We offer a full spectrum of orthodontic care for children, teenagers, and adults. The most sophisticated equipment and materials are utilized, such as heat sensitive memory wires, clear ceramic braces, or traditional silver braces. Dr. Powell and Dr. Bre are also Certified Invisalign Providers.
You will notice a very distinct and unique quality about our office from the moment you step through our door. You will find each of our staff members to be very friendly and accommodating. Our office provides a separate play area for children, Gameboys for adolescents, and coffee, water, and cookies to help make each visit a special one.
You will be treated with personalized care by Dr. Powell, Dr. Bre, and their staff at each visit. Our Jenison office combines clinical expertise, technological innovation, and outstanding patient communication to create the ultimate orthodontic practice. Dr. Mark Powell enjoys working with children, teenagers, and adults. His goal is to provide the highest level of personalized service. Since starting his private practice in 1987, Dr. Powell has enjoyed treating more than 25,000 orthodontic patients. Through continuing education, he also strives to learn about new, innovative orthodontic developments to ensure his patients are always receiving the most advanced orthodontic care available.
Dr. Powell has always had a passion for healthcare and science. He attended Alma College, and received a Bachelor of Science in biology. He completed professional training at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1985 with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Then he was accepted to Indiana University, where he earned his Master of Science in orthodontics in 1987, and the faculty presented him with the Robert Farnsworth Award for the outstanding orthodontic graduate.
Dr. Breanna Powell is very excited to be working alongside her father in practice and to continue creating beautiful smiles for people of all ages in West Michigan. She is dedicated in providing the highest level of care utilizing the newest technologies. She strives to make every patient feel like part of her family.
She was born and raised in Hudsonville, MI, graduating from Hudsonville High school in 2007. She then attended Hope College where she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry in 2010. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2014. After graduation from dental school, she continued her education at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry where she earned her Master of Science in Orthodontics.
When she is not in the office, Dr. Bre enjoys spending time with her husband Aaron, who is a kindergarten teacher at New Groningen Elementary in Zeeland. They just had a baby girl, Leyton, in May of 2018.
Each of our staff members are part of a team of highly qualified healthcare professionals and brings with them many years of experience in the orthodontic field. You will find each of them to be warm, caring, and knowledgeable. They are determined to go the extra mile to exceed all of your expectations.
Our staff members participate in continuing education courses and attend seminars and conferences each year to stay up to date with all of the breakthroughs in orthodontics. Our staff strives to maintain excellent communication between patients, parents, and referring dentists. They are always prepared to answer your questions and provide you with any information necessary throughout your treatment.
The administrative assistants serve various roles in our office. They will make you feel very comfortable from your initial phone call to your very last visit and always greet you with a smile and caring attitude. They pride themselves on their reputation for providing a friendly atmosphere for you and your family.
The clinical assistants are dedicated to creating great smiles while providing, with Dr. Powell, the highest level of professional care. They have a reputation for giving each patient individualized attention at each visit. They pride themselves in their knowledge of orthodontics and their caring communication skills and they enjoy helping you achieve your goal of a healthy, beautiful smile!

I am a professional person who was concerned with two things; time away from work and impression during process. The team at Powell Ortho, was amazing. I always showed up 5-10 early for my appointments and the team had me in and out all within a period I could protect for on my schedule. End results, a smile of confidence. Both professionally and personally, confidence in business while glowing in family photos. Bottom line, if you are an adult and scared, don't be. Get it done by PO. Best decision I've made for myself personally and professionally.

Went to Dr. Powell's office for the first time since 2011 to have my retainers checked out/potentially replaced. Dr. Powell looked them over and said there's no need to get new ones, and they gave me a new case, no charge. Had a great experience as a kid and now as an adult too.

For the most part they are very nice people. The only thing is is braces are extremely expensive so no matter where you go you're going to pay an arm and a leg and probably another arm and a leg. I could say you get what you pay for in some cases I'm sure that is true. But so far we are content except for the cost

Always a great experience! Appointments are easy in, easy out. Plans clearly discussed and have not once felt pressured to commit to anything! My daughter actualky looks forward to coming(maybe bc she gets to miss some school while shes at appt). Friendly staff. Waiting area is big. Complementary wifi. Nice little coffee/kitchenette/lounge area. Kids area for the little ones to stay occupied. I deff recommend.

At age 53 I figured the only way I would get straight teeth would be with dentures when I was very old. Well I was wrong! Powell Orthodontics was highly recommended to me from my dentist. I went through with the free consultation and decided to give it a shot. Photos were taken and a clearly laid out plan was put in place. They used a "quad" appliance to widen the arch of my mouth after braces were applied. Rubber bands helped move my lower jaw to the right and back. After just over two years, I would have never dreamed my teeth would be so straight. Now with my braces off, flossing is a breeze and I will never be embarrassed to smile for pictures again! Here are some other highlights for me: - Free consultation - Early appointment times starting at 7:20 am - Explained procedures along the way - Gave me ample supplies - Doctors were only a phone call away if an emergency came up. In two years I only had one loose back molar band. I called, they gave me instructions, reassured me it would be ok, and got me in ASAP the next business day. - All x-rays and getting fit for my retainer was like them taking a photo with their top notch state of the art dental equipment (painless) - No white gritty powder impression. They use their state of the art equipment. - My retainers were made at their location using the 3D images (amazing) - Easy to use website with great information resources - Easy to make payments online - I viewed their work area as a well oiled machine! - Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable and kind.

Dr.Powell and Staff are very talented and very professional.Dr. Powell and Staff worked wonder's on my teeth. I went from an ugly smile to a Beautiful smile. They make you feel comfortable and welcome. I Highly recommend!!! The Best place ever! If I could give 10 stars I would! You guys see the pics this all the proof you need!

Called and asked if they participated with my insurance. They said yes. Pulled my kid out of school. Showed up to my appointment 15 minutes early as advised to find the door locked. They did not open until my appointment time. Then at the end I find out they do not participate with my insurance but will bill them as out of network. Great bait and switch technique. Horrible way to treat potential clients. I will never go back or recommend.

From the moment I began my braces journey to the very end, Dr.Powell and everyone in the office has been so professional and kind.
