Our staff at Pittsford Pediatric Dentistry are always searching for innovative new services that we can incorporate into our practice for our patients and their parents, to help create a friendly, relaxed, and caring atmosphere. We are pleased to offer a unique service, our 'Dental Dog Days' program, for our patient families at Pittsford Pediatric Dentistry.

Arrangements have been made for 'registered Therapy Dogs' (certified by Therapy Dogs International) to periodically visit our office with their trainers and be available to interact and entertain patients and their families. These registered therapy dogs are specially trained to help provide stress-relief for those patients who need it but we have seen how all of our patients, their families, yes and even our own staff have enjoyed interacting with them.

The therapy dogs all have had to pass a rigorous training program and evaluation to become certified. They are trained to master not only basic obedience, but also be completely comfortable and accept common medical appliances. They are specially trained to tolerate clumsy handling (petting) and various distractions. Therapy Dogs International requires a yearly veterinary updated health record, but, because these therapy dogs also go to Strong Memorial Hospital, they are required to have veterinary health updates twice a year. Therapy dogs are known to lower blood pressure, ease tensions, and increase patients' positive attitudes. These therapy dogs routinely visit Strong Memorial Hospital, local schools, and retirement homes and we are very fortunate that they have agreed to come and visit with our patients in our office.

Pittsford Pediatric Dentistry is a professional yet children oriented dental office. The staff greet you the moment you open the door. I love the changes they made during COVID. It shows how they can roll with something so serious & keep you comfortable at the same time. The staff there are always jovial and make going to the Dentist NOT a bad thing at all!!!

This was my son's 1st experience at the dentist. I talked him up to be super excited about going & he really was looking forward to it! We were not even greeted at the door with even a simple "Good Morning", it was very cold and unfriendly. Working in a child specific profession, I expected more. The dentist himself seemed very Nice, but seemed frazzled and stated he was under staffed for the day. When my son started crying because he was gagging from the brushing, the remainder felt rushed to finish up including putting fluoride on his teeth which didn't seem critical or even something I could have been given to put on when we got home once he calmed down. They may do a nicer job for older children, but certainly not for a 1st experience. We will not be returning.

Dr. Kochman is an amazing dentist for children! He is funny, very knowledgeable, proactive, professional, caring, and he treats his patients like he would want his own children to be treated! One of our sons had a difficult time with his early dental experiences, and when we came to Dr. Kochman he used his knowledge in child psychology to help him relax and cooperate. We appreciate his early advice to see an orthodontist to correct some cross-bite and other issues at an age-appropriate, but early time which lessens the length of time needed for braces. Dr. Kochman is always thorough, clear, and a pleasure to work with! His staff are so friendly, helpful, and courteous, we cannot say enough good things about them! We are truly grateful to have found such an amazing pediatric dentist!!

My daughters first visit was today and it was s terrible experience. The dentist seemed to have no clue how to interact with a hesitant and scared toddler. He pushed her way too hard and then fed us some nonsense, psychological explanation of why he had to push her so hard. We will not be coming back.

We brought our almost 2 year old son here based on previous reviews. We didn't plan on having to find a dentist yet, but WOW! The reviews don't do Dr. Kochman justice. He was/is amazing! My son doesn't like getting his teeth brushed but Dr. Kochman had NO ISSUE! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

I was nervous about taking my two year old to the dentist and how she would react. Dr. Kochman and his team were very good with her and she absolutely loved it there! On Tuesdays and Thursdays they have therapy dogs for the children and my daughter loved seeing them. She even was able to have one of the dogs come in the backroom with her. As we were walking out to leave she goes "I want to go back" For a two year old to say that about a dentist to me was AMAZING. I would reccomend this place to anyone who has children. Everything was perfect.

Just had my 3-year old's first cleaning and I was appalled by the dentist's attitude and behavior. My kiddo was nervous and threw up after the teeth cleaning. I would expect a pediatric dentist would be patient and kind as my kiddo tried to settle down. Then while i tried to help soothe my child, the dentist basically told me to stop talking, and rushed to pry her mouth open to count her teeth. I was so upset I refused the fluoride treatment and was then scolded for not bringing my kiddo in for a morning appointment. I will not return and highly recommend that other parents look elsewhere... there is just no need to talk down to parents and rush an upset child. I would gladly stop an appointment and pay for another follow up visit than have my kiddo treated this way!

Recently we had a traumatic experience at my house. My children were watching a video together just before bed on a Friday night and actually getting along. My son turned quickly while holding the tablet and hit my daughter in the mouth. Immediately, they both started screaming and crying at the same time. My daughter's front tooth was knocked most of the way out but still hanging barely there. With blood everywhere and an 8 and 5 year old hysterical, I called Dr. Kochmann at home. He and his wife were extremely understanding, patient and and calming. He met us at the office, calmed my daughter who deals with severe anxiety and removed the tooth within 2 seconds. I cannot say enough about Dr. Kochmann and the effect he has over children to make them feel so relaxed and at ease. I wish i had been so lucky as a child to experience a dentist that cares so much about his patients!
