Being a dentist is a huge part of who I am: I love making people feel comfortable and get the care they need. I particularly appreciate seeing people who have been afraid of seeing the dentist sometimes for years and being able to connect with them, ease their fears, and help them feel positive about dental care.

I like taking my time to get to know my patients: learning what interests them, what makes them tick. I find that clear communication and genuine care can alleviate anxieties and allow us to build a trusting connection.

Beyond that, I really enjoy talking about topics beyond oral health. I have learned so much from my patients: from gardening to fishing to mushroom hunting tips, books to read, and many more things. My patients have a wealth of knowledge to share.

I like it when Im out running errands at Wal-Mart or Rural King and see so many friendly faces that I know from the office. We live in such a great community, full of polite, kind, and amazing people; I am glad to help them and appreciate their trust!

We have had the same team members for years! This means our patients see the same smiling, supportive, trustworthy people at every visit, year after year. This allows us to develop real relationships with our patients, and to builda rapport that goes beyond healthcare providers and patients. We respect and treat each patient on a personal level, as we would want to be treated.

I am from Charleston; I graduated from Charleston High School in 1992. From there I went to Illinois State University where I was a biology major, chemistry minor, and graduated with my Bachelor of Science in 1996. I attended Southern Illinois School of Dental Medicine, where I graduated with my Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2000.

While my dental schooling provided an excellent foundation in the field, dentistry is constantly evolving. I work to stay up to date on empirically proven techniques and technologies through various continuing education opportunities.

In addition to taking SIU-SDM alumni courses and midwinter continuing education courses in Chicago, I read the latest research and other discussions in professional journals. I am also an active member of the Illinois State Dental Society and the American Dental Association.

We have two children, Braden and Christine. They both love school and make us very proud. We recently got a Shih Tzu puppy and he has brought a lot of joy into our lives. We are now officially dog people.

When Im not working, Im almost always outside. I love gardening and have lots of vegetable and flower gardens to tend to. I also enjoy bow hunting in the fall and winter. Most of all, I love being at home with my wife and kids, enjoying all kinds of family activities, or simply relaxing with a cup of coffee on my front porch.

I love to laugh and make people laugh. I enjoy learning and reading about many things: dentistry, history, gardening, bow hunting, cars, and guns, to name but a few. I love getting together with my family every Sunday, whether were watching Bears football in the fall and winter or swimming in my parentspool in the summer. Also, I love good food and my wife is an awesome chef!

I have always been passionate about dentistry. It affords creativity in a patient centered environment where personal interaction and relationships dictate successful outcomes. I love developing relationships with patients and learning about their families, hobbies, and interests. I truly believe open communication and comfort lead to good dentistry.

Since dentistry will always be an evolving profession, continued education is imperative to successful patient care. I enjoy focusing my continued education on dental materials, Invisalign, and the latest techniques available. This dedication to constant learning will help me provide the most modern standard of care for all of my patients.

I previously worked at a family practice in Chicago for 12 years. I love the camaraderie of a great staff and family feel of a practice. I feel extremely fortunate to have found the same environment here at Pschirrer Family Dentistryan office that is completely patient centered and family friendly. The staff works to ensure patient comfort and accommodate treatment needs. We go out of our way to ease patient anxiety and ensure expectations are met.

I am originally from Naperville, IL. I currently live in Charleston with my husband Adam and our three children, Abigail, Dana, and Alex. When Im not working, I love going to football games, watching my kids play sports, exercising, spending time with family, and baking.

You want the best for your family: full, happy lives, personal and professional success, and optimal health. At Pschirrer Family Dentistry, we want the same and look forward to being your dental care partners, working toward the shared goal of a lifetime of beautifully healthy smiles!

Since 1975, weve provided advanced, gentle dentistry to Charleston-area families, and built a reputation as a practice that truly cares about our patients on a personal level. We are known for delivering ethical, comfortable dental care and personalized treatment, and taking all the time needed to ensure our patients are pleased with their visits.

Were truly a small, family-run business that cares for our patients like they are part of our family. Dr. J.T. Pschirrer founded the practice in 1975, his son, Dr. Jacob Pschirrer joined in 2000, and we have other family members here, too. Dr. Jamie Cushing joined the practice in 2019.

