Dr. Marnie Schreiner and her husband, Dr. James Salazar opened their first Purely Dental location in Encinitas, CA in 2014. Dr. Schreiner now works at the La Jolla location, while her husband continues caring for their patients in Encinitas.
Dr. Schreiner, originally from Rancho Palos Verdes in Southern California, earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of California, San Diego, and graduated in 2002 from the UCLA School of Dentistry with Deans Honors, receiving the American Academy of Oral Medicine Award. After graduation from UCLA, Dr. Schreiner completed a one-year general practice residency at the UCLA VA Sepulveda dental facility.
Dr. Schreiner treats all of her patients as her friends and family, providing them with comprehensive, high quality treatment in a respectful, gentle and caring manner. Her commitment to high quality care is ongoing as she continues her training and education in a variety of disciplines, including cosmetic dentistry, general dentistry, Invisalign, endodontics, and periodontal care.
She is an Invisalign provider, offering her patients a clear and cosmetic alternative to braces, straightening their teeth and enhancing their smiles. Dr. Schreiner has also pursued advanced continuing education in complex restorative dentistry at the prestigious Spear Education Center in Scottsdale, AZ. Through continued education, she keeps current with changing materials, improved techniques and procedures, advanced treatment planning, and new technologies.
Dr. Schreiner is an active member of the Spear Study Club. Through her education with Spear Education, and her clinical experience, Dr. Schreiner has worked at perfecting her skills in smile makeovers, composite bonding, porcelain veneers, and crowns. She is also a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the California Dental Association (CDA), and the San Diego County Dental Society (SDCDS).
In her free time, she enjoys working out, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Dr. Schreiner especially enjoys spending time with her husband Dr. Jim Salazar and their two children. She is a Girl Scout Troop leader for her daughters troop and she is a member of the La Jolla Sunrise Rotary Club.

Purely Dental gave me multiple reminders of scheduled April 2021 appoint-ment for a regular checkup and teeth cleaning. As usual, on my arrival at their office I was greeted warmly and checked regarding temperature, health and current condition. My checkup and teeth cleaning was performed by the resident dentist, Dr. Marnie Schreiner and was thorough & comfortable, and I felt like a member of the family. Strong recommendations from me!!

I have been to Dr. Schreiner's office for an overall exam and one filling. I am thrilled to have found a dentist that is very thorough, calm and exhibits professional common sense. She was more thorough doing her exam and explaining my teeth to me than anyone I have ever encountered. Dr.Shreiner's staff is equally qualified. Friendly, open and relaxed. Dr. Schreiner is detailed, gentle and honest. She walked us through the concerns for both myself and two children. Made great recommendations for orthodontists that she reaches out to and discusses the recommended treatments. I'm not the Dr., therefore the coordination between them makes me feel at ease knowing they both are fully aware of the issues at hand. Her office is on time, convenient and the friendliest receptionist and hygienists. The bonus is that my kids don't mind going to the dentist. She makes the experience "not horrible." They don't mind going to the dentist. And her honestly on the recommended treatment after experiencing shady dentistry previously keeps our family coming back to her office again and again. She's awesome!

My first appointment with Dr. Schreiner went extremely well it was very pleasant. She is a good listener, easy going and attentive to details of my past history, issues and concerns. She is excellent at informing you what she is doing as she performs plus discusses her observations openly. New patient paperwork was straight forward and Pam had everything ready-to-go in advance of my appointment and at the end.

Purely dental is a great dental office. I had my first appointment today. It was very thorough and Dr. Schreiner took the time to really explain everything and allowed me to ask all my questions. We came up with a great plan for what needs to be done. I was very nervous (given the pandemic) but felt very safe and comfortable in their office. It was very clean and they had great safety protocols in place which made me feel very safe. Dr. Schreiner and the staff were all very professional and very nice. I highly recommend this office.
