Dr. Kristin Newsom is a 2005 graduate of University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco, CA. The doctor and her family have lived in San Luis Obispo County since 2007. After achieving her Bachelors degree in Biochemistry from UC San Diego, the doctor went on to pursue her dental degree at UOP. Knowing her love of children, she decided to specialize and did a residency in Pediatric Dentistry and received a Masters in Oral Health at the University of Illinois in Chicago where they lived for 2 years. Having grown up in Visalia and visiting the area every summer, she and her husband decided to move to the beautiful Central Coast where her in-laws have lived for the past 21 years, to be closer to family. Dr. Newsom is married to Sean Newsom and they have 4 beautiful children, Wyatt, Scarlett and Violette, and baby Sawyer. She enjoys spending time with her children and if theres any extra time, traveling and playing tennis. She has practiced locally, in San Luis Obispo, for the past 8 years.
Precision and patient comfort is a prerequisite to Dr. Newsom's work quality. Being a Mom herself, she understands the needs of kids and their parents. She believes in conservative dentistry, tailored to each childs individual case. She is always seeking new knowledge and ways to improve her practice of pediatric dentistry
Upon graduating from Allan Hancock College in 1992, I was hired at Pure Pediatric Dentistry on my 20th birthday. What a wonderful gift that turned out to be. Having always wanted to work with children, adolescents, and those with special needs, this job has been a perfect match for me. I work with an amazing group of girls and always look forward to seeing the faces that walk through our doors each day. Over the years, I have found that it is our patients with special needs that have touched my heart tremendously. I moved to Atascadero when I was 4 and love living on the Central Coast. I was blessed in 2009 when I became a proud Aunt of twins, Max and Sophie. They are a joy to be around, and I cant wait to see whats in store for them and their future.
Being the Treatment Coordinator, I do my best to help you understand and utilize any insurance benefits that you may have. I very much enjoy our team at the office. The diversity in personalities always keeps me smiling. Working with our wonderful patients keeps me on my toes. There is never a dull moment in our office. I was born and raised here on the beautiful Central Coast, graduated from Atascadero High School, and attended Cuesta College. With my free time I like to spend as much of it outside as possible. Whether it be walking our dog Diesel, reading, horseback riding, camping, , or gardening with my husband, Luke and son.
In March of 2009, I was presented with an amazing opportunity to join Pure Pediatric Dentistry. I was delighted. I enjoy working with children as well as being in the dental profession. I love teeth! Having two of my own children has really helped me in what it takes work with and understand children. It also gives me a parents perspective on every day cares and concerns. My husband and I play an active role in our church and community groups where we love spending time with our girls and our family My other love is running and you can often find me running around our local area and competing in marathon and half-marathons.
I graduated from the Monterey Peninsula Dental Assisting Program in 1997, earning my RDA, CDA, Radiology, and Coronal Polishing Certifications. Soon after, I began assisting for a local family practice where I spent the next 7 years. While I enjoyed working with a variety of people of different ages, my true passion came from the little people. So in 2007 I was thrilled when the opportunity to work with children became available with Pure Pediatric Dentistry. The constant energy and enthusiasm from the children and staff alike have made this my most enjoyable and rewarding experience yet!! It is my goal to not only get to know each and every child but to help them have the BEST and MOST positive dental experience possible! On a more personal note, I have a wonderful husband of 10 years and 2 amazing little munchkins of my own! I love nothing more than spending time with them! Watching them watch the world brings out my inner child, and is the most exciting and fun part of parenting! And lets not forget about time alone with the hubby whether it be snowboarding, taking a cruise or just hanging out watching all of my favorite reality TV showsnow thats a good husband!
