I got my two front veneers put in by lifetime dental before they merged with Poughkeepsie dental. Absolutely loved the dentist he had me come back 5 different times to get the shape and size PERFECT which I really appreciated as I was only trying to match my regular teeth after an unfortunate accident. This was September 2021. I paid over 3k out of pocket for them. Not even a full year later, while 6 months pregnant, I got an abscess above the one left front veneer on my gum. They did an X-ray and did in fact confirm that the tooth was dying underneath and I'd need a root canal. After paying 3 THOUSAND DOLLARS out of pocket, they billed me for an office visit to tell me the veneer their old dentist put on, should've waited and made sure the tooth was viable before doing so. 1.) How is that something I'd know as a regular patient. 2.) obviously I would have waited or done the root canal to begin with if I was told this information back then rather than spend thousands out of pocket for not even a year before having issues. I wasn't expecting them to cover the work which I understand was done by a previous dentist, but to then charge me for the office visit to confirm this unfortunate news? Good thing they changed their name to Poughkeepsie dental. Because lifetime dental clearly isn't the case. Under a year and I'm told I need to pay thousands more as they ALSO won't preform the root canal.

I very much like this office. The staff is courteous and friendly and they are willing to work with my health insurance and budget. I would give them 5 stars except that they have experienced considerable turn over with dentists and hygienists in the year that I have been going there. The lack of continuity is an issue for me, because I visit 4 times a year and each time there is a learning curve for both the clinician and me. My preference is for a dental office with one or two established dentists, not the big, corporate, merry go round style of practice. When first going to Poughkeepsie Dental, my impression was that it was the former, but now I'm unsure. Despite its local sounding name, it is part of a large dental group with a dedicated billing office, etc. it seems that this kind of practice is the new normal for a variety of health care services. At this point, I will wait and see how the relationship develops.

This practice seemed good when Dr Trimboli was there. I had no problems and I wrote a very positive review then. It seems to have gone downhill, and I'll look for a different one. Since the change in dentists, I had one ordinary cleaning (with Erica, who was always great) plus some bitewing x-rays and a brief check by Dr Bristow. She was the strangest dentist I have ever dealt with. She came into the room, didn't introduce herself, didn't greet me, and in fact said absolutely nothing to me. After looking in my mouth, she curtly told the hygienist a tooth number and left. The hygienist then told me that the dentist had found a cavity. (I was immediately very suspicious because, after my early twenties, hygienists have been the ones who have found all my cavities via x-rays and the dentists have either confirmed them or decided they were just minor surface defects with no action required. Also, I'll always remember one dentist who claimed to have found 12-14 cavities in the two unfortunate years when I saw him, while all the other dentists in the other 64 years of my life found none before him and a total of 4 after him.) Poughkeepsie Dental's list price for this exam was $401, compared with their list price of $229 seven months earlier when Dr Trimboli was still listed with the practice and Dr Pandya (since moved) saw me for the same cleaning, bite-wing x-rays, and quick exam. This time, Poughkeepsie Dental told me their list price to do the cavity and said they would submit it to the insurance company for a pre-treatment estimate. Then there were just short of two months of back and forth between the practice and the insurance company. A first claim was handled by the insurance company as in-network, which was lucky since I got to see that the allowed charge would have been $229, of which my share would have been $32.80. (I'll try to find an in-network dentist.) A second, correct claim was handled as out-of-network, but rejected as a duplicate of the first. A third claim resulted the insurance company's payment of $115.40 and my having to pay the rest of the $401. The insurance company said they had paid their share of the allowed charge for the first claim and Poughkeepsie Dental would have to repay the difference after the third and final claim. They also told me they never received any request for the pre-treatment estimate. On the same day as my call with them, I got a bill in the mail from Poughkeepsie Dental for the entire $401, the very first bill and marked as 30 days overdue. When I called to complain about the bogus amount and the bogus overdue status, Poughkeepsie Dental's billing/insurance manager did not accept responsibility for one single problem, blaming all on the insurance company and the practice's automated billing software. She said she had no record of the practice's submission of the third claim, but said the insurance company's first payment was on 15 August for the amount stated in that claim. I can't tell the truth in all that, but I have had the same dental insurance company for decades and never, even in my prior visits to Poughkeepsie Dental, seen confusion and churn like this. For a great dentist, it might be worth the trouble, but not for an iffy one.

Have been going to this office for 17 yrs. Loved Dr Andy so much and miss him terribly since he retired. Other doctors are young and although they may be good doctors they are "robotic". The higiene lady Erica is super sweet! Love her!

I went to Poughkeepsie Dental because my own dentist was unable to see me. I was treated with such care by both the lovely office manager and the dentist, Dr. Sterali. He is an excellent dentist. I highly recommend this practice.

Third time going there, Second time teeth were cleaned by Erika the Hygienist. She is great, very calm and soothing. I was seen by Dr. Kay, he was on time, explained things well and had a good overall positive demeanor/attitude. Have scheduled possible root canal with him and don't feel scared or nervous about it.
