Prime Orthodontics is a woman-led orthodontics practice in Carrollton, Texas, welcoming children, teenagers, and adults. Board-certified orthodontist Sooyoun Chung, DDS, MS, and the team dedicate themselves to providing individualized care and producing satisfying results for every patient.
Dr. Chung was born in Maryland but grew up in Korea. Upon graduation from dental school at the University of Michigan, she pursued her Master's degree from Universtiy of California San Francisco.She has been living in the North Dallas area for over 10 years and is happy to call Carrollton home. She is an active member of the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists, the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), and the American Board of Orthodontists (ABO).
Dr. Chung and her team remain dedicated to providing quality care and state-of-the-art treatments. They use cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) to diagnose issues with accuracy.She also provides customized treatment plans using traditional adult braces, self-ligating braces, clear braces, and the popular Invisalign clear aligner system.
She thoroughly enjoys getting to know each patient on a personal level and guides them through his/her smile journey to Prime Smile. Her favorite part is to observe patients overcome their shyness and bloom into their best selves through the orthodontic treatments. Smiles play a big role in our life!
She was born in Maryland and grew up in South Korea. She earned her Bachelor of Science in biochemistry in Yonsei University. She went on to study at University of Wisconsin in Madison, got her Master of Science in Biochemistry before changing her career to dentistry.
Dr. Chung studied dentistry, and got her DDS degree from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, which is voted many times the best dental school in the world! She was inducted into the prestigious Omega Kappa Upsilon (OKU) honor society upon graduation and went on to continue her goal of becoming an orthodontist at University of California at San Francisco, and got her master of science in oral biology and certificate of orthodontics after three years.
She is among 25% of all orthodontists who opted to take extra time and effort and proved their diagnosis and treatment skills by becoming Board certified orthodontists. Still now she attends local and national orthodontics meetings and seminars to sharpen her knowledge, acquire new techniques and stay current in the dental and orthodontic field. She is an active member of the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists, the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), and the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO).
Dr. Chung is an avid dog lover and participates in Dog Agility with her right arm dog, Roux, who you can see most clinic days at Prime Orthodontics. She enjoys cooking, sewing, working out, and hiking in her free time.

I had an amazing experience at Prime orthodontics. Always had the welcoming environment and everyone was so kind and friendly. I am definitely satisfied with the result all thanks to Dr.Chung and Christine! I won't miss being in braces but I will definitely miss the people. I wish everyone a good luck!

My son's teeth were jagged and needed straightening. Also, it was difficult to visit the dentist during the week, so I looked for a place where treatment was possible on the weekend. Treatment was only available on the first Saturday of every month, not every other week. My son had to visit once every 5 to 6 weeks for treatment, but since it is only open once a month, he received treatment every 8 weeks. I have always loved coming to this place whenever I've had appointments (mainly because of their SUPER CUTE dogs ). Even though I gave Dr Chung a hard time, she was always so nice to me and would always make jokes. All the staff members were super nice too (especially Christine). Even though my braces journey has just ended recently, I will make sure to visit at least once a year . I will miss you guys very much, and thank you for taking care of my teeth and caring for me.

Came here to get some new retainers made. PRIME has the lowest cost for retainers of the 15 places I called. They also can make night guards which most other offices could not do. The staff here is FANTASTIC. So friendly and nice! My retainers fit very well.

I had a unique case that required jaw surgery as well as orthodontics. Dr. Chung and Christine were both amazing to work with throughout the entire process, and helped coordinate things seamlessly with my surgeon. I love my new smile, and highly recommend Prime Orthodontics!
