The Kois Center is part of a continuing education program that was founded in 1994 by Dr. John C. Kois. Unlike other such programs, the Kois Center conducts and publishes independent research, and the courses it offers are updated accordingly. As a benefit of training at the Kois Center, Dr. Shelton is thoroughly knowledgeable when it comes to bite mechanics, dental implants, and various other subjects. She also networks with other Kois-trained dentist, letting her stay up to date with cutting-edge dental information.
For Dr. Shelton, dentistry just felt like the perfect fit right away. In fact, she made the decision when she was 12 and hasnt looked back since! She loves working with her hands, learning about science, and creating beautiful artistry. Oral healthcare was the ideal opportunity to allow her analytical and creative brain processes to align. Plus, her specific focus on cosmetic dentistry and unique vision to create healthy, strong, and beautiful smiles sets her approach to patient care above the rest! Shes been a practicing dentist for 15 years now, with hopefully many more tocome.
After attending Wichita State University, Dr. Shelton graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry with her dental doctorate. She has also attended advanced educational training beyond traditional school with the KOIS Center, a world-renowned post-graduate level dental teaching center. This experience allowed Dr. Shelton to better understand and treat complex cases (such as cosmetic dentistry, full mouth reconstruction, and more complicated bite programs) and treat simpler cases with greater care and knowledge. Today, she is an Invisalign Premier Provider and a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Academy of General Dentistry, Academy of Laser Dentistry, and Seattle Study Club.
Dr. Shelton and her husband Nick have a Golden Retriever at home named Cali. In her free time, she loves traveling, DJing, keeping up with her fitness/health, taking care of her plants, and indulging in a nice glass of wine from time to time. Shes also passionate about interior home design!
Originally from Chicago, Kim comes from a very large family (shes number four of eight children!), so a lot of her free time is dedicated to hanging out with her loved ones, including her two rescue dogs, Daisy and Oliver Queen. She also enjoys finding hidden gem restaurants and is a horror movie enthusiast. To stay active, she likes to hike and play soccer, plus she hopes to go surfing for the first time in the near future!
Liz is the anchor of our dental team. She has over 5 years of experience in dentistry, and she chose this field based on a good experience she had with her dental assistant as a kid. Liz has advanced training in Invisalign, CEREC, iTero, and cone beam. Her passion for dentistry and the patients shows in her welcoming smile and knowledge of dental and complete health.
Liz was born and raised in Escondido. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys walking her dog, Zoey. Liz believes that The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step Lao Tzu. She applies this to all of her life pursuits. If you want to make Liz smile, treat her to a margarita or Starbucks.
Theola may be new to our team, but her career in the dental world impressively covers almost 30 years! She studied dentistry at Orange Coast College and Concorde College. Today, what she enjoys most about her position is getting to work closely with the other team members while also helping patients achieve healthier, happier smiles.
Away from work, Theola has three children and three grandchildren. Although the others live out of state, theyre still a close-knit family that all shares a love of football. In her free time, she enjoys riding her motorcycle up to Santa Barbara, going on weekend getaways, walking along the beach, and hiking with her Cane Corso Georgia
Charlottes career in the dental world covers well over 20 years so far, and she takes pride in providing great service to her valued patients while being as kind as possible. Originally from the Bay Area, she has also undergone additional training in CEREC technology.
Gisela studied dental assisting at Pima Medical Institute and also has advanced training in iTero scanning and CEREC. As one of our assistants, she loves creating a connection with patients over time! Helping them escape pain and live a happier life is so rewarding. In turn, they definitely like her goofy personality.
Giselas family of two is looking forward to welcoming a baby Pitbull in the near future! As for hobbies, she enjoys playing video games with her boyfriend and friends, exploring new restaurants and places around town, appreciating the outdoors, and going on road trips.
Melissa has filled in for Dr. Shelton here and there over the last five years, and shes thrilled to have just signed on to be one of our full-time employees! She loves that this dental office isnt just about teeth its about full health care. She always takes the time to educate patients on the importance of a healthy mouth while also keeping up to date on the newest findings in dentistry.
Outside of work, Melissa is close with her parents and two siblings. In addition to being a dental assistant, she loves teaching it too and has been doing so since 2017! As for personal hobbies, shes a big movie buff (especially scary movies) and also enjoys riding her beach cruiser down by the ocean.
Theresa may be relatively new to our team, but shes worked in the dental field for over 15 years so far. She loves being able to utilize state-of-the-art technology while also empowering patients each day by teaching them all about their oral/systemic health! She has trained at the Kois Center and is laser certified.
Pavlinas career in the dental world spans over two full decades so far. She attended the Southwestern dental hygiene program and has undergone additional training with the Kois Center, Zimmer Dental Implants, and the California Implant Institute. As a dental hygienist, she works hard to empower her patients with knowledge. She is their trusted partner in combating periodontal infection and their cheerleader as they continue to stay healthy!

