Dr. Pollard believes a good dentist is personable and is someone who can put people at ease. Most of a dentist's workday is spent caring for patients. Dentists educate patients on their diagnosis, treatment, and preventative care. Being able to explain technical information in an easy to understand manner is part of the job.
Dr. Pollard grew up in Des Moines and attended Dowling High School, now Dowling Catholic. He received his bachelors degree from Loras College in Dubuque. He went on to receive his D.D.S. from the University of Iowa in 1977. After graduation, Dr. Pollard moved to Boone where he practiced for 31 years. Dr. Pollard is an adjunct professor for the University Of Iowa College Of Dentistry. He has been doing this since 1979 and enjoys teaching senior dental students for five week rotations in our Ames, and Ankeny offices. In his spare time Dr Pollard likes to stay active by running, swimming and working out. He is a four time finisher of the Hawaii Ironman world triathalon competition. He also enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren.

After our Visit: It is Awesome dental clinic. Everything they doing in Quick and what we expect . Especially Dr. Pollard and staffs are very good person handling patient in good manner, explaining all issues more in detail. And He solved my dental problem with Quickly. If there is an option for enter 10 Star I will give 10 star.

I was a patient there for 10 years. I decided to take the office up on their offer for a lifetime supply of teeth whitening gel which was to be given every 6 months. I attended every appointment and if I couldn't I called to reschedule. In 2020 I was informed there was a new dentist and that the whitening gel changed and I will no longer receive my lifetime supply unless I pay again for this new gel. No notification, no refund offered, no anything. Fast forward to 2022 I had an appointment scheduled. My kid had gotten sick and we decided it was best for her to stay home from school to be safe (still in the middle of the pandemic). I called the dentist office that opened at 8am as I was scheduled at 8am to cancel due to that reason. I was dismissed as a patient because I didn't call at 8am the day before as my daughter was feeling well and I didn't know she would have to stay home the next morning. I needed a filling in my tooth that he continuously missed and told me nothing was wrong, I had a root canal that still bother me. It's hard because of the type of insurance I have I was basically left with no choice but to continue with this clinic. I can't believe they dismissed me as a patient because my child was sick and I wasn't able to give a 24hr notice after being a patient for 10 years. Just be aware people!!!

Today was the first day I brought my kids to this dentist and he was very professional very thorough explaining all the details about my children's needs of work on their teeth and they're very professional and very prompt about making schedules either in that office or referring us somewhere else

What a great experience I had! And FAST! My first time there, and I felt welcomed and cozy in the office! Sharp staff! I love to ask questions and they were ready to answer whenever I did have a question or concern. I felt cared for, which is important to me! I'll definitely keep going back!
