A board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, Dr. Mohammed Erakat, holds doctoral degrees from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and New Jersey Medical School. In his clinical practice, Dr. Erakat incorporates his background in dentistry, medicine and surgery in order to practice the full-scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a particular emphasis on dental implants and the All-On-4 Solution for New Teeth in a Day.
Born and raised in San Francisco, California, Dr. Erakat completed his undergraduate training at the University of California, San Diego where he obtained his BS in Microbiology in 2001. He then attended Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he obtained his DMD and took an interest in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Erakat then attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry at New Jersey where he completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency. During this time he also obtained his Medical Doctorate from the New Jersey Medical School and completed a one year internship in general surgery. During his residency training he also participated in clinical research which has been published in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants.
Dr. Erakat is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Diplomat of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, member of the American Dental Association and American Medical Association. He is an attending doctor at Somerset Medical Center in New Jersey where he treats patients with maxillofacial trauma. Dr. Erakat has had the privilege of lecturing at the New Jersey Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and presenting his research on immediately loaded implants at the national meeting of the American Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
In addition to his professional skills and educational background, Dr. Erakat is dedicated to giving back to the community and has participated with non-profit groups such as Healing the Children, where he treated both children and adults abroad, suffering from severe facial deformities.

It saddens me to write this review due to my very short interaction with Dr. Erakat. I brought my 15-year-old daughter into Dr. Erakat's office to remove her wisdom teeth for a consultation. I did a lot of research on dental surgeons in NJ, and we were impressed with his reviews and expertise. Unfortunately, Dr. Erakat's lack of bedside manner and professionalism has deterred my daughter and me from moving forward with the surgery with his practice. Dr. Erakat walked into the room and immediately started to talk about my daughter's dental images. This was our first time at the office, we'd never met him before, and a preschooler would've known to walk in and at least say, "Hi, how are you? I'm Dr. Erakat" then lead into your spiel. So he came in and started talking at us, talking as if my daughter was an adult like I wasn't in the room, and he never checked to see if we had any knowledge about anesthesia or the procedure in general. After he finished talking at us, I looked at him and said, "Hello, nice to meet you," to give him a hint that he was shrewd and rude. Dr. Erakat spent maybe 5 minutes with us in total. He was very short, especially when I informed him that my daughter would be having a deviated septum surgery and asked him if there was a preference to have one of the surgeries before the other and the waiting period between surgeries. I've worked with and have seen an array of doctors, and unfortunately, Dr. Erakat was one of the rudest I've encountered. If the person going to perform surgery on my child can't give her the time and attention she deserves to make her feel comfortable, I don't want them anywhere near her. We will NOT return nor recommend this dental office. I don't know if Dr. Erakat is just really busy or if he didn't want to work with us. Either way, we will find a dentist that greets us, takes the time to explain the procedure, and someone who actually wants to work with us.

Dr Mohammed is something else. I live about an hour away yet still drove all the way to this guy because I researched him and You can tell he knows what he's doing, he's perfect. Big thank you to him and his team from receptionists to everyone I had to deal with.

I love this office, best dental experience yet. I went in wanting to be put to sleep for an extraction, and while they offered it, these guys made me feel comfortable enough to decide to do it without any sedation. Everyone was so sweet and kept the mood light and relaxed. Dr. Erakat took that thing out painlessly in minutes. He numbed the area and I felt pressure and I thought he'd just gotten started when he said we're all done! It's been almost a week and it's been a smooth healing. I couldn't be more grateful. Thank you guys!!

Dr. Erakat and his staff especially Olivia and Ashley made the experience of having an extraction much less painful (literally) than I anticipated. I appreciate that I was seen immediately after arriving for my appointment, and the same for my follow up. The choices of treatment was throughly explained and easy to understand. Dr. Erakat performed the surgery with exceptional skill resulting in little discomfort later. Thanks again to all the staff of Prestige Oral Surgery.

Update 2022! Returned for another tooth extraction. I have extreme anxiety about getting dental work done and during every step of this process, from scheduling the appointment to the surgery itself, Dr. Erakat and his team made me feel comfortable and at ease. Not once did I feel like I was being judged for the state of my teeth, or anything like that. I would reccomend anyone who needs dental work done, to get it done here. 1,000,000 stars . Thank you again Dr. Erakat and you're whole team. ..... Original review: I have never felt more taken care of and cared for, than at Prestige Oral Surgery. From the moment I went into the office I felt very safe and welcomed. The office staff are absolutely some of the most kind people I've ever met, and made me felt right at ease. I had the pleasure of meeting Laura and Ashley, and they were knowledgeable as well as understanding. I had one of my back molars extracted, in a bit of an emergency situation and the procedure was done expertly and with wonderful bedside manner. Dr. Erakat was absolutely incredible. I cannot say enough good things about him. If I could give this place 100 stars, I would. I would recommend Prestige Oral Surgery to anyone who needed work done. Thank you again!!

