Dr. Priebe, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, has been serving south central Alaskan communities since 2002. He received his doctor of dental surgery (summa cum laude) from University of the Pacific, San Francisco, CA, in 1997. Dr. Priebe subsequently pursued his orthodontic training and graduated from the University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington, CT, with a master of dental science and a certificate in orthodontics in 2000.
Dr. Priebe is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, and the Alaska Dental Society. He has been inducted into the dental honor societies of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Tau Kappa Omega, and has co-authored original articles in The Angle Orthodontist and Seminars in Orthodontics.
While much can be condensed into a single statement of practice philosophy, Dr. Priebe likes to keep it simple: He is resolutely committed to pursuing the highest standards of orthodontic care while also offering competitive treatment fees.
Hi, my name is Kathy, and Im the office manager for Priebe Orthodontics. Ive been with Dr. Priebe since 2003 when he began his practice here. I have a great job! I get to work with many people on our team that I have known for years and really are more like family than coworkers. In fact, one of the team members is my youngest daughter, Jamie. I also love that the practice of orthodontics allows us to build a relationship with our patients while giving them a great smile, confidence, and overall, improving their oral health.
I was born in Wisconsin and came to Alaska with my parents. I graduated from East High and attended the University of Alaska Anchorage dental assisting program. Being in need of orthodontics myself, I became very interested in the specialty of orthodontics and took a position in an office where I was both assistant and receptionist. I have remained in orthodontics for 38 years. I have four grown children and nine grandchildren. I love being a grandmother!
I have worked for Dr. Priebe for about three years now and absolutely love it. I have been working in the orthodontic field since 2007 and couldnt imagine doing anything else! Being a part of helping create beautiful and healthy smiles is the greatest job ever.
I am the newest member to the team. I have been assisting since 2010. I first started off in a General Dental office and made my way into Orthodontics and absolutely loving it! I was born and raised in the Island of Guam, moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2009 and recently moved to Anchorage in April 2014. I enjoy spending time with my husband Tim and our dogs, Mojo, Dodger, and Mika.
MYTH:Orthodontists are appropriate only for the most challenging and complex orthodontic cases. FACT:Orthodontists have the education, experience and expertise to recognize the difference between a simple case and a complex one. And when a case is challenging, orthodontists know what to do.
MYTH:My family dentist says he can straighten my teeth. FACT:Orthodontists receive more formal education than dentists to specialize in straightening teeth. Like dentists, orthodontists graduate from dental school. Then, to be an orthodontist, it takes an additional two to three academic years of education in an accredited orthodontic residency program. Orthodontists are dentistrys specialists in straightening teeth and aligning jaws to create optimal function and form. Orthodontists only practice orthodontics. They treat hundreds of patients a year, drawing on tried-and-true and new orthodontic appliance technologies to get patients to the best results. Orthodontists have knowledge of the full range of orthodontic appliance toolsincluding braces, clear aligners and other orthodontic devices. They know what to use and when because they work with these tools every day. Orthodontists build on their knowledge of orthodontics through on-going continuing education in orthodontic technology and practice.
MYTH:If there was a giant, overhead magnet and someone flipped a switch, people wearing braces would fly out of their chairs and stick to the ceiling. FACT:Unlikely, as braces are made from non-magnetic materials.
MYTH:Braces are painful and take two years or more for the desired result. FACT:After the adjustment period, like breaking in a new pair of shoes, braces are comfortable. Some may be worn for months, not years.
MYTH:Braces are ugly, call attention to themselves and would be embarrassing in business settings. FACT:Todays braces may be nearly invisible, made from clear plastic, or unseen, mounted on the back (lingual) side of the teeth.

Both my daughters have gotten braces here and Priebe Orthodontics is so accommodating. Between the payment plan and getting us into either office location Soldotna or Anchorage their service is wonderful. We have one more kid to go and will definitely be bringing her here when it's time.

Dr Priebe Orthodontics is a wonderful practice. Everyone in the office is very professional, friendly and make you feel very welcome. My two oldest children have been going to Dr Priebe for several years, knowing that they both would need orthodontic work. They are very informative, upfront And honest. Recently we have started our oldest with Invisalign. I have to admit I was skeptical to this type of treatment as I have a some what irresponsible teenager. Dr Priebe thought it would be a good fit for my son and we went with his advice. Six months later we are well into our Invisalign journey and my son couldn't be happier with the his Invisalign's. I would highly recommend Priebe Orthodontics to anyone seeking a beautiful smile. Thank you for all that you have done for my kids Shannan

Always been quick and easy to get in/out from appointments. Only issue I recall having is making ONE appt because there just wasn't something in the prefered time slot with kids being in school. But we were referred here by our dentist for two (Maija K & Lyric C)and both have had good experiences on their side of things as well. Couldn't imagine going elssewhere.
