Moira has been with Pleasant Dental since its inception in 1996! She loves being part of the team here and helping patients to achieve a healthy and beautiful smile. Although my college degree is in nursing, I have been working in the dental field for almost 30 years and have been at Pleasant Dental since December, 2016. After staying home with my two children through their early years I decided I needed to find a career that enabled me to be home nights and weekends. The dental field was a natural fit.

I love dealing with people and making them feel at ease in a sometimes stressful environment. It is truly rewarding to see someones life transformed by the simple act of giving them a healthy and beautiful smile!

Amanda Lein is a Dental Hygienist who graduated from Fones School of Dental Hygiene with a Bachelors Degree in Hygiene. Megan Casey, RDH, BSDH graduated from the Fones School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport. Her prior experience in her fathers dental office readied her to be a great dental hygienist. She has a passion for the dental field and looks forward to years of knowledge. Megan enjoys helping others and takes pride in her work. In her free time, she enjoys crafts of all kinds, spending time with her friends and family, and her cat.

Amanda Colaco is a dental assistant who graduated from Porter and Chester institute in 2018. Her favorite thing about assisting is speaking to patients and assuring that they have a great experience! Aside from work, she loves to go on walks with her two dogs and spend time with her friends and family.

Teemerose is a graduate of Henry Abbott Tech where she became certified in cosmetology. After a few years in cosmetology, Teeme decided it was time for a career change and became a dental assistant. She has been doing this for almost 20 years now. She enjoys what she does, especially helping and being around people. Outside of work she enjoys being with her three children and her cat Chloe.

The team at Pleasant Dental believe in the importance of preventative care. We focus on keeping patients in good oral health so that they can live a full, healthy, and enjoyable life that is free from oral pain. This starts by educating our patients on what they can do to stay healthy at home. In our family dentist office we recommend that patients eat a healthy diet that consists of green leafy vegetables, lean protein, nuts, dairy products, and crunchy fruits and veggies. Eating these foods along with drinking water can help to keep teeth healthy and make them stronger. By simultaneously reducing sugar intake, patients can also reduce their risk of cavities.

It is also important to brush and floss throughout the day. Instead of waiting for bedtime to brush teeth, carry a small toothbrush and use it after meals and snacks. This makes it possible to remove sugar and bacteria from the teeth and gums before it has the opportunity to turn into acid that can attack the teeth. This preventative step can greatly reduce a persons' risk of getting a cavity or gum disease. We understand the importance of taking these steps at home and will spend the time necessary to educate and inform patients so that they can stay healthy overall. Education, after all, is essential for living a long and healthy life.

Understanding the importance of these regular dental exams, the staff at Pleasant Dental work to make each patient extremely comfortable. This includes being welcoming and kind while performing dental treatments in a way that is painless and relaxing. Patients visit our dentist office because they trust us to do just that take care of their teeth and gums, gently. The majority of our patients are local and come from the greater Newtown area, we also see patients that are looking for gentle dental care.

Seniors, on the other hand, often struggle with gum disease and oral infections. As people age, their teeth can become weaker and infected more easily. Bone loss is incredibly common with seniors and by conducting regular dental exams, the team at Pleasant Dental can help seniors to have strong teeth and reduce the risk of them falling out. Since over seventy percent of U.S. adults suffer from tooth loss, preventative care is important.

A. Primary, or 'baby,' teeth are important for many reasons. Not only do they help children speak clearly and chew naturally, they also aid in forming a path that permanent teeth can follow when they are ready to come in.

A. First, rinse the irritated area with warm salt water and place a cold compress on the face if it is swollen. Give the child acetaminophen for any pain, rather than placing aspirin on the teeth or gums. Finally, see a dentist as soon as possible.

A. Sealants work by filling in the crevasses on the chewing surfaces of the teeth. This shuts out food particles that could get caught in the teeth, causing cavities. The application is fast and comfortable and can effectively protect teeth for many years.

A. Have your family dentist evaluate the fluoride level of your child's primary source of drinking water. If your child is not getting enough fluoride internally through water (especially if the fluoride level is deficient or if your child drinks bottled water without fluoride), then we may prescribe fluoride supplements.

A. Soft plastic mouthguards can be used to protect teeth, lips, cheeks and gums from sport related injuries. A custom-fitted mouthguard will protect your teeth from injuries and even provide protection from severe injuries to the head.

A. There is very little risk in dental X-rays. Family dentists are especially careful to limit the amount of radiation to which you and your family are exposed. Lead aprons and high-speed film are used to ensure safety and minimize the amount of radiation. Digital x-rays provide an even greater level of protection by using up to 90 percent less radiation.

When it comes to the dental care of your child, the right time for your childs first visit to a family dentist might be sooner than you think. One survey by the Delta Dental Plans Association found that many childrens first dental visit was not until the age of two. This is later than it

As a family dentist in Newtown, an expresison that we share with patients is a family that brushes together, visits the dentist less. This very effectively sums up how we feel about families who make an effort to instill healthy, best practices in their children. The better we are at teaching our children great oral

At Pleasant Dental, we provide services for the entire family. We are proud to be part of the Newtown community and are focused on helping our patients maintain healthy teeth and gums for a lifetime. We understand the value and importance of regular preventative care and education. We believe that the more you know about

From the first visit everyone was very welcoming, genuine and such great service. I'm not sure I've had such a great time at the dentist. Even with Covid-19 they were clean, protected and smiling with their eyes! I always look forward to my cleanings and visits.

Dr. Teeking was my dentist for years until I moved. As far as I'm concerned Dr. Teeking is a great dentist who knows what he is doing. My daughter has anxiety about dentists & pain. She had horrible experiences elsewhere & those dentists didn't know what they were doing. She came home from Dr. Teeking's today & said "I love Dr. Teeking." He's the best dentist. She didn't even feel the novocaine but said it hurt a lot when the other dentists gave it to her. Everyone said she needed root canals but Dr. Teeking filled her teeth & we are very lucky to have him.
