Your oral health is our top priority, but before receiving any treatment, your comfort and peace of mind when visiting our office are vital. To make every visit as pleasant and expeditious as we can, we take time to consult with you and help you file paperwork, understand your dental health and treatment, and more. You can become acquainted with your dentist personally and ask questions you may have.
I am most interested in helping my patients achieve higher states of oral health and esthetics while keeping them comfortable in the process. I strive for excellence and precision in every procedure. Every day presents a unique combination of challenges and procedures; this is what excites me about my profession. I love the relationship aspects of patient care, as well. I consider all my patients to be friends and do my best to keep our visits warm and inviting. My profession is extremely important to me as it is one that I truly love. After 33 years, I have no regrets and would choose this profession again in a heartbeat. My life is enriched every day by interacting with and helping my patients achieve better health.
I attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, for my undergraduate studies and the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry for my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. I completed my Prosthodontics Residency at the University of Minnesota and taught at the School of Dentistry for a few years prior to moving back to Austin.
I regularly participate in continuing education to stay current in the dental profession and provide the best patient care possible. As a graduate of the Pankey Institute of Advanced Continuing Dental Education, I am confident that our patients receive the very best, most modern treatments available.
Our team is wonderful at creating a welcoming environment for our patients. Every member of our team takes ownership in our practice and strives for excellence in clinical care while keeping patient comfort and convenience at the forefront. One of the first things you probably will hear in our office is laughter. Our team truly enjoys working together and keeps the atmosphere upbeat!
I grew up right here in Austin, MN, and live just south of here with my wife, Brenda, our children, Kira, Karl, Karyn, and Kory, and our dog, Gunnar. I am passionate about my faith, family, and friends. Outside the office, I can be found at home with my family, on vacation, at an auto race, or at a hockey game.
Being active in the community is very important to me, as well, because I want to give back as much as possible to the community that has been so kind to us. I am a member of the Austin Noon Lions Club, Bethlehem Church, and YMCA board. In memory of our son, we founded the Karl Potach Foundation to raise funds to support childrens cancer research.
I am passionate about providing the best care possible for all my patients and positively influencing their life. The most exciting part of my work is being able to change someones life by helping them improve and maintain their dental health. Working with so many unique people gives me insight into different ways of thinking about the world. I feel I can make a difference by helping my patients have self-confidence and a healthy smile.
I attended St. Johns University for my undergraduate education, graduating in 1994 with my Bachelor of Arts degree. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Minnesota in 1999. Since then, I have attended numerous lectures and hands-on courses to keep current in the latest materials and techniques that dentistry has to offer. Continuing my education re-energizes my passion for dentistry.
We have a team that has been together for a long time and has the ability to interact with each other and our patients in a professional and caring manner. Our team gets to know our patients outside our office, which gives valuable insight in positively treating patient needs. They are treated as individuals while we provide high-quality, exceptional care.
I grew up in Billings, MT, and now live in Austin with my wife, Barb, and our children, Anastasia, Dane, and Sydney. My time away from the office is often spent with my family, but I can be found on the golf course, hunting, and watching University of MN football and hockey. I also love to cook! Being involved with others helps build relationships and a better community. Because of this, I am active in our church, St. Augustines, and in our childrens school.
I grew up on a small, family farm near Des Moines in a town called Van Meter, Iowa. I attended the University of Northern Iowa for my undergraduate degree, and I finished my D.D.S. at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2021. Family brings me to Austin; my in-laws live in town, and my wife, Hope, daughter, Rory, and I are excited to once again be close to family. When Im not at work, you can likely find me at a sporting event, enjoying time outside running or at the park with my family, or catching up on the latest movie or game. My experience was a typical one I have at this office. Yet typical is not a very good way to describe a visit to Dr. Mitchell's Office. It is always a very pleasant experience. I have yet to have an experience there that wasn't first class. I unfortunately have not always taken the best care of my teeth. This requires me to sometimes make frequent trips to the dentist. I consider myself fortunate to be able to get the best care at Dr. Mitchell's office. Everyone who works there is very caring and works to make sure you have a great visit. My whole family enjoys every experience we have had at this office. We wouldn't want to go to any other dental office.

Here we are in a pandemic and I have never felt safer at the dentist! Air purifiers, double masks, face shields, gowns, gloves, special air filtering machine to name a few. Dr. Potach and Dr. Mitchell have provided a safe environment for their patients to make it possible to continue with our dental health. Thank you for going above and beyond! Excellent care, as usual! Received some great ideas from Evan on how to get more fluoride on a daily basis and how to help my dry mouth problems. New appointments were set up quickly and easily. Very helpful and friendly staff. I can't believe how afraid I used to be to go to the dentist -- now it's (almost!) a pleasure.

Whether for routine cleaning or for needed care, a visit to the Potach/Mitchell Dental Clinic is welcoming, pleasant, and safe. They practice professional covid safety via equipment upgrades and employee procedures. Smiles cannot be hidden by masks as they come through the eyes. Care makes one feel like a true patient and not just a paying customer. I always leave grateful for their care!

Dr. Mitchell is top notch!!! He is highly skilled at what he does and is a very kind and caring dentist. His work is thorough and he continually makes sure you are comfortable and informed during the process. The team he works with are super awesome as well:). They are all so friendly and help make going to the dentist a much more relaxing experience. I highly recommend Dr. Mitchell and his team and the wonderful care they provide to their patients!!!
