Dr. Carpenter was born and raised in Oregon, where he also completed his undergraduate and dental education. After graduating Magna Cum Laude with Honors from the University of Oregon, Dr. Carpenter went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D) degree with Honors from the Oregon Health and Science University. While in dental school, he served as the Student Body President and earned awards from the American College of Dentists for Outstanding Student Leader and American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology for Great Interest and Accomplishment. Rather than entering immediately into practice, he chose to complete an additional year of post-doctoral training; enhancing his skills in all aspects of general dentistry, including surgical and cosmetic dentistry.

Dr. Carpenter continues to dedicate himself to advancing his skills by completing hours of continuing education coursework and advanced training every year, with an emphasis on implant and restorative dentistry. Dr. Carpenter is also a strong believer in giving back and has done volunteer dentistry abroad in the Philippines and numerous free dental care events in the local community, including San Diego Stand Down and Give Kids A Smile.

Outside of doing dentistry, Dr. Carpenter loves spending time with his wife, two children, and their dog. He loves hiking, photography, and exploring all the outdoor recreational opportunities California has to offer.

Rather than immediately entering into practice, he chose to participate in an additional year of post-doctoral training, focusing on advanced surgical procedures and cosmetic dentistry.

Even now that he has established his own dental practice, Dr. Kim participates in hours of continuing education coursework and advanced training each year, with an emphasis on laser dentistry and his long-time passion, cosmetic dentistry. He is constantly striving to integrate new techniques and technologies that he feels will benefit his patients into the practice.

In addition to practicing at Poway Center for Advanced Dentistry, Dr. Kim has served as a faculty member of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry, as well as a voluntary assistant clinical professor at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He has presented many lectures on advanced dentistry and cosmetic dental treatments, with his audiences comprising both dental students and practicing dentists. He has been extensively published, and he has presented his published research findings at dental conventions throughout the nation.

When he isnt providing outstanding dental care to patients or advancing his knowledge or the knowledge of others, Dr. Kim can probably be found enjoying the company of his wife and four children. He loves to relax by taking leisurely walks with his family and his golden retriever. Occasionally, hell hit the golf course or take advantage of his proximity to the beautiful Pacific Ocean by learning to surf. He also enjoys playing tennis, spending time with friends, and listening to music.

Mariah joined the Wellness Dental team in 2016. Her devotion for top quality work, care, and comfort is shown to our patients daily. She is a Chicago native and moved to San Diego after having completed her Certified Dental Assisting accreditation in 2015. Mariah has gained experience in all aspects of general dentistry and has received additional training in both oral surgery and orthodontics since the start of her dental career in 2013. In her spare time, Mariah enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and baking.

Lainey became interested in the dental field when she started working in an office in high school. In 2010 she received her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene while living in Sacramento, CA and went on to complete her Bachelors Degree in Dental Hygiene from the Oregon Institute of Technology. Lainey is very passionate about lifelong learning and is always eager to learn new techniques and technologies that improve patient care. She focuses on being as gentle and thorough as possible during each visit. She was born and raised in Northern California and moved to San Diego in 2018. Lainey enjoys spending her free time with her spouse at Disneyland, enjoying the beautiful San Diego weather at the beach, and playing with her two Mini Dachshunds, Mina and Twitch.

Vanessa was born in the Philippines and moved to San Diego, CA in 1984. Shes been a dental assistant since 2002 and she got her certification at UEI college in Chula Vista, CA. Vanessa strives to learn something new every day about the dental field and help patients to be more educated about their oral health. Vanessa loves to spend time with her son Jordan. She enjoys going bowling, to the beach, hiking and trying new restaurants with her friends.
