Dr. Alice Urbankova is a graduate of Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. She began her full-time academic career at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, in the Division of Operative Dentistry. Besides teaching students operative dentistry using traditional methods, she became engaged in teaching through simulation technology. She devised and implemented a virtual simulation teaching method in the pre-clinical curriculum to wide acclaim. Her research and expertise in simulation technology led to a consultancy with Image Navigation Ltd., and she trained and calibrated faculty at eight North American Dental Schools, and was a trainer and instructor at forty dental schools throughout North America and Europe in simulation teaching methods. She also became a consultant to IDEA Inc. and MOOG Inc., using both haptic technology for simulation learning and skill assessment. She was recruited to Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine where she revised and implemented a new operative dentistry curriculum, with virtual reality simulation at its core. She became Division Director of Operative Dentistry, and besides teaching, clinical instruction, developing lectures and operative curriculum syllabi, she conducted numerous research projects validating simulation technology in dental education. She also became involved in research projects in areas on disease prevention and relationships to systemic health such as diabetes.
In addition to her DDS from Columbia University, Dr. Urbankova holds the Doctor of Medicine degree (MUDr), with a Specialty in Dentistry from Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic, and a PhD from Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic for her dissertation, The Role of Simulation Technology in Pre-Clinic and Clinical Operative Dentistry Performance, and Dental School Admissions: A Novel Method for Identifying Non-Cognitive Skill Development Potential.
Besides her wide range of medical and dental training, she finds that the arts and its various forms painting, sculpting, photography, jewelry design and fabricationare an inspiration for methods to achieve cosmetic dentistry. She brings a unique approach to dentistry combining art and science.

Dr. Engebretson served for seven years as Associate Editor of the Journal of Periodontology, and has served on numerous committees for the American Academy of Periodontology. He was awarded a U.S. patent for Methods for Facilitating Metabolic Control, and has several additional patents pending. He is the founder of KT Therapeutics, LLC, and OraDelivery, LLC, privately-held biotechnology companies, and is a prolific author and lecturer.
Dr. Engebretson also is a frequent guest on Sirius Dr. Radio, a nationally broadcast live interview and call-in radio program, answering questions to listeners about periodontal health and dental implants.

Maintaining a proper oral health care regimensuch as daily brushing and flossing, and regular professional care including examination, dental cleanings (prophylaxis), X-rays, and preventive treatmentswill help ensure the long-term success of your dental treatment.
Our team works with each patient individually to develop a personalized treatment plan, including recommendations of products for you to use to maintain a healthy smile. We will also inform you of how often you should have re-care visits. Depending on the individual condition, these visits may be every three, four or six months apart.
It is our mission to provide you with affordable, high-quality treatment. Payment is due for services rendered at the time those services are provided unless you have made other arrangements with us in advance. We offer a variety of payment options to meet your needs. Our office accepts payments by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards. If you have any questions about financing or payment, please ask us!
Our goal is to help you achieve and maintain optimal dental care. We will send you a monthly statement. Most insurance companies will respond within four to six weeks. Please call our office if your statement does not reflect your insurance payment within that time frame. Any remaining balance after your insurance has been paid is your responsibility. Your prompt remittance is appreciated. We can make arrangements for a monthly payment plan but this must be done prior to the actual procedure.
Our goal is to help you to achieve and maintain optimal dental care. Our staff if highly trained and will work with your insurance company to maximize your dental insurance benefits. The benefits you will receive are based on the terms of the contract that were negotiated between your employer and the insurance company, not the dental office. Unfortunately, some of the services that you may needor wantwill not be covered by your dental insurance.
As a courtesy, we will file insurance claims to insurance companies for you in order to receive reimbursement. All patients are expected to pay their estimated portion on the day treatment is received. Since all insurance plans differ in coverage, deductible, and Usual and Customary Rates (UCR), we can only estimate what your insurance company will pay. If there is any balance or credit remaining after your insurance company pays, then you will be billed or credited the difference. Just finished another cleaning with Dr. Urbankova at preserve your teeth! It's incredible the way you feel when leaving. She treats your teeth like jewelry and you get an education at the same time. Her assistant Susie and husband Dr. Steve make the package complete. Extremely insightful and innovative they always look to prevent and do an amazing restorative job. I highly recommend them to those who are educated, and care more about quality. Thank you again for taking care of my friends and me.

