continues to enjoy performing and often plays around town see the link to their Facebook page for upcoming venues. Hed love to see you there!
Dr. Messer joined Raabe Family Dentistry in 2020. He graduated from The University of Texas with highest honors, earning a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering.He then went to The University of Connecticut, School of Dental Medicine to complete his DMD. While there, he completed a research project in dental materials and received awards for his achievements in dental materials and oral surgery.
From dental school, Dr. Messer went on to complete two years of advanced training at St. Francis Hospitals General Practice Residency program.While in the residency program, Dr. Messer developed the skills to extract impacted teeth, place dental implants, restore complicated cases and safely treat medically complex patients.While a resident Dr. Messer received the Resident of the Year Award and the Oral Surgery Award.
Dr. Messer takes great pride in providing excellent care to patients in as gentle and caring a manner possible. He is motivated to help patients achieve their oral health and cosmetic goals. Dr. Messer provides in-house oral sugeries including extractions, implants and root canals.

Competency, communication....these are things you want from a professional, this is what I've had with Dr. Raabe and his team. They said day 1 they would never just drill away someone's teeth without extensive research...I'm 100% for it...you cant regrow tooth and some dentist seem to think you can...Happy telling everyone I know there's still a native dentist who knows Coloradoan people, and how to treat honest hard working people correctly.

I've never loved a dentist or dental office until I started at Raabe Family Dentistry. The office itself is immaculate, current technology and incredible staff from the front desk for an appointment to your cleaning, and of course, Dr. Raabe himself. Highly recommend.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Raabe and his staff. I had gone to a dentist previously who tried to tell me that I needed 6 fillings, so I was referred by a friend to Dr. Raabe for a second opinion. It turns out I only needed 2 and the other dentist was just trying to get me to pay for unnecessary work. Dr. Raabe has great bedside manner and has always been super honest, and he does great work. I send everyone I know to see him.

Dr. Raabe saw me following a workman's comp accident to my mouth. After numerous visits to a Comfort Dental location (the companies primary referral) I asked for a second opinion when my issues continued getting worse, rather than better. From the first visit as a consultation, he created a plan for care and didn't hesitate on getting it fixed as soon as possible. I ended up having multiple visits to the office. Charlie was great and personable, each member of the team was kind and friendly. Dr. Raabe is awesome! Kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and a man with a plan. I definitely recommend him for all dental needs. Mine was a complex case with a lot of moving pieces and this office was AMAZING!

I feel very fortunate that I was referred to Dr. Raabe by another excellent doctor of mine. Good doctors tend to know good doctors, well, Dr. Raabe and his office staff are GREAT. I sincerely appreciate the difference they've made in the quality of my life. Dr. Raabe's office is cozy, comfortable, and calm. The office is also is shared w/INTEGRATED TMJ & SLEEP SOLUTIONS, focusing on holistic ways of treating the debilitating effects of bad TMJ issues. Dr. Raabe identified a way to fix a mouth guard so I grind less, combined with the treatments/therapy Dr. Raabe recommended, I REALLY AM FEELING BETTER. I am so grateful for this, especially after years of suffering from headaches and jaw issues like grinding and clenching. Dr. Raabe's entire team here deserves to be recognized, but I would like to acknowledge here - Charlie thank you for always being so cheerful and resourceful. You are one of the coolest secretaries I've ever come by. You rock lady. Jo Dee thank you for your help in keeping my smile looking nice. I always look forward to my cleanings. On the other side of the office, where I get treatment for TMJ... Kara! Thank you kindly for always being so awesome and helpful w/scheduling. Massage therapists trained in techniques to help treat my TMJ - Julie, Jessica, and Lauren. I really thank you all for the help and RELIEF you have provided for me in and after each visit. My husband and I have been seeing Dr. John Raabe for about 5 years. He is a great dentist. Not once has he ever recommended work we didn't need (unlike other dentists I've seen). He is a gentle dentist, and the hygienists are friendly and express a caring concern. Charlie, the office manager, goes out of her way to make you feel welcome.
