Helping our children is the important part of what Porter Dental does for families. Were making sure that all children have access to dental care services. Porter Dental is committed to reducing the need for future extensive dental work & keeping kids healthy through preventative dental care & a range of community & educational programs.

The number of children not visiting the dentist or going to hospital ERs in Baltimore, MD tells us too many kids lack the primary dental care they need to prevent serious dental issues. Because these health issues can impact childrens ability to perform their best in school & live a successful life. Were finding ways to help kids get the dental care they need by accepting Medicaid & Commercial Insurance, Resolution Dental Discount Plan for families without insurance, school-based dental care visits & more.

Through our Kool Smiles Kids Club, kids (no matter their age) have the opportunity to earn rewards, grow & reach their unlimited potential. With an emphasis on creativity & values, Kool Smiles Kids Club helps give kids a sense of self, making a powerful contribution to their oral care health. Parents & families tell us their kids club experience helped diminish fear & instill confidence in their children.

Staff tried to have me sign documents indicating they're billing for services they already provided and billed for. I was told "thats just how it prints out." I pushed back and demanded an accurate estimate, the difference was $140. Odd that they could produce an accurate bill when asked directly for one. Edited: office manager said, essentially, "Well, that shouldn't have printed like that but it is just an estimate. We can't *actually* bill twice anyway because the insurance company will consider it fraud." Yes, I know that's fraud. That's why I won't sign a document indicating you're providing the same service on two different dates when that didn't happen. That's why I wanted an accurate estimate to begin with. I shouldn't have to demand that, it should be provided automatically. Watch what you are signing, especially if you have good coverage. Edited again: I was presented with a "treatment was completed and no further treatment is needed" form in the exam room, before treatment was completed. I refused to sign this until my child's treatment is completed. I've been taking my kids to the dentist for over 10 years and I've never had this happen. This is bizarre.

Service was great. Not a long wait and everyone was patient and friendly. My son is not a fan of going to the dentist. The staff was very good with him.

I came in for my 6 month cleaning today and had Heather Karen and Emily. Heather was awesome and thorough explaining everything. Karen was so sweet kind and explained everything while doing x-rays. Emily did my exam and was quick and straight to the point. I want these girls to be part of my exams from now on. And that is a huge difference from my first ever appointment at this practice

Great experience! The technician that did my grandson X-ray was great she talked him through his gag reflex. The dental hygienist was Amazing the Best we have ever had . She told him everything before she did it and made him feel comfortable. The front desk receptionist was very Friendly and easy to talk to. Over all the Best dental experience my grandson has ever had .

After waiting almost a year to get an appointment for a cleaning I was called two days prior to my appointment and informed that there was no hygienist available for my appointment so they bumped me out an additional two months. The staff for the most part is friendly but there's one girl there that has the biggest attitude. Hence the one star. If you make an appointment here be prepared to wait for a very long time

this business must be failing give the reviews others left, I called them because my health smiles card from MD lists them, when I called today, told they only take children now. They have no dentists that take adults in MD.

Date of visit was 7/5/22 I took my son in and the hygienist (she) was saying some irrelevant things that shouldn't of been said. Don't ever assume things if you don't really know. Also my son had to hold the suction wand never have I ever witnessed that before in my life. Then some water got on him and she was like that's your fault well if you did your job correctly and suctioned him out cause that's your job we wouldn't of had to of heard that.

The most unprofessional place I've ever been! I had a 10 o'clock appointment and wasn't even spoken to for 2 hours.. nobody knew what they were doing! Even the dentist was asking me my opinion on an extraction!? He was so hesitant about pulling out a tooth and made me feel so uncomfortable I left. Horrible experience

I called to set up an appointment to get my wisdom teeth out, set it up no issues. Rearranged my work schedule to make it work. Now the day of my appointment it turns out that the surgeon isn't there today. I pushed back a trip and had to get my work schedule changed twice all to find out that they guy comes once a month and it's never on a Monday, so who let me set up this appointment?

