Dr. Valerie Coble Pollock is originally from Angier, NC where she graduated from Harnett Central High School in 1994. She then attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology in 1998. In 2002, she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Dental School, with honors. She purchased her practice in Burgaw in 2004.
Dr. Pollock is married to Burgaw native Rhett Pollock who practices law there with his father Harold Pollock. She is affiliated with the Academy of General Dentistry, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Pollock resides in Pender County with her husband Rhett, her son Coble, dog Sam, and cat Sampson.Dr. Pollock and her family are proud to call Pender County their home.
Dr. Pollock understands the importance of continuing education because of ever-changing technology in dentistry. She is committed to improving technical skills to promote professional and personal excellence. She strives to promote long term patient relationships through quality oral care and patient education.
Dr. Pollock grew up in a family of water skiers. Her Mom, Dad, Sister, and Brother-in-law own Coble Water Ski School in Lillington, NC, about 1 hour and 15 minutes away from Burgaw. It is the largest water ski school in the world and host families, kids, and individuals each week for camp. Dr. Pollock grew up competing on the national level in waterskiing and it still remains a passion of hers today. Her sister April is still ranked as one of the top female skiers in the world and holds 28 National Championship titles, Overall US Masters title, and 2010 Malibu Open Title. Dr. Pollock's mom, Shirley Coble, won the NC State Championship title, Southern Regional Championship Title, and was a Silver medalist at the US National Water ski Championship. She also placed fourth in the 2016 and 2018 World Waterski Championshipsat the age of 73!
Dr. Pollock also holds many State, Regional, and National waterskiing championship titles. Dr. Pollock 's dad, Gary Coble, was the steadfast water ski coach for all the family over the years. He also holds several State Championship titles. One year all four members of the family won the State Championships together in each of their divisions. Dr. Pollock is very proud of her family. If someone at the office has to be out on short notice you will sometimes find Dr. Pollock 's mom up front greeting patients and answering the phone. As our motto states, 'at our office you are not just another smile in the crowd; you 're part of our family.'
Dr. Gustavo Gasca, also known as Goose by his Pender Patriot friends, is a Pender County native. After graduating from Pender High in 2006, he attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he received a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He went on to achieve his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from East Carolina University. During his studies, he completed three dental rotations at several ECU satellite clinics located throughout North Carolina - Lillington, Spruce Pines, and Lumberton. Upon graduating from dental school, he returned to his hometown, Burgaw, to serve his wonderful community!
Dr. Gasca believes in giving back and reaching out to all those in underserved populations. In the past, he has volunteered his time in many non-profit organizations, such as Mission of Mercy, Give Kids a Smile, and St. Marys Dental Clinic.
He understands the importance of staying up-to-date with new dental techniques, materials, and technologies so that he can better assist his patients. He strives to serve his patients with comprehensive and personalized treatment plans while raising the bar for the standard of care. Hes an active member of the North Carolina Dental Society, American Dental Association, Hispanic Dental Association, and the Tri-county Dental Society located in the Wilmington area. One of his long-term commitments is continuing education and the pursuit of excellence in dentistry.

If you have not already met him, he is well known for being energetic, charismatic, caring, and his corny jokes. If you ever encounter him and he shares a joke, just go with it, and laugh out loud!
Finally, when Dr. Gasca isnt working, he enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, and his four-legged buddy, Elvis. Elvis is a Golden Retriever that has special skills in posing and doing silly tricks. He also believes he is human!

I've seen this office for years, for dozens of appointments as I had many dental issues. My last appointment was June 8th & they canceled via voicemail because they had an emergency patient. They rescheduled for June 16th at 1pm. They then left another voicemail stating that was a "mix up" and they needed me there at 1:30. I called back to say I could not do 1:30 as my child has an appointment at 2pm. Now months later I find out they've dropped me as a patient for missing that appointment they rescheduled twice. I've got the voicemails still as proof, and spent 10 minutes on hold with no resolution. I do NOT recommend this office, they'll push your appointment repeatedly & then blame you for their mix ups. I have call logs proving I called their office 5 minutes after receiving their voicemail about their time mix up to tell them 1:30 would not work for me, but they don't care.

The people are nice,to me. They get done in a reasonable amount of time..The appointment ,is real. Not a place to sit all day waiting.

Nice people, but the fact she pulled my tooth with NO PAIN MEDICATION was the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! EVERY dentist I went to made sure I felt no pain or just simply put me to sleep and she didn't do that. She was rough and kept tugging I had tears in my eyes then after it was pulled I was prescribed some sh*tty pain medication that didn't even work I ended up going to the hospital. She is the reason why I fear going to the dentist all my other dentist never had this problem.

EVERY dentist I went to made sure I felt no pain or just simply put me to sleep and she didn't do that. She was rough and kept tugging I had tears in my eyes then after it was pulled I was prescribed some sh*tty pain medication that didn't even work I ended up going to the hospital. She is the reason why I fear going to the dentist all my other dentist never had this problem.

Dr. Gustavo is awesome. He is very thorough and takes his time. I had a successful tooth extraction with no pain. The staff is also very friendly and always upbeat and smiling.
