Dr Aaron McCann grew up in Western New York and graduated from Orchard Park High School. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame where he was a member of the mens lacrosse team. After graduating from Notre Dame, Dr Aaron McCann attended The University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where he met his best friend and wife Dr Brigid McCann who is now a pediatric dentist in western New York. Following graduation of dental school, they completed a general practice residency at Rochester General Hospital and then worked together on the Navajo nation with the Indian Health Service. Dr. Aaron McCann has served as a part-time attending faculty in the ECMC general residency program and worked as a general dentist in Buffalo prior to deciding to pursue a career in Endodontics.

He was accepted into the VA Long Beach Medical Center endodontic specialty program and decided to move with Dr Brigid and their daughter to California. During this residency, he was able to train with some of the most famous endodontists in the world. Following the two-year specialty residency, they decided to move back to Western New York to raise their family.

Dr Aaron McCann is a lifelong avid Bills and Sabres fan. During his free time, he enjoys cheering on Coach Brigid and his 3 daughters in their softball, soccer and gymnastics events as well as hiking, traveling and reading together.

Dr. Aaron McCann is excited to announce that Dr. Ariyan Ravangard has joined Precision Endodontics to help us make ourselves more available for daily emergency treatments in both our Southtowns and Northtowns offices.

Precision Endodontics, P.C. - Endodontist in Buffalo, NY

Dr. Ariyan Ravangard born and raised in Upstate, NY. After graduating New Hartford High School, she attended Binghamton University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in 2010, majoring in Biological Anthropology and minoring in chemistry.

Ariyan earned her DDS from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2014. She completed a concentration in Sports Dentistry, and participated in several dental outreach programs, including two trips to the Dominican Republic.

Ariyan continued on to a General Residency Program at St. Josephs Hospital in Syracuse, New York. During this time, she worked closely with specialists across all disciplines allowing her to expand her dental skills. In 2015 she returned to Buffalo, NY.

In Buffalo, Ariyan worked as a general dentist for 4 years before pursing her goal to be an endodontist. She was accepted to University at Buffalo and completed the program in 2021. While attending the program she was awarded the AAE Residents Research Award for her research completed during her time in residency. She has been extensively trained in both nonsurgical and surgical endodontic treatment.

Ariyan is pursuing her board certification, has already passed the written boards and is board eligible. In her free time, she enjoys boating, skiing, and working out. She is currently a member of the American Association of Endodontics, New York State Dental Association, the Eighth District Dental Society, and the American Dental Association.

The first thing we suggest is a recommendation from your general dentist. If you have confidence in your dentist, you can have confidence in the specialist to whom they refer you. Speak with friends and family who can share their personal opinions. Do some research on the specific doctor, such as where they did their training and how much training theyve had, what types of technology theyre using, and to ensure that they offer state-of-the-art treatment that follows the standard of care in every aspect.

A patient may be having difficulty with a previously performed root canal that might become re-infected. Maybe theres infection in a tooth on which youve had extensive restorative work. We can use a local surgery called an apicoectomy to help take care of that infection. We numb the area just as if you were having a regular root canal and, while looking through a microscope, work down from the top of the tooth, removing the source of infection and performing a reverse root canal.

The purpose of a dental dam is to keep an area clean to prevent bacteria even your own oral bacteria and saliva from getting back inside your tooth. The intent is to disinfect the inside of your tooth by using the dam to isolate the tooth. Its also beneficial if you are a gagger because nothing enters your mouth except your own saliva.

The success rate for root canal treatment is very high. When we complete treatment on a tooth that had no prior infection and was just beginning to show symptoms, a crown installed by your dentist will give you years or even decades of success with your tooth.

Teeth may hurt because of cavities that make them susceptible to cold, heat, or sweets. We can help determine why it hurts and find a way to relieve the pain. If theres swelling, you might have an abscess, and we can eliminate the infection, returning you to your pain-free life.

Physicians and researchers have conducted studies that reveal direct relationships between periodontal gum disease, heart disease and diabetes. Our bodies work interdependently. So if youre unable to keep your mouth in its healthiest possible condition, it can actually affect other issues such as diabetes. Its essential to see your dentist regularly and keep your mouth as healthy as possible.

The dental infection itself is really inside the tooth so, in order to solve the problem, we have to actually go inside that tooth and fix it. Antibiotics simply mask the symptoms and, if the problem isnt fixed, it usually comes back worse than the first time.

The focal infection theory, which contemplates the possibility that a tooth infection can cause infection in the whole body, is a question that frequently appears online and in discourse at holistic centers.