Had my first appointment here and I was blown away. There was plenty of parking and it's easy to find, it's the first place inside. Clean, modern, dental office with new equipment. The X-rays were taken with a small handheld machine, which was a first for me. They also took pictures, and did a digital scan of my mouth which they could then model to show me a pressure map of my bite. I mean, there's a tv on the ceiling, I was impressed. They pressure washed my teeth clean and blasted my gums with lasers leaving my mouth feeling cleaner than It ever has. Not to mention the staff it so professional and kind, they use star-trek style communicators to make sure every part of the operation runs as smooth as can be. I showed up with the mouth of a peasant and we are going to create the mouth of a king. Allen Kim is the best dentist around, I drove to Fresno to see him before. It's so important to be able to trust your dentist. I've been burned before and for the first time I'm actually excited to return to the dentist.

Saw Dr. Kim as a first time patient after falling and breaking one of my front teeth. His office was able to get me an appointment the very next day! Everyone was amazing from the front office staff to the hygienists. I was so nervous because I'd never had any emergency dental work done, but Shar and Theresa took great care of me and made the whole process a lot less scary. Dr. Kim was kind, gentle, and empathetic. He checked in with me regularly while fixing my tooth and made sure I wasn't having pain. Most importantly, he fixed my smile to the point where you cannot even tell that half my tooth is fake! I highly recommend Dr. Kim and everyone at Polished Dentistry!

My fiance found this office for me after having a bad experience with a chain dentist. I've ALWAYS hated going to the dentist ever since I was young. This place has changed the way I see dentist appointments. I don't dread coming here. Everyone is so incredibly welcoming. They do an incredible job putting you at ease. They explain everything to you before doing anything. The office is clean and up to date on the latest technology. They don't guilt you if you've been slacking on flossing. It's clear they care about their patients and aren't just trying to make money. I would highly recommend this office to anyone and everyone. Mel and Dr. Kim have treated me very well here and I couldn't be happier with their care.

I'm sure this practice is great if you are wealthy or have insane dental insurance, but if you're an average person, please go elsewhere. I wish I'd looked at the negative reviews before going because my experience was nearly the exact same. I recently moved and saw my old dentist right before I left with no issues. Suddenly here, my teeth are rotting out of my head and I need $1500 of work done to save them. Got a second opinion at a HIGHER RATED dentistry and I have two minor cavities. Also had the grossest cleaning of my life here with water running down my face constantly. Their buzz phrase is "our standard of care is higher than other dentists" (you'll hear it at least 100 times) and you can tell that the hygienists and other staff are essentially speaking from a script. I asked for copies of my X-rays and they said they'd send them and then they never did. They also told me if I saw another dentist I couldn't come back to them What a joke. Again, if you have thousands of dollars to spend for perfect teeth, good for you! I'm sure this is how they weed out not wealthy patients so they have consistent money coming in. But for the rest of us, please find somewhere less gimmicky. They are sales people first and dental professionals second.

Amazing service like always. The whole team always provides excellent dental care and are very welcoming. I've been receiving services here for about a year now. They are very through, professional and educational. They're always looking out for your well being. I'm looking forward to my next appointment with them. Most of the staff is very trauma informed and try their best not to shame anyone for anything. While pricey it's worth every penny to have a pleasant experience with a loveing staff

I've always had such a great experience here. If I could give 10 stars I would. My babysitter cancelled last minute so I brought my son and the receptionists watched him for two hours in the front, giving him snacks and holding him while I got a crown put on. This place goes above and beyond. Even before bringing my son, it felt like a family environment. I fully trust everyone here and it's nice to walk into the friendly, happy culture that they have created. 10/10.
