Dr. Bennett has always loved teeth, but it was his two grandfathers struggles with periodontal disease that prompted his interest in the specialty. Dr. Bennett is a skilled clinician, published researcher and educator who has a wealth of knowledge and clinical experience. He has advanced training and proficiency in not only traditional Periodontal Surgery, but also the newest techniques in Periodontology including bone grafting, Pinhole Technique gum grafting (Non-palatal, stitch-free gum grafting), Tunneling Technique gum grafting (Non-palatal, limited incision gum grafting), and laser assisted dentistry.
In addition to treating gum and oral bone-related conditions, Dr. Bennett has extensive experience in Implant Dentistry. Dr. Bennett is a two-time graduate of the University of Michigan where he completed his undergraduate (BS) and dental (DDS) degrees. He attended Indiana University for his post-doctoral training in Oral Biology, Periodontology and Implantology. During his tenure there, he served as the Chief Resident. While finishing his post-doctoral training, Dr. Bennett also taught pre-doctoral dental students.
Following his post-doctoral residency training, Dr. Bennett moved to the Pacific Northwest to practice in greater Seattle along with the Tri-cities (Richland) in Eastern Washington. In addition to his private practice in the State of Washington, he served as an Affiliate Clinical Instructor at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. There, he taught post-doctoral residents as they trained to become Periodontists.
In 2017, Dr. Bennett relocated to the DC Metropolitan where he has maintained a private practice. Dr. Bennett is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), the Maryland State Dental Association (MSDA), the Southern Maryland Dental Society (SMDS), and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. He was born in Indiana but grew up in Michigan and Pennsylvania. While English is his native language, Dr. Bennett was a French and Francophone Studies minor in college and is conversational in the language. He spends his free time working out, reading, and giving back to the community with his wife Melanie.
Dr. Arjun Saggu hails from London, Nairobi, and Toronto, and takes pride in his international heritage. His passion for dentistry was nurtured by his father, who practiced as a general dentist. Dr. Saggu graduated magna cum laude with departmental honors at UCLA with a degree in Human Biology and Society. He continued his education at University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.
After developing a keen interest in periodontics, Dr. Saggu completed an additional three years of training at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine where he served as Chief Resident and received his Certificate of Periodontology. In addition to his surgical training, Dr. Saggu earned his Masters of Medical Sciences (MMSc) degree in oral biology, where he validated an optical probe for chairside diagnosis of periodontal diseases. He went on to present his findings at the 2020 American Academy of Periodontology Annual Meeting and was selected as a finalist within the national clinical research competition.
Dr. Sharma completed his bachelors degree in Biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. He attended and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from New York University College of Dentistry. After graduating, Dr. Sharma also completed advanced training in a three-year Periodontics residency program from New York University College of Dentistry.
As a scholar and member of the American Board of Periodontology, Dr. Sharma is a specialist proficient in the treatment of periodontal disease, gum disease, ridge/sinus augmentation, soft tissue grafting, and implant placement. Dr. Sharma has a true passion for Dentistry and is committed to providing exceptional dental care with patient comfort and satisfaction.

Dr Bennett and staff are very professional in dealing with their patients. I appreciate their patience, kindness and very humble dispositions. Dr Bennett took the time to have a pre-meet before the surgery to not only explain but to invote me to call back if I had additional questions or concerns. He exhibited many characteristics of a decent human being. I tell you, decency goes a long way. I highly recommend their business. Ask for Dr Bennett.

I walked out feeling really good about the dentist after my first appointment. But navigating the subsequent appointments and payments has proved to be difficult. Fragmentated - no one knows from files and asking the patient about what doctor plans to do in next appointment for the procedure. I wish they put in good notes and evoke more trust in the services by knowing what they are doing

Everything has been positive from the moment I called to schedule and the office manager, Liz was able to accommodate me. A friendly smile received me at the front desk (Kim). A helpful nurse eased my fears and held my hand. (Khadine). Dr. Bennett was very professional and honest about my treatment plan. Kathy did an extensive amount of work in my mouth with her hands of gold. I HIGHLY recommend this practice.

Dr. Saggu is an amazing periodontist. He took his time to explain the whole process and he made sure I understand the entire treatment . Dr. Saggu listened to my concerns about not wanted to loose anymore of my tooth. I had infected gum with very deep pockets and not to mention bacteria . Dr. Saggu did a laser surgery on the lower section of my mouth , I am impress with the work he did because my gum was in a state of loosing a few teeth , which i did not want and fortunately i did not loose any . Thank you Dr.Saggu for saving my teeth on the lower section of my mouth . I cannot wait for you to take care of the upper section of my mouth. His assistant Lani and Kim are friendly and kind, they made me feel comfortable in their own way. They are FANTASTIC. And not forgetting Emily at the front desk . She is amazing . I was highly impressed with Dr. Bennett and all his staff since my first appointment, but I wanted to wait until I had my surgery to write a review. So, here I go. I had 3 consultations with different periodontists before seeing Dr. Bennet. I didn't feel comfortable with any of the 3 previous dentists. None of the had empathy and I felt some of them were very judgmental. After looking at some reviews, I found Dr. Bennet. I was so nervous to see a periodontist for the fourth time, but as soon as I came in to the office, everyone was very friendly and kind. Dr. Bennet took time to explain the whole process and he made sure I understood the treatment. His sweet assistant Kadhine made me feel comfortable and treated me so well, I was sure I was in great hands. Great staff, clean and brand new look office with modern equipment. In the same appointment, I scheduled my gum graft surgery and he gave all the instructions and prescriptions I would need. 2 weeks later I had my surgery - everything went well and the process was totally painless. After less than 2 hours I was ready to go home and waiting for the pain to start to take my medication. To my surprise, I didn't take any medicine because I didn't feel ANY pain. The surgery was way better than I expected. Today I had my follow up and I am very happy with the result.

I have had a ton of dental work done over the past several years. Silver Spring Periodontics is the most professional, friendly, effective dental office I have visisted. The service is excellent. Dr. Bennett clearly and patiently explains all the work he will be doing and he does an excellent job. The office staff is extremely professional and friendly. They are authentic, warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and answered my MANY questions. The overall atmosphere of the office has a welcoming vibe and is very clean. Upon arrival, I was met with temperature check and sanitizer, which was appreciated. I witnessed the staff quickly sanitizing customer areas, chairs... pretty much everything. The staff were really taking the utmost safety precautions, so that was a plus. If you are looking for a practice that meets your needs professionally and provides you a "family feel" this is it!
