I have been a patient if Dr Ascencio for many years. His work is impeccable. He has utmost care and concern for his patients and makes us feel comfortable (as can be for the situation being treated). The staff is awesome as well-- just as compassionate and efficient. This is an excellent practice.

In pain? Need a root canal? Good luck in finding a better endodontist than Fernando Ascencio, DMD. Went into his office early on Tuesday morning, 9 March 2021, with a THROBBING toothache, due to an infected root canal. Was told before the procedure that when it was over, I could experience even MORE pain, and was given a recommended laundry list of OTC pain relievers. When the anesthesia wore off three hours later, there was NO pain, nor is there any pain 26 hours later. Be aware. It will be explained to you in clear terms that there are no guarantees, and that given a worst-case scenario, an extraction could be on the horizon. That said, if your tooth has the potential for restoration, Dr. Ascencio is THE man. Finally, and as a complete non sequitur, check out the following excerpt from his bio page: "During his free time, [Dr. Ascencio] enjoys serving on international mission trips and several ministries at his church ... Dr. Ascencio has been selected as a Top Endodontist by Pittsburgh Magazine every year since 2010." Still going to shop around for an endodontist? Okay. Follow up (and final) visit, 14 May 2021. It's a matter of protocol that, once an endodontic procedure has been performed, routine follow up is in order three months later. Not only were there NO problems, I'm just shocked the tooth could be saved at all. Final note - Dr. Ascencio is a paragon of knowledge and professionalism, second to none. In all sincerity, why would you go anyplace else? Update 2 June 2022 Needed another root canal today. I lucked out. Due to a cancellation, I was able to receive root canal therapy immediately. Dr. Ascencio was able to help me AGAIN. I'm 70 years old, and the number of times I've experienced this kind of professionalism can be counted on one hand. Update 17 August 2022 Needed yet ANOTHER root canal. Won't go anyplace else. Simple as that.

I went to Dr. Ascensi for a root canal, but it turned out it couldn't be done because the tooth was cracked. He and his staff were very nice and helpful.

Dr. Ascencio is the absolute best. I'd rather get a root canal from him than a filling at the dentist. He assures your comfort, checks in with you to be sure you're always comfortable, and does a fantastic job. He does quality painless work. I would travel almost anywhere to see this doctor when I need him!