One way or another, bacteria found its way inside your tooth and caused infection. There may be a crack in your tooth or you may have had trauma to your tooth. Cavities are caused by bacteria slowly working their way inside the tooth and causing problems. The tooth will become inflamed, and you might have a toothache or sensitivity when you drink ice cold water or eat ice cream or other sweets.

Diet and/or hygiene-related habits are the main causes of tooth decay. The best way to prevent tooth decay is to brush your teeth several times a day (with a toothpaste containing fluoride) and to floss one time every day. As much as possible, avoid items such as acidic foods, soft drinks and candy. Foods containing sugar feed bacteria and cause cavities.

If you dislodge a tooth and a dentist or an emergency room staff member replaces it, contact an endodontist within two weeks. The timing is very important because root canal therapy can both save the life of and ensure the health of that tooth.

A lot of people ask, Why cant I just take an antibiotic and make the infection go away? If you take an antibiotic, it will help your symptoms go away, but the problem is inside the tooth. The only way to fix the problem is to go inside the tooth with a root canal procedure. We can actually go in and take care of the problem once and for all.

I received root canal treatment after experiencing terrible pain from an infection due to a cracked filling. I have a low tolerance for pain and a fear of the dentist and I have to say that my procedure was painless and over with before I knew it. Dr. McCann and his team (even coco the dog) were very professional and made me feel so comfortable. It was honestly a better, less painful experience than some fillings I've had done in the past from my general dentist. I recommend them 100%.

Thank you Dr. St. Marie for the incredible job you did today on my root canal! I have terrible anxiety when it comes to dental procedures, and he took all the time needed to make sure I was physically and emotionally comfortable before the procedure. He had incredible bedside manner, and was absolutely fantastic through the procedure. I absolutely, highly recommend him!!

This was my 1st time at this office. I can not say enough about the overall pleasant experience the staff and Dr. McCann at Precision made me feel. They made me feel at ease and even made me laugh a few times (not easy when your mouth is in locked open mode). Best painless root canal experience I have ever had. Professional yet casual atmosphere and very calming when Coco comes to visit you. Thank you for the excellent quality care I received.

I cannot say enough about Dr. Ravangard! She was amazing as was her staff. Thorough explanations were provided and the treatment plan was clearly explained. I've had root canals in the past that were quite uncomfortable to say the least. I literally had NO pain or discomfort on either of my 2 appointments. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the office and the level of professionalism displayed by everyone. I would highly recommend Dr. Ravangard!

Decided to go here for a root canal and was a bit nervous as I have never had this procedure done before. What I was expecting to be a long and painful experience turned out to be painless and quick (roughly an hour). Highly recommend this place to anyone needing this procedure!

Candy Unger--I had a root canal done by Dr. Ravangard, I never felt a thing, even days later--never. And I am a huge chicken, I cannot understand how they did this so painlessly, seemingly effortlessly. I thought they must be good because all of the reviews said the same thing---but now I truly believe it. Don't worry about it if you have a RC coming up---it's not going to hurt. They should give it a new name however. "Root canal" has a bad reputation.

I had a wonderful experience with Precision Endodontics. I literally had two root canals scheduled a week apart with Dr. Ravangard. She was fantastic. She has a very calming demeanor which puts you at ease immediately. She is very skilled at her profession. I didn't feel any pain during the procedures and not much discomfort after the numbness wore off either. I definitely recommend Precision Endodontics and Dr. Ravangard.

I just got a root canal done and I heard horrible stories and how painful they are. Aaron and his staff were incredible and I didn't feel any pain. They numbed it and it was completely painless. He talked through what he was going to do and had music playing. Best dental experience I ever had. Thank you so much!!!

I never thought I'd post a positive review about a root canal, but it is needed. I was in agony with my tooth! I couldn't wait the three weeks everyone else said it would take. I called here and they scheduled me the next day, with preparation to do the procedure right then. I am a high anxiety dental procedure person. Terrified. And with that, I have to say that every staff person is friendly and compassionate. Dr. Connie and her assistant were the perfect balance of patient, professional and skilled. My tooth was not straightforward, so a lot had to be explained. There was genuine kindness and they did everything to make me feel comfortable. I literally felt no pain once the initial diagnostic tests were done. They even matter sure you don't feel the pinch of the needle. I truly feel Dr. Connie's meticulousness has led to my recovery being nothing but tightness, no pain. If you're scared of a root canal, Dr. Connie is a great choice to ease your anxiety.
