Dr. Shah graduated from the Honors College at University of Illinois, Chicago in biomedical engineering in 1996. After completing a chemical engineering internship at a dental materials company, he decided to pursue dentistry. He received a full academic scholarship to the University of Illinois Dental School. He maintained the highest standards throughout dental school while conducting research during all four years. Dr. Shah stayed active in Dental School Council and was elected as the President of the Dental School Council.

Upon completion of his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2000, Dr. Shah pursued his interest in biomechanics and orthodontics at the New York University orthodontics program. While finishing his orthodontics program, Dr. Shah was also a faculty member in the restorative and radiology department at the NYU School of Dentistry. He completed his orthodontics residency in 2002.

Dr. Shah is a specialist in orthodontics. He has further distinguished himself amongst his peers by becoming a board-certified orthodontist with the American Board of Orthodontics. Although some dentists offer braces, only five percent of dentists are orthodontists, and only one percent have completed board certification.

Dr. Shah and his family currently reside in Aurora, IL. He and his wife are raising four children and are very active in all the children's activities. Dr. Shah enjoys coaching basketball, soccer, and baseball for various youth organizations, and enjoys golfing, hiking, and skiing.

For more than 25 years, Dr. Curtis Imel has focused on giving his patients high-quality orthodontic care with superior aesthetic results. He appreciates the positive effect that braces and orthodontic treatment can have on his patients lives, and feels fortunate to have the ability to help people improve their appearance and outlook on life.

Dr. Imel is dedicated to providing the best orthodontic care for his patients. His commitment to continuing education makes it all possible. He participates in numerous continuing education courses, including American Association of Orthodontists and Illinois Society of Orthodontists meetings, and has attended the Kois Center for advanced dental education.

A native of Earlville, IL, Dr. Imel has made Ottawa, IL his home since 1982. He and his wife Donna have seven children, five of whom are adopted. Dr. Imels free time is focused on his family: he spends as much time with them as possible. He enjoys fishing and playing golf, and is active in church and school activities.

Donna loves to meet new people. Her loves include camping with her husband Rick and spending time with her 2 children, Manny and Crystal, who live in the suburbs. Her hobbies are reading and crafting.

Michele has worked in this office for 26 years. In 1990, she started as an assistant, then as a treatment coordinator, and finally as a financial coordinator. When not at work she loves to travel with her husband Rudy and kids, Staci and Kipp. They have a golden retriever named Murphy who is the center of the familys life. The entire family loves going to Cubs games and cheering on the Hawkeyes!

Carmin resides in the Streator area. She started as an orthodontic assistant in 2010 and is now a financial coordinator, providing assistance with financial contracts and insurance claims. Carmin enjoys following the activities of her two daughters, University of Illinois athletics, and vacationing annually to Disney World with her family.

Kym was born and raised in Peru, Illinois. She has worked for Dr. Shah for 13 years and enjoys working as an orthodontic assistant. Kym has three children, two daughters and a son, which includes a set of twins! All three are in college! Kym enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her children, and loves summertime! She is a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Blackhawks.

Clarisse was a patient of Dr. Shah and now is excited about having a career working with him. She enjoys the patients and helping to make their smiles more beautiful. Spending time on fishing trips with her family in the summertime is one of her favorite things to do, along with spoiling her dog Winnie.

Laura is our in-house lab technician and has been in the dental field for more than 23 years. She loves seeing the end results in orthodontics when the braces come off and is excited to make the retainers to keep their smiles beautiful. Laura enjoys spending her summers boating with her husband and their dog, Ruby. She loves to grill out and spend time in the garden. As an avid sports fan she loves to watch and cheer on the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks.

Marcia has worked in the orthodontic field for more than 45 years. She loves her job, being with her co-workers, and making beautiful smiles. Marcias hobbies include quilting, shopping, and yard work. She also enjoys wintering in Mesa, Arizona with her husband, Mike.

Shelly has worked for Dr. Imel for 19 years and is one of the financial coordinators. She attended Illinois State University and received her Bachelors in Business Administration. She was an assistant for 8 years and now schedules and does the financial contracts. She loves to see the beautiful smiles that result from orthodontics. Shelly enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters and their yellow lab and two cats. Some of her favorite things to do are cheering on her daughter at sporting events, shopping, going to the beach and attending Chicago Cub games.

Amy has worked for Dr. Imel and Dr. Shah for 4 years. Shereceived her licensing in Dental Hygiene in 2010 from Parkland College. She worked in Private Practice before deciding to switch to orthodontics. She enjoys spending time with her husband Steven and daughter Vivienne whilebumming around their family farm. Her hobbies include being outdoors and pruning her flower gardenin the summertime.
