Dr. Steven Melonakos (pronounced mel-oh-NAH-kos) is from Newton, NC where he attended Fred T. Foard High School. After high school, he graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors degree in Biology and then went on to receive his dental training and DDS degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
While at UNC, Dr. Melonakos met and married his wife, Janet, who was in graduate schoolat Duke. Dont worry, they somehow have a happy marriage! Dr. Melonakos and Janet have a very busy 7-year-old daughter, another 5-year-old daughter who is always ready with a smile, a 3-year-old son who loves being his dads shadow, and a new daughter whos not even 1 yet. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dr. Melonakos has been involved in numerous service and outreach efforts (mainly through working with the youth).
Dr. Melonakos is a member of the ADA (American Dental Association), the AGD (Academy of General Dentistry), the NCDS (North Carolina Dental Society), and is currently the president of the ICDS (Iredell County Dental Society). Dr. Melonakos has also been involved with the NC Missions of Mercy clinics in Charlotte and other locations around the state. He is passionate about dentistry and is committed to providing compassionate and competent care. He has a special interest in prosthodontics and in surgical procedures.
When not at the office Dr. Melonakos loves to be active and outdoors (and on beautiful Lake Norman!). Having caught the competitive bug playing soccer and tennis in high school, Dr. Melonakos will try and play just about any sport. He has run several half-marathons and completed his first triathlon a few summers ago. He also loves art and photography.
Brandi, our office manager, is a lifelong Mooresville resident. She attended Lake Norman High School where she met her husband Aaron. After high school, Brandi attended Lake Norman Dental Assisting School and found a love for dentistry. Having been in dentistry since 2004, Brandi has more than 15 years of dental experience! From dental assisting to insurance coordinating to office managerial expertise, she brings a lot of knowledge and know-how to our team. Brandi loves to educate our patients and explain the options they have.
Sloane has been in the dental field since 2010. She loves helping people with their needs and is excellent with helping patients learn about and utilize their dental benefits. If you have an insurance question, Sloane is your woman!
Amy, one of our hygienists, is a lifelong North Carolina resident.She grew up in the Greensboro area and moved to Mooresville in 1998 when her husband Dan was transferred to Charlotte with US Airways. Dan and Amy have two daughters and three sons. Even though their oldest three children now live out of state, they all still consider Mooresville home!
Amy has been a dental hygienist since 2002 and joined the Plantation Dental team in November 2012. Amy has a special talent for making dental visits comfortable and relaxing and considers helping patients with dental anxiety her specialty. Its hard to miss her passion and zeal for outstanding dentistry and oral health education!
Sara, another hygienist, graduated from Forsyth Tech with her dental hygiene degree in 2017 and has been working with us ever since. She currently lives in China Grove and is also an outdoors woman. Sara loves spending time with family, doing anything from relaxing around a bonfire, to hayrides, skeet-shooting, going to concerts (country!), or just tearing up the countryside in her JEEP! olllllo
Sara is dedicated to helping her patients smiles become and remain healthy and beautiful. She takes pride in guiding patients who might struggle with their dental health return for their next visit with great improvements in their oral hygieneand she loves seeing the confidence that brings to their lives!
Heather is a small-town, midwestern girl, born and raised in Nebraska (Go Huskers!). She moved to Mooresville in 2005 after college, and has been a dental assistant since 2005 (dental assistant II, CDA), giving her almost 15 years experience in chair-side assisting! Shes excellent at making patients feel welcome and comfortable while getting dental treatmentit makes her day to help improve smiles!
