Keep in mind, your jaw joint is similar to the other joints in the body. When you hurt your knee or your hip, your doctor will usually tell you to stay off of it for a while to let it heal. Your TMJ is no different. If your TMJ is damaged in any way, its important to rest it. We usually recommend going on a soft diet for a while to see if that helps your pain at all.
Ever wear a knee wrap or brace? Depending on the situation, your surgeon may prescribe a bite splint that acts in a similar way, by supporting your jaw in its correct position relative to the joint. This can reduce pain and prevent further damage. Some patients respond well to this mouthpiece and find relief for months or years; others do not. And even those who do find relief may need to take additional measures in the future. Sometimes, however, people find complete relief and never have any issues again.
In more severe cases, the only lasting treatment for a TMJ disorder is surgery. Of course, all surgeries have risks, and our surgeons at PRECiDENT will carefully consider all other options, first. If surgery is necessary for optimal health, then your surgeon will review all of your health history and risk factors to minimize any potential complications.

My daughter had TMJ surgery almost 1 year ago. Not only was her surgery successful, but the love and care Dr. Bolding and his team have shown has been above and beyond my expectations. I HIGHLY recommend Precident, Dr. Bolding, and his team!

Dr. Bolding and his staff - including reception and billing - have all been fantastic. I've had TMJ issues for the last several years and was recommended to his office after typical resolutions were unsuccessful. He has been comprehensive and conscientious in testing and diagnosis, before and after care for the surgery, and in answering any question I've had in follow-up. Highly recommended.

Dr. Bolding and his staff are awesome!! They are super friendly and always willing to help. Dr Bolding spends time with you and explains everything thoroughly. I ended up not needing surgery but if I did I wouldn't hesitate to have him as my surgeon.

My 16 year old had tmj surgery with Dr. Bolding he was so carring and explained everything so well. Is staff are so carring has well. He changed my daughter's life she had a lot done. She looks amazing. She had her second visit after surgery today. She hugged him and thanked him it was so awesome. The Pepper Family would most definitely recommend him to anyone who need this done.

From the moment that you step foot into this office you will be taken great care of! Dr Bolding has an amazing staff at this office! Dr Bolding has removed all of my wisdom teeth and now has place an implant for me. Both procedures went great and the healing process came with little to no pain! Jose, Kyllie, Dr Wright and all the other clinical staff put forth so much effort to make sure you are comfortable every single step of the way! Dr Bolding has such a great demeanor and is so caring for his patients; and that goes without mentioning how knowledgeable he is about his work! I will forever recommend this office to anyone I know that needs their services!

Dr bolding and his staff have been amazing. With my anxiety leading up to my surgery and even after surgery, Kylie has helped answered all my questions and been there to listen to me cry. When I thought all hope for my TMJ problems were lost and that I would just have to suffer with facial pain for the rest of my life, I found dr bolding. I can't rate him and his team any higher but if I could, I would. God Bless him and everyone there. Truly.

I was sent there per an ER doctor due to facial trama to the face. I had a broken maxilla and a lot of swelling. My left front tooth was not in the right place. They seem to want to talk about saving the tooth and how much it would cost. No one cared that I was in a lot of pain. I had to pay $250.00 just to heard their plan of action which wasn't taking place then. It would cost $4000.00. I ended up at the dentist to find out the tooth was jammed up in my nose and now I am finding out I have a broken nose and cheek bone. So much for Craniofacial help from them!

I want to make clear that this post is a rating of the office system and not the oral surgery procedure. I made an appointment to come in at 11:30 on Friday. Tried to call them the Thursday prior to verify the appointment card which said Friday at 11:30. My call was sent to voicemail where I requested a call back to verify the correct time. Shortly after that I received a text saying "sorry we missed your call.....can you send a text. I sent a text but never received a text back or a phone call. The next day I received a call at 9:45 saying that I was late for my appointment and the next appointment was in 5 days at their office 40 miles further away.

Dr. Johnson has extensive knowledge and skills when it comes to prosthodontics and overall dental care. His honest and straightforward assessment of my dental health was greatly appreciated. He took the time to discuss and explain my needs and even offered different options and timelines for needed repairs. The facility has all of the latest technology and innovations. The diagnosis, treatment, and completion of my dental work was just as expected. My mother and I were both referred to Dr. Johnson by another dentist. We have been so pleased. He is thorough and takes time to run through the options, and he will give you a few. The staff is professional and friendly. They all seem to be professionally melded as a team. The office vibe is positive and supportive. I am booked for some major dental restoration. I was very pleased with my procedure with Dr. Bolding. I needed an dental implant for the area where the tooth was removed. The dental robot was used in my procedure and it was great. I had surgery for sleep apnea. My jaws had to be repositioned to allow me to have a larger airway. My recovery was fast and uneventful with excellent results. Without the surgery my life would have been shortened significantly. Dr. Bolding and his staff were really very professional, nice and very caring throughput my treatment.
