Dr. Thomas Kang was born in Temple, Texas while his father (Yong) was finishing his tour with the US Army. Yong and his wife, Angie, immigrated to the United States with the dream of providing their family with better opportunities than they had growing up in post-war Korea. Dr. Kang is proud of his father's military service where he served in Vietnam as part of KATUSA (Korean Augmentation to the United States Army). After arriving in the United States in 1972 Yong enrolled in college, earning a degree in economics. Shortly thereafter he returned to Korea, this time as a US Army GI. In 1976 he returned to the United States and shortly thereafter Dr. Kang was born at Scott and White Hospital.

Yong and Angie relocated their family to Issaquah, Washington in 1980, where Dr. Kang and his brother, Scott, both attended Issaquah High School. Dr. Kang was a two-time King County wrestling champion and captain of his football and wrestling teams. Following graduation, Dr. Kang attended the University of Washingtonfor his Bachelor of Science Degree.

Upon graduation he was accepted to the University of the Pacific School of Dentistryfor his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Following graduation he was one of two applicants accepted into the Graduate Periodontal and Implant Specialty program at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine.

Dr. Kang and his wife Dr. Katie Kim make their home in Bellevue, Washington with their two sons, Michael and Marcus. As the founder of Puget Sound Periodontics he has overseen the growth of the practice from a small start up into the premier destination for periodontics and implant dentistry on the west coast.

Dr. Kang provides education in several local dental study clubs and participates in meetings throughout the nation, lecturing on advanced implant technologies including Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing of Medical Devices. By offering a specialized care plan and periodontic treatment, Dr. Kang and his team are proud of their commitment to a better, more rewarding visit with their patients.

Dr. Suzuki is from a dental family. His father, Dr. Jon B. Suzuki, is a periodontist, professor of Microbiology and Immunology and Professor of Periodontology and Implantology at Temple University. His mother, Pamela, was a certified dental assistant and office manager, while his brother is an attorney in Michigan.

He has published research in bone grafting for implant site development conducted at the Primate Research Institute (CEMIC), Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Dr. Suzuki is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology (a Board Certification less than half of all Periodontists attain). He also has achieved Diplomate Certification in Oral Implantology from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Suzuki has recently been inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, F.A.C.D., (achieved by less than 1% of dentists in the world) and also elected into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.

Dr. Shang Lun (Allen) Liu was born in Taiwan into a dental family. His father is an orthodontist who recognized the need for a better environment, and sent his three children to the United States at an early age. He dreamed of an opportunity for them to learn English and receive the best education. Dr. Liu grew up in Cupertino, California. During high school, he played badminton competitively and competed in many tournaments with several medals won.

Dr. Liu graduated with his DMD from Temple University and the prestigious Kornberg School of Dentistry, Philadelphia, PA. Immediately following graduation, he went on to pursue specialty training in Periodontics and Oral Implant Dentistry at Temple as well. Dr. Liu received his specialty certificate in Periodontology and Dental Implantology and also completed a Masters degree in Oral Biology. His thesis focused on the anatomical variations in patients sinus cavities and how understanding these variations would lead to better clinical treatment and outcomes.

After completing his studies, Dr. Liu followed his family and close friends to Seattle where he fell in love with the beautiful city, the rich culture, and the vibrant sports community. In his free time he enjoys badminton, biking, playing guitar, computer building and reading.

Dr. Jessica Hsu was born and raised in Sugar Land, TX (a stones throw away from Imperial Sugar Mill). As a child she learned how to horseback ride before she learned how to ride a bike. Her parents, Robert and Jennie Hsu, first generation immigrants from Taiwan, were the first of the family to leave their home country for the United States in order to pursue further education in post-graduate studies. Her father is a now-retired chemical engineer; her mother was a homemaker who ran multiple small home businesses, including a real estate and rental agency. Both parents grew up with very little dental education and have struggled with periodontal disease throughout their lives.

Her father has multiple dental implants and absolutely loves them. This joy led to him introducing his dentist to his daughter, Dr. Hsu, while she was still in college and in search of her career path at the University of California, San Diego. There, she achieved her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Cell Biology with fields of focus in economics and Chinese while graduating Magna Cum Laude with Provost Honors. Dr. Hsu furthered her education, earning a degree in Dental Surgery from Columbia University in NYC. After completion of dental school, Dr. Hsu attended University of Washington where she obtained her specialty certificate in Periodontology and Dental Implantology whereas she defended her thesis in mucosal immunity to achieve a Master of Science in Dentistry. Dr. Hsu is an elected member of the Academy of Osseointegration, American Academy of Periodontology, and is recognized as The Top Periodontist in Bellevue Washington by Women in Medicine, July 2020.

On a personal note, Dr. Hsu is fluent in conversational Chinese and she enjoys various hobbies that include hiking with her husky pup, gardening indoor and outdoor, journalistic and food photography, cooking, and most importantly eating.

Dr. Hsu was drawn to periodontology and surgery instinctively due to her detail-oriented and esthetically driven nature. This manifests in her penchant for delicate procedures such as gingival augmentation, aesthetic crown lengthening, and sinus augmentations where the minute surgical finesse differentiates itself in accelerated patient healing and positive treatment outcomes.