I never leave reviews!!!! I went in on a Thursday. Was charged 139.00 for X-rays. Went back for X-rays. Waited for the dentist. Confirmed I needed the tooth extracted but My blood pressure was to high ( whos isn't high at the dentist especially if you have a fear.) so Friday I went to my primary where he said my bp was due to being anxious because I am terrified of a dentist from traumatizing childhood experiences. Got my clearance and scheduled my appointment for 1 o'clock Monday afternoon. Monday morning 8:00. I received a call can we reschedule to 11:00 that morning. Sure not a problem. I take the pill the doctor gives me, have my husband drive me to get this one tooth pulled. Arrive at the location at 10:45, feeling calm as a cucumber. About ten minutes later they call me back. From 11:00 until 12:45 I sat in a room. No one came in. No one asked was I okay. I'm alone and now bringing to get anxious. 1:00 the dentist comes in. Let's someone who works there know I'm the last patient. ( wish I had thought about this statement when I get to the better part) he proceeds to put the numb solution and begins giving me needles. It hurts but bearable. After the needles he starts to drill and I immediately shriek because I can feel what he's doing. He seems frustrated but it hurts and I can't bare it. So he then continues to drill until he I guess sees the nerve and puts the needle right in my nerve. I have two kids natural child birth, and I've never felt pain like that. But finally it's numb and he can start to pull the tooth. What do you do at that point. You can't get up. No one would see you in my area that quickly to finish the job. It's now 2:30. I dealt with pulling and cracking for 1 1/2 hours. When I went to the front the women up there are always pleasant. She gave me my paper work and I headed to the pharmacy because after three stitches and a hour and a half of being yanked on when the numbing went away I was going to be in some pain. I arrive to the pharmacy ask if my prescription was ready. Ma' am you don't have any prescriptions. So I look through my paper work and there a regular piece of paper with what looks like a prescription. I hand it to the women and drive off. 5 minutes later the pharmacist calls and let's me know that this is not a proper prescription and she can't fill it. That she has tried to call but no one was answering. So I try and call but soon remember they were closing after me. Today it has been over 24 hours and I have yet to hear anything. I've called to try and talk to someone about this, there is no one. I know I can't be the only one who has went through this. This made my fear of the dentist so much worse. A fear they were well aware of. This office shouldn't be practicing. Please please please if you never listen to another review please know I haven't exaggerated this was a horrible experience and I'm a grown women. I can't imagine what they would do to a child. .

I have scheduled my kids twice for an appointment here. The first time they canceled because they didn't have a dentist available. Today I arrive at 10:30. 30 minutes early for my appointment. It's now 12:40 and my kids didn't get their teeth clean due to availability. They asked if I would stay later. I've been here for hours. We are going home and won't be back.

I chose this place as a one stop shop for dental services for my son and I. From the very beginning this place was very unorganized. Today my appointment was cancelled for the 4th time due to "unforseen circumstances". I am in pain due to a procedure they performed poorly and have been for 3 weeks now. The front desk staff and dental hygienists are friendly but the one dentist that ever seems to be there treats you like a number... Or like you're just a piece of the chair. The last time I was there for 1hr and 15 minutes just sitting in the dental chair. No one checked on me, no one said sorry for the wait. Nothing. I understand these are hard times but it is never ending with this place. I am having them fix the issue they caused and am moving on to a different provider. I suggest you go with someone else.

I wish I didn't have to give this place 1 star because I had such a horrible experience. The summary of this review is DO NOT GO HERE!!! Despite having an appointment, I waited 2 hours before being pulled back to get x-rays and see the doctor. It took me a total of 3 hours for just a cleaning (no dental work). Honestly, I wish I had gotten up while waiting because it definitely got worst as the appointment proceeded. Once I was being helped, I found my experience was so in-personal. Their main goal is to process as many patients as possible. When I voiced concerns about my teeth and jaw during the appointment, they ignored them. It was also the worst cleaning I have ever had, my teeth did not feel clean afterwards and they didn't even check my TMJ despite talking to them about it. It is as if the folks that work here are those who graduated at the bottom of their class and it was the only place they could get hired. They also require your weight, which never in my life have I had to give a weight to a dentist for just a cleaning! As someone recovering from anorexia, it is dangerous for me to step on a scale and provide a weight because of the potential for relapse. So I refused the weight saying they didn't need it because they are a dentist and to protect my recovery. I do this all the time at my PCP and it is never a problem. The next thing I know I have the dentist, dental assistant, office assistant and office manager standing around me demanding my weight because they could not conclude my appointment without it. I felt so pressured, I finally gave them something. It was so unprofessional and I left the dentist office crying and traumatized. They are not mental health or trauma informed. If you are looking for a nice understanding dentist, DO NOT GO HERE!!!!
