Oral and Maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons, the surgeons at Progressive Oral Surgery & Implantology of Long Island manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. In addition, they practice a full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. Our office can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.
Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation and outpatient general anesthesia in our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.
Surgical StaffThe surgical staff at Progressive Oral Surgery & Implantology of Long Island are experienced, certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgical assistants, who assist in the administration of IV sedation and surgery. All staff are informed administrative personnel, well versed in health and insurance policies, and are CPR certified
Dr. Lee is a fantastic doctor and surgeon. I had a more difficult, non-routine wisdom tooth extracted today and he did a beautiful job. He explained all my surgical options before this point- went over the x-rays and CT scan, and made sure I had all the information necessary to make the best decision.
He has had the honor of presenting some of his work at the national meeting of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, as well as being published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has partaken in many community outreach programs, including dental outreaches to the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Honduras. He has also been a part of Healing the Children, where he provided cleft lip and palate surgery for underprivileged children and adolescents in Bucaramanga, Colombia.
With the backing of his tremendous experience, Dr. Petros Panagos has achieved the honor of becoming board-certified and being named a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He also is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the NYS Dental Association, and the Nassau County Dental Society. He is active in maintaining continuing education to stay on the cutting edge of his field, as well as keeping current in his Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support training. LI Pulse has recognized Dr. Panagos as a Top Dentist in the Long Island Area. In addition, Dr. Panagos is PALS certified.
He currently lives in Nassau County with his wife and three children. He has many interests outside of the office including sports, outdoor activities, and most importantly, enjoying time with his family.

These people will rob you, confirm your portion of payment before you have your services done. Otherwise wait for the surprise bill. Plus get charged extra fee for using your card. Staff not friendly either.

If I could give no stars I would. I've had 2 prior surgeries to remove an impacted wisdom teeth and then a non impacted tooth. Both times I've had anesthesia and the procedure was seamless and over before I knew it. Not at this facility. If I knew in advance I'd feel every bit of pain with my infected root canal removal I'd choose to not remove it. The dr and staff were the worse. I was given a gas, oxygen the assistant said, plus local novocaine, plus maybe anesthesia and nothing worked to numb that pain or pit me to sleep. Because I reacted to the pain of the extraction, the dr and assistant were so mean telling me to stop screaming i'm scaring the other patients. I've never been so utterly traumatized in my life and I will never recommend this place to anyone.

DO NOT GO THERE. Terrible experience. The staff was rude and unprofessional. They will send you additional bills without explanation. The woman in billing department is disgusting.

I never write reviews on anything at all but I have to on this for those who are scared of tooth extraction. They are top tier and all though it did hurt a bit to get out (which every tooth extraction does)they did the best job and gave good information for recovery. I hate the tools used by any dentist/specialist. but they completely made it safe for me. Although it was a lot of money..at the end of the day you have to do what you have to do to keep your teeth in good form.

Went here for lower wisdom teeth extraction with IV sedation, had a great experience. Dr. Pezzolo made me feel extremely comfortable about the procedure. The surgical assistants and receptionists were also so kind and caring. I left the office feeling very confident in my choice to come to this office. Recovery went great and I had very minimal pain. Highly recommend anyone to come here for extraction, they give exceptional care.

Just got off the phone with the receptionist/scheduler and she was extremely rude... she hung up on me. Called the garden city location instead and I was spoken to very nicely on the phone and the staff personnel answered all my queries.

Dr John Lee was extraordinary. He made me feel very comfortable, explained everything from start to finish . I had 3 teeth pulled , absolutely painless . Highly recommend.

Dr. Sacks tried to make me pay out of pocket for fees insurance covered. He said my insurance only covers 40% and when it covered 55%. He's staff is in on it as well. They need to be on the street. He's a terrible man and will pray for his failure. Trust and believe. Your staff will fail as well.

Very unprofessional waited more than two hours just to have the doctor tell me my insurance information was wrong and that my insurance was the one at fault . Rude staff on the phone . Wouldn't recommend this place very rude and unprofessional. Was told I'm wasting his time because I wanted to know the fees that were up to 600 dollars.

Smooth procedure for wisdom tooth extraction. Staff was kind and friendly. Oral surgeon explained everything in detail, made sure I wasn't in pain. Would return again.

Had wisdom teeth taken out and I don't do well at the dentist, but the staff was very kind and made me comfortable and relaxed. Doctor was also great. Sedation made it painless and quick... Didn't kill me on the price, either. If you have to see an oral surgeon Progressive will treat you right.
