I consider myself to be the catalyst in the transformation of an individuals smile. It is an experience that will take a little bit of time and some tender loving care to sculpt, but the end result will last a lifetime.

My ties to Terre Haute run deep. My wife and three daughters are new to the Terre Haute area but my mother and father were born and raised in Terre Haute and Bowling Green, respectfully. I have a lot of fond childhood memories from here, and am thrilled that my children get to experience those memories themselves. My wife and I are excited to begin a new chapter in our lives and grow within the Terre Haute community.

I started working in this orthodontic practice in 1947. When Dr. Powell purchased the practice in January of 2015, I sort of 'came with the office'. It is exciting for me to be able to help the chidlren and in some cases the grandchildren of our earlier patients.

Orthodontic appliances are made of metal, ceramic, or plastic. They may be removable or they may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to the proper position.
Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can now choose clear or metal brackets and, in some cases, the color of your appliance. Wires are far less noticeable, and the latest materials are designed to move teeth faster with more comfort. Today, any age is a great age to wear braces!
Treatment time varies and can last between one and three years, depending on several factors including age, treatment method, and how minor or severe your case is. A big factor in a successful treatment is you! The more involved and diligent you are, the more efficient your treatment will be. For children, receiving interceptive or early treatment can also help provide a quicker treatment time.

My daughter has seen Dr.Powell for over four years. Him along with his staff were always great to explain what they were doing to make her more at ease. My son is getting ready to start his orthodontic journey this spring. I have refereed several friends and family and will continue to do so.

Highly recommend this place for adults and children. We had two opinions on what my son needed. The first added a bunch of extras which resulted in extra cost. Powell orthodontics only charged and did what was needed to fix the problem. They are there for the patient not the money.

I am so glad that I chose Powell Orthodontics for my daughter's ortho treatment. Dr. Powell and staff go above and beyond to make their patients and parents feel comfortable. They are very precise, and lay out your total balance and payment options within your first visit.

Everyone there is so friendly!!! I felt comfortable at every appointment and Dr Steve is amazing!! My results are better than i could have imagined (especially since I'm an adult)!! I will also be taking my kids there for all their orthodontic needs in the future!!

Powell Orthodontics is such a friendly place to visit. I have had 2 children with orthodontic needs. They helped create a payment plan that was affordable for our family. I would highly recommend this place to all my friends. The orthodontist is such a great guy! All the staff were friendly to my family. My children were always excited to go to this office.

Dr Powell and his office staff are amazing! Everyone is very nice and helpful with all your needs and questions. I was nervous about getting braces at my age and Dr Powell helped me feel better about the whole experience. They work with you to try and accommodate you and your schedule. We are lucky to have Powell Orthodontics located here in Terre Haute. Great local orthodontist with strong ties to the community. We investigated the other local flashy options and the choice was crystal clear. I could not recommend Powell Orthodontics enough!
