At Pollard Family Dentistry, the health and happiness of our community is important and we know the importance of volunteering and outreach. Below are some of the ways our doctors have been helping our community.
The Iowa Mission of Mercy is a large scale, two-day community dental clinic where dental professionals and general volunteers donate their time to provide free oral health care to individuals who face barriers to receiving dental care.
During February, Childrens Dental Health Month, we hold Give Kids a Smile Day. On this day, our staff donates all of their time and supplies to treating uninsured or under-insured children in need of dental care.
Dr. Pollard grew up in Des Moines and attended Dowling High School, now Dowling Catholic. He received his bachelors degree from Loras College in Dubuque. He went on to receive his D.D.S. from the University of Iowa in 1977. After graduation, Dr. Pollard moved to Boone where he practiced for 31 years. Dr. Pollard is an adjunct professor for the University Of Iowa College Of Dentistry. He has been doing this since 1979 and enjoys teaching senior dental students for five week rotations in our Ames, and Ankeny offices. In his spare time Dr Pollard likes to stay active by running, swimming and working out. He is a four time finisher of the Hawaii Ironman world triathalon competition. He also enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren.

I just went in for my first dental visit at this office and I was truly impressed. Dr. Pollard is going on 43 years of experience has 3 branches around the DM area. This particular office is only open Monday's and Fridays I believe? (I'm not the final authority on that info!) He was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He seemed to love his job. Everyone was very gentle on my teeth. Their office was clean, organized, and the staff seems to work well together. Thanks for the great visit!

Best Dentist experience in both my wife's and my opinion that we've ever had. We had an intern work on our teeth, but Dr. Pollard still came over to talk to us and introduce himself; very warm and welcoming. Made us feel like we were friends and he wanted us there - the rest of the staff/atmosphere matched. Even the intern was impressive in skill and friendliness. We both knew immediately where we will take our future business, even though we are on the complete opposite end of Ankeny!
