Dr. Jody Wrathall, aka Dr. Jody, received her dental degree (D.D.S.) in 2010 and masters degree (M.S.) in pediatric dentistry in 2012, both from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). Dr. Jody achieved her Board Certification from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry in 2013 and officially became a Diplomate. A Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry is a pediatric dentist whose credentials have been verified, who has successfully completed voluntary examinations, and who demonstrates specialized knowledge and skill. A Diplomate is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care through a voluntary commitment to lifelong learning.
In January 2015 she joined Dr. John Deppens long-established Portage practice. Dr. Jody became the owner in January 2016 and changed the name to Portage Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Deppen retired in May 2017 and the practice moved to its brand new, state-of-the-art dental office in October 2017.
Dr. Jody grew up in Portage, graduating from Portage Central High School in 2003 and Western Michigan University in 2006. Her husband Doug teaches Spanish at Mattawan Middle School. They have three young children: Dougie, Clark, and Penny. In her free time, Dr. Jody enjoys Michigan Football, going to Target, and most of all, being a mommy.
Kelly is the office manager, hospital and IV sedation coordinator, and also helps at the front desk. She has been with the practice for over 40 years. She and her husband have three adult sons, three grandsons, and one granddaughter. She enjoys reading, spending time with family, and Jazzercise.
Carolyn is a front desk receptionist. She has been with the practice since 2018 and has over ten years experience working in a dental office. She has two adult children and one granddaughter. She is a cyclist, is working on being more of a minimalist, and loves to spend time with her family, especially helping out her mother and granddaughter.
Kathy is a front desk receptionist. She has been with the practice since 2019 and has previous experience working as a systems analyst for insurance companies and working for non-profit organizations. She has three adult children and four grandchildren. She loves spending time with her family, cooking, baking, and assisting with her family business.
Heather is a front desk receptionist. She has been with the practice since 2019 and has worked in the dental field for over 5 years. She has two school-aged children. She enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, scrapbooking, and tea.
Jill is a front desk receptionist. She has been with the practice since 2020 and in dentistry for over 30 years. She has two adult children, two grandchildren with two more on the way (twins!). She enjoys doing yardwork and spending time with her grandchildren.
Sue is a registered dental hygienist. She has been with the practice for almost 30 years and in dentistry for over 35 years. She has two adult children, one dog, one cat, and eight chickens. She enjoys gardening, reading, playing Euchre, and spending time with family and friends.
Kathy is a registered dental hygienist. She has been with the practice for over 25 years and in dentistry for over 33 years. She has three adult daughters. She enjoys spending time with her daughters and grand-nieces, walking, gardening, and volunteering at her church.
Haley is a dental hygienist who has been with our office since 2019 and a hygienist since 2015. Her husband Jared is a local dentist. She enjoys golfing with her adult couple's league, traveling, camping, playing beach and indoor volleyball, volunteering with her mom's animal rescue group, and watching Michigan football and basketball.
Terri is a dental assistant. She has been with the practice since 2015 and in dentistry for over 26 years. She has one adult daughter, four grandsons, and one dog. She enjoys genealogy, reading, local history, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Sara is a dental assistant who also has experience as a front desk receptionist. She has been with the practice since 2014 and in dentistry for over 36 years. Her husband Gary Krebill is a local general dentist and they have two adult sons and three dogs. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, taking care of her fur babies, and also has her own side business (Beading Creations by Sara LLC).
Donna is a dental assistant who also has experience as a front desk receptionist. She has been with the practice since 2018 and in dentistry for over 28 years. She is married with two sons. She enjoys spending time with her family, going to the gym, crocheting, doing puzzles, baking, and fishing.
Allison is a dental assistant who has been with the practice since 2020. She also works part time at a childcare center. She had two step-children and enjoys spending time with family and friends, and spending time with her puppy.

We love Portage Pediatric Dentistry! They have a very patient, compassionate and friendly staff. We love how fun, colorful and the clean the office is. Love that they have newer technology that makes it easier and more comfortable for my kids !

I highly recommend taking your children here. The dentists and hygienists are very patient with the children, they are very knowledgeable and kind. The actual office has children oriented decorating, amazing play/waiting rooms, fish tank, t.v.s playing cartoons in every room including the ceiling which are in eye view when the children are getting their exams. Very clean and amazing! I will never take my kid to a different dentist again!

My now 5 yr old had fillings done here. Within just a few months the fillings fell out. Went back, had them fill it again. That fell out too. Then the tooth was so thin by this point his tooth has broken. It has only been maybe 2 yrs if that and 3 fillings have fallen out and now he has pain. Definitely not going here again. Obviously if you dont have good insurance you get sub par treatment

I love this place! They are SO good at what they do! I followed them when they moved from westnedge to old centre! I will continue to have my kids see Dr Jodi until they're of age!

My daughters love coming here!!! The hygienists that clean their teeth are so sweet and kind and really connect with the kiddos! We drive 45 min to come to this dentist office

Every single person from the front desk staff (Carolyn) to Dr Jody was a 100% positive experience. Especially during this difficult time dealing with the pandemic. It took on an additional level of appreciation knowing that we were in good hands. I appreciate ALL front line workers...those that specialize in caring for Children are priceless!

*Update 2/1/22* Still love this dentist office. Wouldn't want to take my kids anywhere else. I tell them all the time I have never seen such a cool dentist office for kids!! Wish I had one like this when I was growing up. Movies on the ceiling while they are in the chairs, sunglasses. My kiddos have been given blankets to use at times too. The play rooms are closed right now during the pandemic, when they are open they are awesome though. Cool toys the kids all love, even a train set that goes around up by the ceiling. Really neat fish tank, too. Dr. Jody and the other Dr. here are wonderful, all their staff is, too. They are very kind and patient with the kids, and I really appreciate the way the treat the kids while they are there. We are thankful to be patients here. Dr. Jody and staff are wonderful. They are great with kids. Highly recommend this office.

Dr. Jody is just fantastic with her patients! I love how kindly she and her staff interact with my kids. Everyone at the office is very knowledgable and helpful, and the office itself is a very fun setting. My kids love going to the dentist!

Im a super duper over protecting mom and believe me when I tell you this is your place to go. Its was my first time with my 3 yo and it was the Best care and patience. Just love them.
