An intraoral camera is an indispensable diagnostic and educational tool. The tiny video camera moves around inside of your mouth and generates a tooth by tooth video exam of your teeth. Using an intraoral camera allows patients to better understand their dental needs by seeing what the dentist sees and then having it explained.
Lasers are a non-surgical approach to arresting the progression of periodontal disease. Following scaling and root planing, a laser is used to significantly reduce the bacterial colonies and decontaminate the infected periodontal pocket. Lasers also remove the infected tissue lining the periodontal pocket. As the infected tissue is removed, microscopic blood clots form and your body's natural healing response takes over. As you heal, the tissue reattaches to the bone and your gums return to a healthy infection-free state.

EDITED after being a patient of this practice for less than a year: I would not trust this practice. I would be cautious in all matters from billing to treatment to how your EHR is handled. We were highly deceived in the beginning (see my initial review below). I am in the medical field and while it is not dentistry they are bound by a majority of the same laws as most practitioners and this business in my personal experience have violated quite a few along with my rights as a patient. To start with, my husband received crowns here and the dentist that did his work left material in his mouth that caused an infection that we had to pay out of pocket to treat as we were unaware at the time the crowns he received here were the reason for infection. We had to pay another dentist out of pocket (as this practice maxed our insurance policy) to have them document that this practices treatment and crowns were at fault for my husbands infection so that this practice would correct the work they had done so my husband would not be in awful pain fighting repeated infections and at risk for further complications. It was established prior to the corrective treatments that he would not have to pay as their treatment was at fault, yet when he checked out after them fixing the crowns they still tried charging him and he had to remind them only hours later of the situation and that he was not suppose to pay. My personal experience was good with Dr Wu (who is no longer with this practice from what I was told by the staff) and my treatment until I requested the money I paid in advance for a service to be returned to me as I am pregnant and wouldn't be receiving the service anytime soon and my records so that I may continue care elsewhere as by the time I could safely see a dentist during my pregnancy my husbands incident with this practice was happening so I no longer wanted to get treatment here. I received my records today within hours, 11/8/2022, after taking time off work and going there in person. But this was after multiple requests via their portal, requests via phone and finally in person, with threats of a law suit and reporting the business as they were interfering with my timely dental care. Regarding my money I requested be returned: I was told that they didn't know when I could get my money back as there is a certain way they have to request it to be returned to me as they outsource their billing. Review after initial visit: Both my husband and I are so happy we found this dentist's office when we moved to Puyallup. We both absolutely loved our first experience here. Nothing but positive things to say about Puyallup Smiles, their facility and their team!

I didn't want to have to write a negative review about this place, everything was actually fantastic when I visited, I loved my doctor and nurse. The problem is their billing department doesn't seem to know how to properly bill insurance. I have been going back and forth with them constantly, giving them my insurance multiple times, even confirming with my own insurance that the services I received were covered. I went all the way back in July, this problem has yet to be resolved no matter how many times I call and even after going into the office to discuss this. I was told I would receive a call back if there were any issues with billing yet I just received another statement for the exact same amount. No one can seem to tell me why this keeps happening, I really hate having to write this. This isn't a reflection on the doctors, nurses, or even reception because I know they don't handle this, but unfortunately I have to put it here. I really wish this could have been resolved, it is a shame my experience was ruined by billing mismanagement.

I had an appointment over a month in advance and clicked the new patient button online. I come in the day of my appointment after confirming all the text reminders, just to find out they canceled my appointment due to not enough time. Super unprofessional and rude. No notice they did it the day of. Rachel the receptionist is super rude and not empathetic at all. Won't be rescheduling since they are rude especially Rachel.

I went to the same dentist for over 20 years, but needed to change because his schedule was limited. I've been really happy with the care I've had here. Everyone is very kind and they have specialists for root canals and other procedures. I tried one other dentist before I ended up here and was told that I would probably lose most of my teeth because of a medical problem I have- I have only had to have one extraction and that was optional- all my other teeth have been able to be saved. I'm very glad I ended up here and with Dr. Chong as my dentist.

Great experience from the front desk to x-rays, to cleaning to dentist Dr Chong. All very friendly and go above and beyond for a comfortable and enjoyable environment. Also really loved how Dr Chong checked with the front to make sure everything during our appointment would be covered through my insurance first. Excited to finally have a great dentist I can go to ! They also have a pediatric dentist next door for my little one and that experience was wonderful too.