Many of our team members have been with us for decades! Theyand our doctorsare honored to treat generations of the same families: We all thrive on the lasting friendships and connections we build with our patient family and community.

  • We spend quality time with each of our patients; getting to know them, sharing stories, and learning from their experiences and insights. Each of us marvels about how we learn something new, every day, from our patient family ... and we love it!
  • We know the importance of education. We stay current on dental advances through continuing education in order to provide patients with the most up-to-date options. We also emphasize patient education: teaching each about their specific dental concerns, the importance of nutrition, and how to improve their home dental hygiene.
  • We want our patients to feel listened to and heard, to freely express any worries they have, and to know we will never judge them. Instead, well respond appropriately, with compassion and empathy, and find solutions to whatever is troubling the person.

I have an Associates degree in dental hygiene and began working with Dr. Pschirrer in 1978. Helping my patients achieve good oral health is my main goal, which I do by providing cleanings, preventive exams, and education. I genuinely enjoy getting to know my patients on a personal level and building relationships with them that last. Our team is made up of some of the best, most qualified, and funny people Ive ever met. Theres never a dull moment here!

I like how my day is filled with conversations. Im always learning something new from what our patients share. I also appreciate how each procedure is different and I learn from that, too. I joined the team in 2007 and immediately knew Id found my professional home and family.

I set up the operatory for procedures, greet and seat our patient, and explain what well be doing. Working chairside, I assist Dr. Pschirrer during the procedure while supporting our patient, and I clean up once were done. I also help the front desk when I have free time.

Outside of work, I enjoy being with Todd, my boyfriend, and our dog, Grady. We love to camp and boat at Mill Creek and have met some of our most wonderful friends there. We also enjoy spending quality time with our families and love to travel when we can.

We truly have the most amazing patients! Every day, I learn something new: We see professors, police officers, building service workers, teachers, factory workers, retirees, and students. Each has a story or two to share and I gain wisdom from their life experiences. Our patients truly enrich my life, and I hope our doctors and team members do the same for our patient family.

I oversee day-to-day operations of the office. Most of the time Im at the front desk: greeting patients, answering phones, assisting with scheduling, and handling paperwork. I also work with patients on financials, to figure out terms so theyre able to afford the dental care they need.

Jake and I have been married since 1999 (wow, are we getting old!). We have two children, Braden and Christine, who make us very proud. Our third child is our little Shih Tzu, Rebel, who keeps us constantly entertained. I love cooking and entertaining for family and friends. I also enjoy hiking and camping, swimming and canoeing, playing tennis, riding four-wheelers, and being with my wonderful family.

I love meeting people, getting to know them, and building connections. Its rewarding to help people I care about develop healthy smiles! I became part of the Pschirrer Family Dentistry team in 2006. Theres never a dull moment in our office, since were always talking and laughing with patients and each other.

I take X-rays, apply sealants, and provide prophies (cleanings). A lot of my time with patients is spent teaching them about their oral health, its connection to overall wellness, and how to achieve optimal dental and body health.

Im married and have three children: Max, Isabel, and Scarlett, as well as three dogs. My free time is spent with family, supporting and watching my kids sports and other activities, and kayaking and swimming in our pond. Im an active member of the First Baptist Church and the Elementary PTO in Newton.

I enjoy talking with and getting to know our patients and their families. Ive been part of Pschirrer Family Dentistry since 1999, and in that time have met and become friends with so many in our community! I am happy to be part of an amazing team and to work with great doctors, all of whom care about each other and our patients.

I am happy to help people live healthier lives: dental hygiene is more than just cleaning teeth! Though I started working here in 2008, Ive been part of the office for much of my life: The doctors are my dad and brother, and our team has been together for so long that they are part of my family. I appreciate how positive and supportive everyone is, toward each other and our patients!

Working with patients, I take X-rays, place sealants and polish teeth, and provide patient education. Its important for people to understand why they need to take care of their oral health and have the information and tools needed to keep their mouth and body healthy.

When Im not seeing patients, I love to play sports, fish, and hang out with my family. I have two wonderful daughters, McKenzie and Jillian. I also have koi and goldfish for pets: the fish live in a solarium in our waiting room.
