I am truly blessed to be an orthodontist. Daily I meet and spend time with people of all ages, from many walks of life, and have the opportunity to get hear their stories. It is a pleasure to build connections and friendships through my work and to know that what I do makes a lasting difference in so many lives.

After practicing for more than 30 years, I still love what I do and share in each patients excitement and anticipation as we near the end of treatment. The day were done, and that finished smile is revealed, I celebrate with my patient. Together weve accomplished a smile that strengthens their self-esteem and the confidence with which they greet the world.

I then attended the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, where I graduated first in my class with my Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD). Following dental school, I completed a General Practice Residency at the Naval Hospital in Camp Pendleton, CA and then served four years with the United States Navy Dental Corps.

I choose to participate in a range of continuing education opportunities, as I want to be an orthodontist who provides the best care possible. Each year I take online courses, attend meetings, read multiple specialty journals, and consult with other orthodontists and oral healthcare specialists.

Continuing education keeps me abreast of current research and techniques. In turn, this improves my treatment approach, diagnostic abilities, and treatment planning, which allows me to provide the best care and orthodontic experience for each patient.

I was born into a military family. My first school years were spent in Germany, then third grade through high school were spent here in Columbia County. After my own military service, I returned home and have lived here since.

My wife Debbie and I have been married over 35 years. We have four wonderful adult children. Although Debbie and I are technically empty-nesters, we love animals and currently have five rescues: two dogs and three cats. Each has their own personality and needs and brings happiness to our household.

When not at the office I am usually at Debbies side as her handyman. She has a residential rental business that keeps herand mequite busy. I am a dentist at heart, which means I love gadgets and mechanical things, so Im always working on, playing on, and fixing things!

I enjoy working with a great group of people, all of us focused on keeping our patients smiling during treatment! I work at our front desk, where I welcome and check in our patients, schedule future visits, and answer the phones. Its amazing to watch patients change, from visit to visit, as they see their new smile appear!

I like working on our patients, helping each on their way to a great smile. Its fun to get to know people during treatment and see how their new smile changes everything about their lives! This is an incredible practice, where everyone works hard to achieve great smiles. I assist Dr. Powell with different orthodontic procedures and maintain our clinical inventory.

I like helping our patients and parents understand and get the most from their insurance benefits. Im the main contact for patient insurance questions and I track and file all insurance-related information. I also assist at the front desk when needed. We have a wonderful team here that feels like a second family; my coworkers and our patients and their families!

I enjoy meeting the families of our patients and working with our staff to make differences in their lives. I oversee all financial matters and handle advertising and public relations for the practice. I also take care of administrative duties, supervise the front desk operations and staff, handle software issues, and am the point of contact for school-business partnerships. Its rewarding to work for a doctor who is second-to-none and with a team that goes above and beyond to help our patients!

I am married and have five grown daughters, four kids-in-law, and two dogs. I love being outdoors, whether Im working in the yard and gardening or going kayaking, walking, bike riding, or running, and most of all playing with my grandson. I also love my church, Mosaic UMC, and doing mission work in our community.
