I hate that I'm having to leave a bad review but, I feel as though it will help the community. I am still a bit put off and disheartened by the simple fact of every time I visit, Dr. Emily Cortes it is always a tug of war of words from her. As a mom, it's my job to advocate for my children. I feel that Dr. Emily job is to provide advice and to facilitate a plan to better their dental health. Any advice she gives can NOT be executed without parent input, questions, concerns or permission. Dr. Emily shared that, "She does not feel comfortable putting a filling on my child's chipped tooth?" *Why is it that Dr. Emily does not feel comfortable performing this as a "pediatric" dentist? *Is she not equipped to do such fillings for children? After I explained my confusion, and asked her why was she not willing to do this. Dr. Emily's bed side manners went out the door! She left the room without saying bye, and she was very short. It got to the point where the tension was very thick, and I had to ask Dr. Emily, "Why does it feel as though the atmosphere has changed?" This is not the first visit where there were a battle of words but, it will definitely be the last.

2 of my kiddo's had to get some dental work done here and the staff and dentists were all really great. They did a great job with my kids, make them feel comfortable and were very helpful in explaining what they were doing and with estimates on costs.

They have friendly and helpful service, as soon as you walk in! Their dental hygienist and the rest of the staff (especially Vanessa & Tonya) were very kind! They dental hygienist performance was very patient, and took her time cleaning my child's teeth (she was not rushing to get to another patient.) Each time I've visited this office, there's never been a waiting period, the staff is very considerate of time. Doctor Emily Cortes was very informative, patient, and kind. She even caught a dental problem my child's last dentist ignored. She explained everything that would be done and made sure I/my daughter was comfortable and aware of possible pain before her upcoming procedure. During my child procedure, Dr. Emily Cortes was so quick, patient, and gentle during my child. Very happy about this! The only thing I would recommend is more artwork, seating, and etc to be tailored towards kids. Over all great experience, and will recommend Prairie Pediatric Dentistry!

This office is absolutely amazing from cleaning my kiddos teeth to filling cavities. They make my children feel at home and very safe. They absolutely know what they are doing when it comes to calming and reassuring kids. I wouldn't bring my kids anywhere else.

We have been seeing Dr. Emily for 5+ years. One of my kiddos had severe oral aversion and would not let anyone in her mouth. Dr. Emily was kind and patient, always taking baby steps. Now years later my daughter not only gets regular cleanings but today even had multiple teeth pulled! The staff are always friendly and helpful. We have never had a bad experience!

My family has LOVED Prairie Pediatric Dentistry. From the moment you walk in each staff is wonderful, knows you, interacts with your children kindly and respectfully, and makes going to the dentist fun. The hygienists are absolutely fabulous. My kids would have let them clean their teeth all day long. Dr Emily is patient, explains things clearly, and has a wonderful bedside manner. I cannot say enough good things.

We took our 18 month old daughter here for her first check up. She had chipped part of one front tooth over a year prior (we discussed with our pediatrician who said chipped teeth were normal. I'm here to tell you the obvious - a pediatrician is not a dentist). We should have taken her to a dentist. When we went a year later she had decay on her top teeth. The visit did not go well. I was informed she had decay and would need sedation for the teeth to be filled. When I expressed concern about my daughter being put under, Dr Emily excitedly grabbed my arm to explain she didn't have to be put under, she could just remove the teeth in office. I could not understand how that was better. Having teeth removed while awake at her age? They recommended we return in 2 months, after we had followed detailed instructions on brushing 2x a day and flossing to see where things stood then. I went to get a second opinion and the visit was soo soo soo much better. No tears. They even got X-rays. But they informed me they would have to sedate in office and fill in three them and remove the chipped tooth. They did not offer the sedation in a hospital setting. We returned to Dr Emily for the follow up, and I had sent her the X-rays and plans from the other dentist. She informed us she could save all the teeth, unlike the second opinion who had said she'd have to remove one. And they offered sedation at a hospital setting. They charged us the full amount for all the work before allowing the date to be secured. The day of the operation we were at the hospital timely and waited for hours. Past the point she was supposed to go back (which was hard as our daughter hasn't had any food for soo long). Finally, Dr Emily shows up and is frantically rushing, saying she had no idea she had two families to operate on that day. She informs us she may have to remove the tooth we discussed (the damaged one) but she'll try everything to save it. And if they find any other issues they will take care of them now so we aren't in this same mess again in a year. She was speaking soo fast and was in a rush. The operation was supposed to take hours. It took between 20 to 30 minutes. And you guessed it. She removed ALL the teeth, and when I expressed shock she again grabbed my arm to tell me it wasn't a big deal because kids are resilient. I can not tell you how heartbroken we were and how mislead we felt. We immediately found another dentist. I was soo upset (this happened Dec 2021) and wanted to leave a review but didn't want to do so right away when I was still upset and maybe not able to see this was the best thing. It's been months. We've had other dentists review things and I can tell you it is my opinion she did intend to do the work we paid for (much more expensive than pulling teeth). But was in a hurry the day of the operation and just did what was most convenient for her schedule. This is my opinion, I don't know this for a fact.
