Dr. Matthew A. Pollard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Hardin-Simmons University, located in Abilene, Texas. Following his graduation in 1997, Dr. Pollard worked in the environmental field until returning to university two years later to pursue a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Texas A & M University Baylor College of Dentistry in his home town of Dallas, Texas. Dr. Pollard graduated with honors in 2005, receiving his regional and national board certifications, scoring in the 90th percentile in clinical and didactic components of both examinations.
Dr. Pollard has dreamed of living in Western Washington since the summer of 1992, when he first travelled to the Pacific Northwest for a month-long trek of the Olympic wilderness. He returned to Washington almost every summer thereafter, making similar hikes. Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Pollards dream was realized when he was offered an associate position with Dr. Thomas W. Creed, who had opened his practice 26 years prior in the tight-knit community of Silverdale, Washington. A year later, Dr. Pollard purchased the practice from Dr. Creed and has enjoyed converting it into a state-of-the-art clinical dental practice.
After only his first year in practice, Dr. Pollard was recognized by the readers of the Central Kitsap Reporter as the Best Dentist in Central Kitsap. Additionally, Dr. Pollard was voted Best Dentist by the readers of WestSound Magazine.
In February 2012, Dr. Pollard had the privilege of participating in an oral surgery mission trip to Dominican Republic. While in this severely dentally underserved country, Dr. Pollard, along with 20 other doctors, were able to perform Dental Implant Placements, Sinus Lifts, Ridge Splits, Ramus and Chin Block surgeries on over 500 patients, free of charge.
Dr. KLa Benson graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology from Pacific Lutheran University and went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Dr. Benson is originally from Poulsbo, WA, and she is excited to be back home practicing in a town where she can enjoy nature and be a part of the community. Her passion for dentistry clearly shows in her commitment to her patients as well as her pursuit of continuing education to strengthen and expand her knowledge.
Dr. Benson decided to become a dentist because her own experiences as a child and young adult were not pleasant, and she saw an opportunity to make a positive difference in the field of dentistry and help people. Her goal is to eradicate dental disease and restore health and function to anyone suffering from tooth loss or pain. She takes her patients care to heart and wants everyone to feel comfortable, relaxed, and calm during treatment. I want my patients to look forward to seeing me and the rest of the dental team.
Working in dentistry allows Dr. Benson to meet and get to know so many different people and help them achieve their oral health goals. She cares for patients of all ages and enjoys connecting with the families in the community. Dr. Benson strives to make her dental practice as caring and compassionate as possible, always focusing on what the patient needs and wants most.
When Dr. Benson is not providing exceptional dental care at Pollard Dental, she is often outside in nature with her beloved dog. Her interests include snowboarding, photography, hiking, and gardening. She especially enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
