A Certified Dental Assistant assists the doctor during and after dental procedures by taking x-rays, impressions or molds, mixing materials and maintaining strict infection-control procedures. They help explain treatment that was done or needs to be done to the patient.

The Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP) is a great option for patients who are averse to long surgeries and even longer recovery periods. When compared to traditional gum surgery, laser gumsurgery in Plainville, CT is much less stressful and minimally painful. In fact, with LANAP, Dr. David Edelson and Dr. Kaitlyn Paretto can remove up to 90 percent of the inflammation in just a single short session. Here is a brief description of how it works:

The first step in LANAP is to examine the depths of your periodontal pockets to determine how much attachment loss has occurred. This will give us a clue as to how severe the infection is so that we can adjust your treatment accordingly.

Once we have analyzed your pocket depths, we can begin removing bacteria and infected tissue. In contrast to traditional gum surgery which uses scalpels to cut away tissue, LANAP uses a laser that is not absorbed by water, teeth, or bone. This means that only diseased tissue will be affected while the healthy tissue is left untouched.

Once the calculus has been removed, we will use the laser once more to create blood clots and stimulate the regrowth of bone and tissue. Not only does this help prevent infection during the healing process, it also helps to preserve your teeths natural support structures and prevent future tooth loss.

Finally, we will examine your bite to ensure that no damage has occurred and make any adjustments that are deemed necessary. This is especially important if you have experienced bone loss prior to your gum surgery.

Dr Edelson made us both feel very comfortable with our dental work. My wife got a bridge done and I had a root canal and a crown. He was professional and easy to deal with. It was a good experience considering what had to be done. The front office was good with the appointment scheduling and billing. The only downside was leading up to my crown I received multiple phone calls , messages and text messages asking if I was going to come to my appointment I made with them. I answered the text with a C confirming as was instructed and left a message saying I would be there and they still called me again. No less than 10 messages would I be coming is way too many. If I made the appointment I will be there. I'm a return customer who's never been late or missed an appointment.

Initially had a cleaning performed. She was incredible. Very delicate and polite but needed to do what she needed to do. Did an awesome job! Extremely pleased with the cleaning and initial appointment/assessment. Next had to do a big filling. The Dr and his assistant were very polite, courteous and professional. Always concerned about me and if I was doing ok. I couldn't be more pleased. I had to find another dentist because my dentist is in the process of retiring. Had him since 1984, so it's not easy. My brother and his family referred me to this new doctor. Not that I enjoy going to the dentist, but at least I know I'll be taken care of very well. 5 + stars

It took me years to find a dentist office that I liked and would go back to and this is finally the one that made a difference. All of the staff were super friendly and very quickly eased my anxiety over going to the dentist. The office and rooms were nice, clean, and welcoming. They took the time to make sure all of my questions/concerns were answered/addressed, yet they were also quick with the procedure and it was painless. I am happy to be able to consider this my dentist office.

Luckily Hygienist Tina encouraged me to get overdue X-rays at my cleaning yesterday. My teeth feel great. Turned out I was having a problem under an ancient filling that I had no symptoms with. Dr R fixed it up this AM without ANY pain or nervousness. Oh gosh I should remember my dental assistant' name!!! She has, for years, been able to coach me thru. I am such a scaredy-cat. Portia!!! Dr R thanks for keeping me distracted with cool stories. Love you all!!!

Dr. Edelson my very long time dentist, always professional, always takes me on time, about as painless as going to a dentist can get. The same goes for Jolanta, his other hygienists and all the office staff. Courteous and always with a greeting and a smile.
