Doctors Podvia and Stanford met during their freshman year at dental school at the University of Florida. After becoming part of the same circle of friends, they quickly kindled a friendship with one another. Friendship came easily for them because of their similar personalities and outlooks on life.
Their vision expanded, with the doctors seeking a larger, more updated facility to provide an even higher quality of care for their patients. In February 2013, Podvia & Stanford relocated into a modernized facility at the corner of New Berlin and Yellow Bluff roads (in the Oceanway area).
Just as they expected those many years ago, their early friendship blossomed into a unified pairing of two dentists with similar work ethics and dedication to the utmost quality of care for their patients.
Inspired by her fathers medical background and love of his patients, Dr. Podvia attended the University of Florida College of Dentistry, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1997. To further prepare herself, Dr. Podvia completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Podvia is an active member of the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, and the Jacksonville Dental Association. To ensure she can continue to provide the most current and excellent care to her patients, Dr. Podvia annually attends numerous continuing education courses.
Dr. Podvia and her husband, Rob, reside in Amelia Island with their two children, Nicholas and Emilee, and their other children, Daisy Dog and Millie Dog. She enjoys outings to the beach, watching her childrens sporting activities, jogging, and the company of friends and family.
Dr. Alisha Stanford grew up in the close-knit community of Starke, Florida. Her father is Dr. Harry Gruen, an accomplished dentist of 40 years. Watching her father and his love of dentistry, Dr. Stanford knew at an early age that she would follow in his footsteps.
Dr. Stanford is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, and Northeast District Society. She attends numerous continuing education courses so that she can continue to provide her patients with quality, cutting-edge dentistry.
Dr. Stanford and her husband, Doug, reside in Northern St. Johns County with their two children, Will and Jillian. During her time away from the office, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and being a devoted mother. An admitted perfectionist who maintains intense focus caring for her patients, she cherishes mindlessly losing herself in the numerous recordings on her DVR.

Another great appointment! All the staff members are friendly. The doctors do great work. I have been replacing my silver filling w/ white fillings. So glad to have a great dentist so close to home.

I went in for a cleaning and x-rays for a routine preventative maintenance. Under my insurance it's always been no charge. I found out about a month ago that I had a bill for $195 for x-rays and a cleaning. Instead of letting me know ahead of time that they were out of my network. They went ahead with the x-rays and the cleaning. The answer I get on the phone is we sent out a letter. Beyond disgusted. They let me know on the phone that they're going to send my bill to collections. I tried to meet them halfway at $100 and it wasn't good enough. Not doing business with someone shady.

Upon arriving to the office a very pleasant young lady checked me in. I had a somewhat dental emergency. After checking on my issue we decided to move forward with fixing it the same day, which required 2 hours of work. Thank you so much Dr. Podvia for seeing that I left in much better shape then I arrived. The entire staff is always so helpful and caring!

I have major dental anxiety from a traumatic event as a kid. They are so patient with me and very kind. I also love that their support team is super helpful with all of my billing questions.

This was my first visit to the dentist in over 15 years and I could not have asked for a better experience; everyone was so nice and very accommodating. They spent as much time as I needed to make sure all my concerns were addressed while going in to detail on things that needed to be done. I have no doubt that my best interest was their priority while making sure I was informed and comfortable in any decisions going forward.

This practice is amazing!!! I see Dr. Podvia. To say I'm the most picky patient ever is probably an under statement. I have zero complaints with Dr. P and her amazing staff. I've been a patient of other north side dental offices and they can't touch this one. With state of the art technology, going to the dentist no longer has to be a dreaded visit. I actually look forward to it.

This office just ruined a 10+ year dentist/patient relationship over a money grab attempt. They scheduled my kids for a 3rd cleaning during the insurance calendar year knowing that it wouldn't covered, then called me demanding the money for the services. We have had our entire family at this practice for years, and they're fully aware insurance only covers 2 cleanings per year. We're 8 days away from the new year so why would cleanings be scheduled for this week instead of the first week in Jan? They said they called to confirm a copay the week prior, but copays are typically for additional services and this was just a cleaning that is normally covered 100%. This was definitely deceitful and an apparent attempt to make a little extra cash. It's unfortunate, but we'll be moving all 4 of us to another practice.

We have been looking for a family dentist for awhile now, and I can honestly say that this was the best experience I've had so far anywhere. I took my oldest son, Noah Pena, here today and everyone was so friendly, knowledgeable and helped me plan and break down everything. Including calling and scheduling the referral for me!!! This is the first review I've ever left in my life. I tend not to do so because I own and operate a business with 50+ employees and understand the impact on a business receives when the actions of one employee are less than satisfactory. I would prefer to inform a manger or owner and allow them the opportunity to rectify it 1st. Anyway enough about that and with experience. Almost 3 years ago I received custody of my two boys I am when they moved in, I had not been to the dentist for a couple years. My dentist was not able to get new patients in for a month so I reached out to my this dentistry who had availability the same week. The receptionist was fantastic the facility was nice and the dentist were friendly. At the end of the cleaning I was disappointed to find out one child had 11 cavities and the other had 14 cavities. We quickly put together a plan to repair all of this and get the boys back on the right track. The total came out to about $5000 however my insurance covered almost all of it and I had small co-pay. Due to the number of cavities each child had four appointments. About a week after my sounds first session I got a call from the dentist stating that they did not except my insurance and I owe them $1400 for the first session. I was upset due to the fact that they checked my insurance before my first appointment for the cleaning and everything was fine now they're saying I owe them 1400.00. I disagreed and stated I would not have use them for service if my insurance was not valid with them I would've simply matter if I'm with another dentist and moved on. To this day I still have an invoice with them for $1400 which I never pay. It is affecting my credit however it's the principle. This however isn't even the reason for the bad review. I reached back out to my dentist that we have used for several years. After the boys check up the dentist reported zero cavities and one child's mouth and two in the other. At this point Podvia and Stanford lost all credibility in my book. In hindsight, I would rather have this illegitimate $1400 collection on my credit then still taking my kids to a dentist who would do this.

Love, love this place! I actually look forward to going to the dentist. Not only do they give superb dental care but they truly care about the patient as a whole. They ask about you and see how you and your family are doing and they remember the details and show true compassion and care. Every single person in the office does this but my faves are Faith and Dr Stanford! Love you all and thank you!

So - I had my first visit with Dr. Stanford and the staff at Podvia & Stanford this week. I had not been to the dentist in 8 years due to a bad experience at a difference dental facility (don't judge me at least I went now). I have to say that the staff here was outstanding, Nicole and Megan were great and definitely put my mind at ease and made me very comfortable. I appreciate the way the staff explained steps and talked me through the entire process. Thank you for the great experience!

Hands down the BEST Dental practice I have ever been to! Dr. Alisha Stanford is my Dentist. She is beautiful, intelligent, funny, and a tooth fairy!! From the front office to the back office the entire staff is welcoming and loving! I have referred family and friends near and far. I wish I could give this group of exceptional human beings a 10 star rating!!!
