Philip Gross is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1969 and from Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry in 1973. After Graduation Phil served a one year rotating internship at Rush Presbyterain St. Lukes Medical Center in Chicago in which he received advanced training in medicine, anesthesiology, surgery, and several dental specialties. After completion of his internship, he continued his hospital affiliations and was appointed Director of the Dental Service at Ravenswood Hospital Medical Center and an instructor at the University of Illinois Medical School and Benjamin Rush Medical School. Phil practiced general dentistry in Chicago until 1978 when he moved to Portland and took over the practice of Henry Tuchler, a prominent Portland dentist. He is also active in organized dentistry having been elected to the Oregon Dental Association board of Trustees and a director of Dentists Benefits Corporation and Dentists Management Corporation.

Portland born and raised, Dr. Geelan graduated with honors from Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) Dental school. Dr. Geelan is a lifetime member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. He served for three years in the National Health Service Corps doing public health dentistry prior to starting his practice. Dr. Geelan is proud to give back to the community he grew up in. Outside the practice, Dr. Geelan participates in many volunteer dental opportunities, including Compassion Connect, Baby Day and Celebration of Smiles. Dr. Geelan and his wife Mary, a local social worker, share their passion for taking care of people. During his spare time, Dr. Geelan enjoys kiteboarding, gardening, walking his dog at the beach, and watching PAC-12 football.
