I chose to practice in the field of dentistry to be able to use my hands to make a difference in peoples lives. Developing relationships with our patients and working together with staff to help improve how people feel about themselves is immensely rewarding. Dr. Urback

Dr. Steve Urback is a native of the Sumner/Lake Tapps area. He attendedDieringer School and Sumner High School, where he participated in sports every season. While in high school, Dr. Urback decided on a career in dentistry. He wanted to do something to help people, and enjoyed working with his hands, which he expressed by working in wood:carving by hand as well as designing and building larger projects using power tools.

He graduated from the University of Washingtonwith a Bachelorof Science in biology while satisfying the requirements for dental school. Dr. Urback also rowed on the Husky Crew for his four undergraduate years.

Upon graduation from the UW, Dr. Urback entered the University of Washington School of Dentistry, and completedhis Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1980. Dr. Urback and his wifemoved to Chicago so he could complete a one-year general practice residency at Michael Reese Hospital. After that, hereturned to this area and started a new dental practice in downtown Puyallup, on Second Street, where it remained until the City of Puyallup purchased his office in order to build a new city hall. In March 2006, Puyallup Valley Dental Care opened at its present location in the Riverside Professional Center.

Dr. Urbacks interest in sportsand his eight years at the University of Washingtonhavemade him an avid Husky fan as well as a follower of the Mariners and Seahawks. His time away from the office is spent gardening and traveling with his wife, a local attorney. Their son and daughter are grown and living on their own.

Photography is an integral part of all Dr. Urbacks activities, as can be seen by all the photographs displayed in the office and on this website. His photographs are also printed for note cards that are sent to patients and available for sale in the office. All proceeds go to local charities such asPuyallup Food Bank and Medical Teams International.

Dr. Momany grew up in Spokane with her mother, father, and two younger sisters. While many of her family members have careers in the fields of medicine and nursing, she chose to pursue dentistry as a means to help people feel good about themselves, beginning with a beautiful smile. For her, dentistry is a perfect blend of her two lifelong passions: art and science.

Dr. Momany attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, where she raced for the nationally ranked Whitman College Cycling Team, and graduated with honors in Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology. During Dr. Momanys four years at the University of Washington Dental School in Seattle, she served as her class treasurer and financial chair. She also spent time tutoring other students as a teachers assistant for Gross Anatomy and Operative Dentistry, and mentored underclassmen as a peer advisor. At the culmination of her schooling, she was awarded her Doctorate of Dental Surgery and inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a dental honor society for individuals who graduate among the top of their class and display integrity of character.

Throughout her schooling and years of private practice, Dr. Momany has helped those in need by providing free dental care at a multitude of low-income dental clinics in Seattle (including the Union Gospel Mission, 45th St. Clinic for Homeless Youth, and Seattle/King County Clinic), and in impoverished areas of Guatemala and Jamaica.

Outside of work, Dr. Momany enjoys staying active through hiking, running, and rock climbing. She enjoys creating tasty concoctions in her kitchen, including hand-made chocolate truffles. (Dont worry; she always brushes her teeth afterward!) She continues to express her creativity through painting and a variety of other media.

I love working at Puyallup Valley Dental Care because of the excellent quality of dental care our patients receive, the integrity with which Drs. Urback and Momany treat our patients and team, and the environment that encourages and challenges each individual to be the best they can be.

Becky is a registered dental hygienist and the most tenured team member at Puyallup Valley Dental Care. She has been fortunate to develop significant relationships with patients since joining our team in 1990. She provides a cheerful and positive experience for all patients, and enjoys hearing about their latest vacations, grandchildren, and adventures. Becky is a truly a joy to work with.

We were privileged to welcome Dawn to our team in 2016. She brings an immense knowledge of dental procedures and insurance billing to her position as our financial coordinator. She takes great pride in helping patients feel supported and informed in order to make their dental care a priority. Dawn exudes a calm demeanor and a quiet confidence that makes everyone feel at ease. She is an excellent addition to our team.

Outside the office, Dawn enjoys quality time with her husband and family. They enjoy riding quads, sampling various cuisines, and discovering new places for adventure. Genealogy has become a passion for Dawn as she learns more about her family history.

Its a great feeling when a patient smiles after a deep cleaning or having anesthetic and says, that wasnt so bad!especially when they have gone through a previous bad experience. Here at our office, theyve found out that dental treatment can be painless.

Deb joined the PVDC team full time as a registered dental hygienist in 1996. She is extremely devoted, takes pride in details, and cares ofour patients like family. Deb has a gentle demeanor and encourages patients in their home-care efforts. We can count on Deb to give 100% in everything she does. We definitely value the commitment and care she provides for our patients.

As the office manager at Puyallup Valley Dental Care, Heidi goes the extra mile to ensure our doctors, staff, and most important, our patients are well cared for. After joining our team in 2008, it was evident that her strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills were an asset to the office. We welcome the energy and spirit that she shares with our staff and patients. Heidi has definitely perfected the balance between office manager, coworker, and friend.

Jill entered the dental field as a registered dental hygienist in 1994 and joined our team in 2017. She takes great pride in helping people keep their smiles heathy through home care education and encouragement. Jill truly values the relationships she has built with patients during her career, and feels that by caring for them, she has made lifelong friends. She displays a great zest for life and has an amazing ability to bond with her patients. We are thrilled to have her as part of our hygiene team.

Having grown up in Washington, Jill loves outdoor activities with family and friends. She is a dog lover and includes them in her adventures whenever possible. She also enjoys home improvement projects and camping.

Outside the office, Lesli relishes time with her family and friends. She enjoys photography, book club, camping, and play dates with her granddaughter. On occasion, she may even be found on the golf course with a coworker or two.

Mary joined our team in 2016 as a registered dental assistant specializing in sterilization. She brings a positive and upbeat energy to our office while providing vital support to our clinical team during patient care. Mary has quickly become an integral part of our team and is always open to learning new things. She loves a challenge and a good practical joke.

Outside the office, Mary enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys, and is a die-hard Sounders fan. She frequently participates in community service events and values time spent with family and friends.

Mellissa and her husband are proud parents to two young boys. They enjoy spending time watching their boys explore life and grow up. On a nice day, they can be found visiting local parks and exploring the Pacific Northwest.

The best thing about my job is all the wonderful and interesting people I come in contact with every day. I do everything within my power to help patients overcome their dental fears so they can keep their mouths healthy.

In 2000, Nan joined our practice as a registered dental hygienist. She is very passionate about oral health and helping people maintain a healthy mouth. Nan takes pride in sharing her many years of dental expertise with patients and finds satisfaction in their successes. She has a great sense of humor, which contributes to keeping office morale high. Nan is definitely a key player in our office. She also barbecues a great hamburger on staff potluck days.

When she is not at the office, Nicole enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband frequently attend community events and enjoy supporting local causes. Her children both play lacrosse, which has become a family passion. Nicole has even had the privilege of coaching her daughter's lacrosse team the past two seasons.

In 2016, Shawn joined PVDC as a registered dental assistant. She brings excellent dental knowledge to our practice and is very calming with her voice and touch when she caresfor patients.Shawn enjoys giving people a comfortable and personal experience and appreciates the family feel present at Puyallup Valley Dental Care. We are extremely thankful to have Shawn as part of our team.