There are lot of doctors who are in the medical profession of dentistry and for majority of them the sole purpose is money not because they genuinely care about your teeth. They pile one treatment after the other to extract as much money from you as possible. But it was our pleasure and privilege to meet Dr.Alice Urbankova who is in this business because she is truly passionate about people's teeth and dental health. My husband was diagnosed for a root canal by his regular dentist but Dr . Alice overturned that verdict and did the procedure with laser (quite iconoclastic) We have still our second visit but my husband feels very comfortable in her hands. She answers each and every question patiently. I will be recommending her to all my friends and family

i've been having some issues with my teeth lately. I grind in my sleep causing my teeth to constantly chip (but my night guard definitely helps!) and due to a medication I had to take as a kid, i have little to no enamel on my teeth, erosion and slight discoloration. yesterday I went to Dr. Alice Urbankova from Preserve Your Teeth, and she's helping me get my beautiful smile back! She did laminate veneer bonding on my front two teeth, and at the end of next month i'm going back to so the same on the three next to them (on the left side). I am beyond happy with her work! I could scream from the rooftops how excited I am!! At my consultation with her, i was in tears hearing about the damage in my mouth, but she was so sweet and honest, and she really put me at ease. I am so happy! I can smile without worrying now (and come 4/29, the remaining three teeth that need to done will look just as amazing). THANK YOU, DR. Urbankova!!

Preserve your Teeth is an excellent facility which has a wonderful approach towards dental health. As the name implies, they put a great emphasis on prevention rather than painful and often impermanent periodontal surgeries. Since I've been there, my teeth have never felt better. They helped me managed my receding gum line to the point where they are stable and healthy. Dr. Urbankova is an extremely knowledgeable dentist who originally studied as a periodontist. She has given me so much insight into how I can best take care of my teeth at home. I greatly appreciate how she clearly explains the state of my teeth and how she applies a moisturizing cream to prevent my lips from drying during the cleaning, which no other dentist has done for me before and makes the experience much more comfortable! I strongly recommend Preserve your Teeth Dentistry.

a bit uneasy. I was very excited to find specialists who work toward preventative & holistic care, however I feel i've gotten taken advantage of because of my desperation of help. I understand dental work is not cheap. However, I had an appointment for periodontal work with a $200 cleaning added on. Knowing my general dentist does cleanings for free, I got a cleaning from him the day before my procedure. Before this, I called twice to cancel their cleaning and double checking it would be ok, and there was a double confirmation it was fine. The next day, I get to my appointment for my procedure, and I am told that i still need to have their cleaning because it's "different" - and as the cleaning proceeded, there was no difference to what I had gotten the day before. On top of that, my initial consultation was priced almost $200 over what i was initially told because it was "lengthy", being that I had a few questions about what was going to happen during said procedure. I understand in pricing for your value, however I feel taken advantage of because if I didn't let them do the cleaning, they wouldn't have continued with the periodontal procedure. So now in total, i am almost an extra $400 out of my pocket that I wasn't prepared to spend, and this is only after two visits. Awaiting to see the results for my treatment; eager to see positive results but terrified of knowing what financial commitments are ahead if I find myself happy with the results.

Before I found Dr. Urbankova, I had visited several dental offices here in Texas, and was told there was no hope for me except extraction. I took the time to find someone more skilled and had a good feeling about Alice. I spoke to her over the phone, and she showed so much kindness, knowledge, confidence and competence. Right away I had a good feeling I was going to be in excellent hands. When I arrived I had LANAP treatment done first, and the improvement that followed in the health of my gums was overwhelmingly positive, especially since I had not had any kind of dental procedures done. I had so much energy immediately afterwards. Ultimately she was able to restore the functionality my troubled teeth. I did need a root canal for one of my badly decayed tooth, which had been decayed for 7 years in total. After the root canal she was able to restore my tooth to its full functionality with an Emax onlay. For my second tooth, she successfully restored the tooth without ANY root canal, and did a specialized technique of direct pulp capping. Words cannot express the deep gratitude I have for her taking me on as a patient, and restoring the health of my whole mouth. I wish I could give 20 stars. Thank you so very much Alice. If there is anyone in need of rescuing their tooth and wondering where to go, you will be in extremely good hands with Dr. Urbankova. She is a QUEEN and really is an honor to be treated by her.