I absolutely love this place. Fist off the people are so friendly. I was very nervous and they made me feel very comfortable. The office itself is beautiful. Very nice art work and they have coffee and water for you in the waiting area. They had the music playing which helped my nerves. Lastly, they did my extraction with little to no pain. It was very quick and they were very professional. I would 100% recommend this place!!

Dr Erakat is an amazing oral surgeon. He is very companionate to his patient and quick. No pain whatsoever, no wait. I'm so happy to find him and happy to recommend him. We were referred to Prestige Oral Surgery, for a consultation. I was really blown away by first the customer service and pleasant demeanor of the front staff, Emily and Ashley. They went out of their way to get me the help I needed. Dr. Erakat is a great doctor, patient and on point with his diagnosis. I found in him, real concern for the patient and he made sure we received the right help. A big shout to Ashley who went out of her way, to help me with any follow up I had. I am so happy to recommend Prestige Oral Surgery, should you need to see one. It is rare to see such a compassionate and efficient practice.

After having some discomfort related to my wisdom teeth I started inquiring with friends and family for a recommendation for a good oral surgeon and almost everyone suggested Dr Erakat at Prestige. I was seamlessly able to make an appointment for a consultation. During my consultation Dr Erakat explained what was causing me discomfort and clearly stated the risks and benefits associated with the different treatment options. Ultimately I opted to have my wisdom teeth extracted. The guidance that was given for preparing for the procedure was extremely beneficial as I was able to easily make preparations for the surgery and recovery period. On the day of the surgery, Dr Erakat and his staff clearly went over post surgery care with both myself and my wife so that we knew what needed to be done to prevent any complications. The surgery itself was very successful and the recovery time frames as described by Dr Erakat during the consultation were in line with my recovery. Overall I couldn't have asked for a better experience for a difficult procedure. I highly recommend Dr Erakat and Prestige for any Oral Surgery needs.

I am a veteran of the U.S. armed forces-during my procedure I found that one of the staff is an officer. My doctor there is Dr. Erakat. He, and his staff were amazing! They were made to work together with clients in this type of industry. I did not feel rushed, his assistant took my xray, she had black short hair- and was very professional. The staff overall was very classy, and attended to their patients. They even put trap music on for a teen so he could at least have something familiar to listen to that will calm him during his procedure. I'm glad I found them, and highly recommend them to anyone in my circle of soldiers, list of professionals in the field, and family. Thank you Dr. Erakat

For someone that absolutely hates going to the dentist or oral surgeon, the folks at Prestige Oral Surgery made me feel very comfortable! They were able to explain everything in great detail for what I needed to get done and had taken care of me in a very timely manner. The staff are very friendly and Dr. Erakat was exceptional with the procedure. Highly recommend!

I recently went to Prestige Oral Surgery for a tooth removal and Dr Erakat and his staff went above and beyond for me. Ashley, Olivia and everyone involved throughout the whole process were nothing but professional and friendly and Dr Erakat was extremely precise, efficient and my surgery was quick and painless. Prior to my visit i was in alot of pain with a bad tooth due to a poor filling. The tooth had to be removed and the Dr and his staff made sure everything went smoothly, i am a week out of surgery and already healed due to their efficiency and skill. I would highly recommend this surgeon to anyone in need as i would rate it 5/5. I will continue to use this surgeon for any of my future needs. I'm 20 years old and was very nervous about getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth out but wow I could not have asked for a better experience!!! They were absolutely amazing. All worries I had were addressed and the staff was extremely friendly and comprehensive. I felt no pain with the meds prescribed to me and feel great, it's been about a week and I'm not taking any meds anymore for pain. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars!!! I will be recommending Prestige Oral to all my friends and family!!

I had my 3 wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Erakat earlier this month, and it was a first-rate experience. During the before and after consultations and the surgery itself, Dr. Erakat was professional, outstandingly skilled, and transparent. He answered all our questions while being both informative and honest, even about the potential complications from the procedure. Thanks to Dr. Erakat's amazing skills, I had a very smooth and speedy recovery, better than what I had heard from anyone else about theirs. Ashley from the front desk was just the best, from beginning to end. She was so professional, efficient, and helpful. Emily was also very professional and helpful on the phone. If anyone else is looking for who to go to get their wisdom teeth removed, I highly recommend Dr. Erakat.

I had a tooth extraction done by Dr. Erakat. I was quite nervous going in but Dr. Erakat thoroughly explained the entire process and made me feel at ease. The procedure was quick and easy.
