A West Virginia University School of Dentistry graduate, Dr. Shumate attends extensive postdoctoral studies in clinical dentistry, focusing on cosmetic, implant, and family dentistry. He has presented research across the country, receiving recognition from the Hinman Dental Society and The American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Dr. Shumate is continually taking the advanced education curriculum at the prestigious Kois Institute in Seattle. Dr. Shumate enjoys blending the art and science of dentistry to improve his patients smiles in his state-of-the-art Wilmington, NC, office.

Jennifer grew up in Texas and West Virginia, where she attended high school and met Dr. Shumate. She graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelors degree in Child Development and Family Studies. She went on to get her Masters degree in Elementary Education. Jennifer is the office administrator and works hard to ensure your experience is memorable. Jennifer enjoys kayaking, paddle boarding, going to the beach, spending time with her family, and reading when she gets thechance.

Charlotte is a native of Wilmington, NC. She graduated from Cape Fear Community College with a degree in Dental Assisting. Charlotte will do her very best to make your visit comfortable. She enjoys spending time with her two beautiful children and her family in her free time. Charlottes hobbies include boating, fishing, and traveling.

Abby is a native of Scotts Hill, NC. She is a graduate of Coastal Carolina Community College and has been a part of our team for six years. Abby strives to make sure each patient leaves with an exceptional experience to share with their friends and family. She is devoted to our patients and finds joy in advocating for them. Abby enjoys painting and crafting; however, you may find her at an auction or thrift store on a Saturday. She is a proud cat-mama to Flounder and Finn.

Christina was born and raised in Scotts Hill, NC. She is a graduate of Cape Fear Community College. Christina has been with us since 2016 and is here to welcome all of our guests with a friendly smile. In her spare time, she loves raising animals on her 10-acre farm. She also enjoys making jewelry, crafting, and deep-seafishing.

Tina grew up in southern Indiana and got her degree in dental assisting in Louisville, Kentucky. She then attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC, and gained her associate degree in dental hygiene. Tina loves caring for her guests, spending time with her family, and many outdoor activities like golf.

Temple grew up in the Outer Banks area. She graduated from Cape Fear Community College with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She enjoys going on the boat, being at the beach, or doing anything outdoors in her spare time. She is a proud dog-mama to her black lab, Tally. Temple loves her job as a hygienist and cant wait to help you with your smile!

Jessica grew up in West Virginia. She attended Virginia Western Community College, where she graduated with a degree in Dental Assisting. She strives to make sure all guests have a positive and comfortable experience while visiting our office. She loves to travel and spend time with her family in her spare time. She loves her fur babies, music, and hanging out on the beach.
