Dr. Joyce Guojun Ma earned a Bachelor of Medicine in Dentistry degree from Beijing Medical University (now Peking University) in 1998. After practicing dentistry in China for several years, she then went on to earn a PhD in Neuroscience from Johns Hopkins University in 2005. In 2010, she earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry. Within the same year, she was certified in Invisalign, Esthetic Dentistry, and Computer Guided Implant Surgery. In 2011, she completed her training on Advanced Functional Dentistry Core I (Neuromuscular Dentistry) at the world famous Las Vegas Institution (LVI).
In addition to her extensive education, Dr. Ma has also achieved many awards and honors in the field of dentistry. During her dental career, she has had the honor of presenting at many dental meetings and conferences. Dr. Ma has also published several studies in peer reviewed journals. Her extensive work experience includes a graduate fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, a postgraduate fellowship at Rockefeller University,as well as private practice in several general dentistry practices throughout New Jersey.
Dr. Ma is currently licensed to practice dentistry in the state of New Jersey. She is also a LVI trained dentist in Neuromuscular Dentistry. In addition to general dentistry, Dr. Ma is a graduate of UMDNJ Maxi Implant Training Program. She has extensive experience in single and multiple implant placements, full mouth implant rehabilitation, same day tooth replacement, computer guided implant surgery as well as implant supported overdentures. Dr. Ma is certified in Six Month Smiles Short Term Orthodontics and the Invisalign system. She also holds a certificate in Aesthetic Dentistry and has extensive experience in cosmetic dental procedures including zoom whitening, all ceramic crown, onlay and veneer preparation and restoration, SNAP on Smiles, complete smile makeovers with both orthodontic and restorative approaches.
Dr. Ma is a member of several professional organizations including the following: Fellow with the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD); Fellow with the International Congress of Oral Implantology (ICOI); Fellow of International Congress of Osseous Integration; the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD); The International Association of Comprehensive Aesthetics (IACA); the American Dental Association (ADA); the New Jersey State Dental Association (NJDA); and the Mercer County Dental Association. She is certified in digital smile design, digital dentistry, full mouth reconstruction smile makeover, same day teeth and all on four dental implants. She joined an expert oral surgery team in Brazil for four consecutive years for advanced dental surgeries. She is committed to outreach and has participated in dental outreach programs to Grenada, the Stanley Isaac Senior Center, the Health Screening Day in Brooklyn, NY and the Childrens Center in Harlem, NY.
Kate Sanderson joined Prime Dental Care in Spring 2019. She completed her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene at Middlesex County College in May, 2018 with highest honors. Kate immigrated to US after finishing her Masters of Finance from Russian State Social University. Upon coming to US, Kate discovered a passion for dentistry. She loves her job and enjoys educating and encouraging patients through their dental journey. Our patients enjoy her bubbly, positive personality and radiant smile. Kates favorite part of her job is providing patients the experience of excellent dental care and the feeling of a beautiful and healthy smile. In her free time, Kate loves to travel, dine out and spend time outdoors.

Kate is the best hygienist we have had. We used nearly 10 different dentists, and Kate is the most thorough and informative hygienist. She is very good with kids too that our four-year-old looks forward to dentist appt because of her.

I feel obligated to write this review and share the negative experience we had with this clinic for two family members of mine. The first experience is for my daughter. Before the treatment, the feedback we received from all other doctors was to pull out four teeth due to the crowded space on her jaw. Dr. Ma from this clinic was the only one promised she could do without teeth extraction. One theory she had to support this was, based on the X-ray, my daughter would never have wisdom teeth so would not cause further pressure to the current teeth (this turned out to be a lie as I explain later). As worried parents who wanted the kid to go through as little pain as possible, we happily chose this clinic even though we paid more than the quote we got from any other clinics. Two years later, my daughter finished her treatment. Yes, the teeth were aligned, but the problem was they were all angled outwards because of the lack of space. After an ideal orthodontics treatment, there are two targets: 1) the angle between the upper teeth and a line in the forehead should be 90 degrees; 2) the angle between the lower teeth and a line in the chin should be 90 degrees as well. For my daughter, they were 110 degrees and 103 degrees respectively!! Another issue is that the upper and lower teeth did not bite properly. What does it mean? It means we spend all the two years and the five or six thousand dollars for nothing. We either have to live with it and regret for the rest of our life or spend a few thousand dollars more and go through the process again (with teeth extraction)!! In addition, Dr. Ma's claim that she would not get wisdom teeth was proven to be completely bogus as all the four wisdom teeth were clearly visible from an X-ray we took recently!! We finally decided to switch her to another orthodontist and fix her treatment. The quality of service and level of professionalism from the new doctor is day and night difference from this clinic. Another experience is for my wife. Long story short, it is another complete waste of six thousand dollars and two years with minimum service from the doctor. To summarize, I sincerely suggest people stay away from this clinic and Dr. Ma for the following reasons: 1. Questionable ethics and professionalism 2. Qualification: I seriously doubt the doctor's qualification and capabilities for the issues I mentioned earlier. 3. Expensive: my current doctor charge two thousand dollars less but provides way better services. 4. Availability: office hours are limited and the doctor seems to be constantly on vacation with no backup 5. Long waiting time: it easily takes 40+ minutes in the waiting room even with appointment

Prime Dental Great Practice. I have been a patient for eight years. The staff is always helpful and friendly I definitely never feel like just a number. They have state of the art equipment and are very informative, but most of all I love doctor Ma she really cares and knows her stuff. I think I might be her favorite patient. Don't let me get started on my hygienist! Go see!!

For your own sanity and health, DO AVOID THIS PLACE AND "DENTIST" MA! This place does not treat your teeth, they treat your dental insurance. My first visit to this place, they didn't do any treatment using the excuse that "there is not enough time". They asked me to go there again, I was kept waiting outside for over an hour, and you know what, they examined my teeth again and charged even higher for doing nothing. They then asked me to go there a 3rd time. Long story short, I NEVER WENT TO THAT PLACE! I went to a different dentist, my problem was solved at the 1st visit.

I love coming here. The front office staff is amazing. They are all so knowledgeable about, well everything. I joke around w the staff too. You can tell they really enjoy their line of work, they are always happy and smiling when I visit. I will never go to another place while prime dental care is still around! Absolutely the best!

My experience with Dr Ma I intend to see a doctor for tooth implant and one that can speak Chinese. I looked through internet and I found Dr Ma. A few reviewers give 5 star rating, and commented very good about her treatments. I contacted her office and asked how that her website showing she is doing all the dental treatments? and asked especially how many dental implants she does. The lady told me that Dr Ma is doing one or two dental implants every week. Then I made the appointment. My nightmare began. One visit I intended for bone graft, she let her assistant to prepare root cannel procedure. I signaled the assistant to halt and told her I do not need root cannel because I will have filling with my family dentist. After telling that through, Dr Ma injected anesthesia. While I was still under anesthesia a lady bring the paper to let me sign. Her billing is a mess, the Flexible expense account company refuse to accept her receipts. A big lesson for me.

The team lead by Dr. Ma is extremely professional, I have had the chance to interact with many of them and they were all very informative, knowledgeable and ready to give me their perspective. Today was my first time at Prime Dental and the staff was very kind upon entry. I also did not have to wait to be seen by the dentist like I would have at other offices and when discussing my plan of treatment, I was given useful advice as well as options. Kate did a great job with my cleaning and managed to take the X-Rays without causing any pain. Dr. Patel was fantastic with explaining what procedures needed to happen and showing why on the X-Rays. He and Renisha also did a great job with getting me in and out of the office quickly with minimal discomfort. Would highly recommend!
