Dr. Amelia Chim had earned a masters degree for her publishedresearch in the children with Autism in addition to completingayear-long fellowship specializing in dentistry for patients with special needs.
As a pediatric dentist, Dr. Amelia Chim dedicates her career specifically to treatboth healthy and medically compromised children and adolescence. Within this, she spends the majority of her time collaborating with local functional therapists to help infants and children feeding, speech, and other growthproblem. Dr. Amelia is highly educated in allfacets of physiologic dentistry and offer multiple treatment options to address oral myofunctional problems in children.
As a parent to four children, she can personally relate to parents concerns and believes that parents educationplay a very important role in their childrens oral health.In addition to being in her private practice, Dr. Ameliaalso spends her time teaching at the Pediatric Dentistry department of the University of Washington
Raised in Torrance, California, Dr. Aka is a graduate of the University of California at San Diego (BA, Animal Physiology) and the University of California at Los Angeles (DDS). During his four years as a dental student at UCLA, Dr. Aka volunteered atseveral children 's dental clinics. Quickly discovering that children werefun and that 'big people werescary,' he made the easy decision to dedicate his career to caring for the dental needs of infants, children and young adults. As a result, after completing the requirements for his DDS degree, Dr. Aka applied to and was accepted by the UCLA School of Dentistry 's Postdoctoral Program inPediatric Dentistry. During the final year of his two-year residency, Dr. Aka was chosen by the faculty, staff and peers to serve as Chief Resident.
Upon graduation, Dr. Aka was offered the position of Director of Pediatric Dentistry for the Hawaii Dental Group (HDG). He could not resist the opportunity to live and work in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he had spent many summers as a youngster. Following five years with HDG, he ventured onward to 'sunny' Seattle, worked as an associate for pediatric dentists in Seattle and Tacoma until ultimately opening his own practice, Plateau Dentistry for Children. He has over 25 years of experience as a pediatric dentist.

Really great team! The staff booked my baby right away and did the treatment fast and as gentle as can be! I definitely recommend them for treatment! Amazing work staff and DDS!!

Always appreciate Plateau Dentistry for my children's teeth. They know my children from young till age-out. Our children's teeth are sealed well and didn't have any decay. Always gave us advanced notices when it comes to any possible dental situations, like wisdom teeth or brace needed. Just a big thanks from us.

They did amazing, patient, kind and friendly with my rambunctious and apprehensive 3 year old son. They were sweet and patient explaining each step to my five year old so that she felt safe. She was so comfortable she even opted for an additional preventative service that kept her in the chair another ten minutes! Toys at the end were a big hit of course, All around a wonderful experience.

My three kids have been going to Plateau Dentistry since we moved to the area eight years ago. The staff is always warm and welcoming and my children have all had positive experiences going to the dentist. One child sometimes has a hard time due to a gag reflex and anxiety. The doctors and support staff are always very patient, understanding, and take great care to communicate in a way that makes even difficult situations better. I highly recommend Plateau Dentistry to any parent looking for a great pediatric dentist!

This is the best dental place to bring your children. All clinic stuff was very professional, patient, kind and helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure that boys get treated and not be scared (in our case it was very hard to achieve).

The front office team is excellent and very informative about what my health insurance allows for my son's dental care. The Dental assistants/dental hygienists work well with my son. I've been coming here since my son was two, and now he will be turning five at the end of the year. Our last visit especially was stress-free. It was a challenge for my son to bite down long enough on the mouthpiece to get an x-ray scan. The dental assistant was patient and encouraging the whole time as she guided him. Another dental assistant passed by and jumped in to help. She stood at the button to capture the x-ray scan while the other stood with my son to hold the mouthpiece. We were successfully able to capture some photos! We've seen both Dr. Aka and Dr. Amelia, who are excellent and friendly with my son. I would recommend it!

Dr. Amelia and her staff were amazing with my 8 week old daughter for her tongue tie revision. She explained everything in detail and made sure all my questions were answered before they began. Afterwards, I needed to sit down for a second and she kindly rocked my baby so I could take a minute. She also followed up that evening to make sure things were going well. It's not fun watching Your baby get a procedure done but if you must do it I recommend Dr. Amelia

The nurse was very gentle and so kind to show my kid the instruments and made him comfortable at his first visit. He was happy to get the cleanup done. I recommend for all kids especially younger ones. Thanks