Dr. Urbankova is an amazing dentist. When many dentists suggested I remove all of my teeth , Dr. Urbankova did not believe that was necessary and today I still have my teeth thanks to Dr. Urbankova and her hard work and procedures. After a very upsetting experience with a former dentist who I had been loyal to for many years, I was searching for a dentist who was compassionate, competent and able to successfully treat a chronic issue that I had been contending with for over a decade. I am happy to say that I have found an extraordinary team at Preserve Your Teeth Dentistry. Dr. Urbankova and Dr. Engebretson are far superior to any dentist and periodontist in the field. They utilize state of the art technology to not only remedy existing problems but also to correct the underlying issues. Their office is clean and they are extremely professional and knowledgeable. Dr. Engebretson performed a surgery that I had been reluctant to do sooner because I frankly did not trust any other dentist or periodontist to do it before I met him and Dr. Urbankova. I am very glad that I took a leap of faith with Dr.Engebretson because my chronic issue is now easier to manage and I do not need to see the dentist on a monthly basis as I had before to prevent painful inflammation. Switching to Preserve Your Teeth Dentistry was one of the best decisions that I have made in recent years.

As someone who was terrified of the Dentist, Dr. Urbancova is incredibly kind, gentle and understanding. Using the latest technology she delivers a pain free and comfortable experience. Even after my very first treatment I could feel the difference. My mouth is cleaner, fresher and healthier thanks to Dr. Urbancova and the laser cleaning treatment.

I couldn't imagine anyone else caring for my teeth. How proactive, gentle and educational they are. I have been a patient for 15yrs and am in a much better place then where I started. Never needing any invasive surgery since all the work was corrected in my mouth. The care and atmosphere in the office is second to none, and could t imagine anyone else caring for my mouth but them. You don't find dentist like this anywhere! I think of them as family

Dr. Urbankova is the best dentist that I ever had. She uses top notch laser technology and is doing unique procedures to safe the teeth alive. Dr. Urbankova is a very skilfull perfectionist and is the only dentist that I know to rebuild the teeth instead of covering them with crawns. Her work is not just conventional dentistry she is really doing art. I appreciate everything that she did for me and my wife, and will recommend her to all of my friends.

Excellent dentist, dr.Urbankova did amazing job with my teeth with laser. She is allways smiling and pation with everyone, I am traveling from Connecticut to see her in Long Island. She returned my smile and confidence!Dr.Urbankova renewated my front 4 teeth and they looked great, and now I'm looking like movie actress. I will recommend her Dental office!

Dr. Urbankova is both a scientist who works on the cutting edge and an artist. She's very straightforward and clear about what she's doing and why. She's also a creative problem solver. One of my adult kids was told by other dentists that to repair a central gap between teeth that had chipped, she'd have to have both teeth shaved down and capped. Instead, Dr. Urbankova built up the existing teeth, leaving my daughter with a confident smile for the first time in years. That was a few years ago, and the repair is completely stable. The staff are also highly capable and friendly. I recommend Preserve Your Teeth without reservation.

She is the absolute best. I came to her in an emergency with a chipped front tooth and she repaired it beautifully. I've had a broken front tooth since I was 12 years old due to a skateboarding accident and have had multiple dentists try to fix it but every couple of years the filling would break off. When I went to Dr Urbankova she knew exactly why previous Dentists were unsuccessful and fixed my tooth with an technique that has given me a beautiful smile without chipping for over 10 years now. I've been loyal to her ever since and travel all the way from LA, where I live now, to get my yearly cleanings and all other dentistry work. I also must say that her knowledge of Dentistry is unmatched and she deeply cares for each of her patient's teeth. It comforts me to hear her explain how the mouth and teeth function together and hear about techniques that PRESERVE your teeth rather than thinking a drilling or a filling is the right solution. Highly recommend her for anyone who is very serious about learning about how to properly take care of your teeth and investing time into developing a great smile.

Preserve Your Teeth Dentistry is an excellent dental practice, and Dr. Urbankova is one of the best dentists I have had. The appointment process is easy, and I am always sent plenty of reminders. Her husband is a periodontist in the practice as well who is a valuable asset for one's dental treatment plan.
