Dr. Paul M. Kaplan, or Dr. Root, as he is affectionately known in this area, has been practicing as an Endodontist (Root Canal Therapy Specialist) in Rhode Island and Massachusetts for over twenty two years. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Dental Medicine, as well as the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education. He received his specialty certificate in Endodontics from the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Additionally, while at the University of Buffalo, he was awarded a Masters of Science degree in the Oral Sciences for pioneering research he completed in the field of Digital Subtraction Radiography.
Dr. Kaplan has been awarded many honors, including being selected nationally as America's Top Dentist in the field of Endodontics for the past 16 years in a row, and being honored locally as a Rhode Island and Massachusetts Top Endodontist on multiple occasions.
In addition to treating patients in our dental office, Dr. Kaplan is involved in the academic arena of dentistry as well. He served as clinical instructor and professor at Tufts Universitys School of Dental Medicine and Boston Universitys School of Dental Medicine, where he taught the post-graduate endodontic residents. Currently, he runs the Endodontic department and teaches the AEGD residents at U. Mass Memorial Hospital.
Nina started her dental career in 2010 as a dental assistant working at Pleasant Smiles with Dr. Bajwa but decided to continue her education in dental hygiene. After obtaining her bachelors degree in 2019 from Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Nina came back to join our team. As a dental hygienist, she is passionate about motivating her patients to improve their oral health. You will find that she has a gentle touch, able to put her patients at ease and ensures a positive dental experience. Nina loves spending time with her family, traveling, and dining out in new restaurants.

2021 I'm an anxious dental patient. The Doctor and staff helped me to stay semi relaxed during my visit. I highly recommend Pleasant Smiles! 2022 my 2nd visit was Amazing! As the doctor told me it was painless. Had a root canal done and he did an amazing job. I told him no dentist is painless but for once I was wrong. Also he had a good sense of humor with good music playing. I'd recommend this office.

Terrific experience for this patient who is new to the practice. Nina the hygienist was thorough, pleasant and gentle. I was seen exactly on time, and the follow up after with the dentist was efficient and informative. Could not be more pleased.

Came in as a new patient to have an emergency root canal and these guys were awesome. So professional and caring. They made me laugh and saved me from a lot of pain. Dr. Kaplan even called to check in on me personally later that day. Great service, very satisfied.

Dr. Harveen Bajwa has provided thorough, preventive, 6-month periodical dental cleanings to me for more than 3 years. This was my first visit to this office. It was, by far, the best experience I've had at a dentist. Dr. Bajwa explained everything quite well and patiently. I could tell she was recommending a plan that made the most sense, and was also quite cognizant of cost, time-frames, etc. The girls at the front were also very professional, courteous and efficient. My digital experience (web site, reminders, appointments, etc.) with Pleasant Smiles was also excellent.
