Dr. Mark Evans is a native to western Massachusetts where he attended local schools. He has been serving patients in private practice since 1985. He received his dental degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and then completed a one-year advanced training residency at Worcester City Hospital. His undergraduate degree, a B.S. in Biology, is from Springfield College.
Professionally he is an accreditation candidate with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), which provides the educational and networking opportunities for growth and advancement in advanced restorative and appearance related dentistry. He is also a participating dentist in the Give Back a Smile program, which provides restoration of smiles to victims of domestic abuse.
Dr. Evans serves as a board member for the dental assisting program at Porter and Chester Institute and provides clinical instruction for dental assisting students through the internship program. He is proud to be an active community, coaching youth soccer and track and field for many years.
Dr. Derrick F. Ziemba was born in the Pioneer Valley before moving to a suburb of Chicago, Illinois. He returned to the east coast to attend Providence College where he graduated with a B. S. in Biology, B.A. in Chemistry and a Business Studies certificate. Next, he went on to earn his dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Ziemba completed a General Practice Residency at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. During this year long program, he learned the relationship between dental health and overall medical health in patients.
He is also on the advisory committee at Porter and Chester Institute, Dental Assisting Department, the committee helps with the design of the students curriculum. Pioneer Valley Dental Arts is also one of the externship sites for dental assisting students to shadow the staff and get some real-life experience.
Each year Dr. Ziemba attends numerous hours of Dental continuing education to keep up with the newest technology, techniques and procedures. At this time he is participating in advanced training at the Spear Center of Excellence. He is certified in Straumann, 3i, and Noble-Biocare Implant Systems.
Dr. Lucido completed his dental doctorate at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and then completed post-graduate residency training in general practice at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY. During the rigorous program he received advanced training in all the dental specialties as well as management of medically-compromised patients.
While at Tufts, Dr. Lucido participated in two community service learning experiences and volunteered at the UNPHU School in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where he provided dental services to underserved communities. Dr. Lucido was also the recipient of the Award for Excellence in Pediatric Dentistry. He received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University where he was inducted into Alpha Epsilon Delta, a national health pre-professional honor society and also served as president of the Pre-Dental Student Association.
Out of the office, Dr. Lucido enjoys spending time with his girlfriend and French Bulldog as well as participating in golf, tennis, and basketball. A native New Yorker, he is looking forward to making the Pioneer Valley his home.

They are the best for so many reasons, I'd have to write such a long review you wouldn't read it all! Fantastic! They take care of you like family. They use only the best equipment. IT DOESN'T HURT (and I should know because I faint at a drop of blood.) They have the newest and best techniques. They are prompt. They deliver what they promise. Did I mention you won't feel a thing? They have financial solutions and programs for every budget. They are just wonderful people to talk to. You will smile better. You will feel better. They are just plain better then anyone else. They are they best.

Before visiting Pioneer Valley Dental, my only fear was of dental work. I was traumatized long ago by even the simplest of cleaning and the worst of extractions. But I finally swallowed my fear and made the visit and I'm glad I did. I was taken care of in ways I never expected by the staff, and the way Dr.Lucido assured me this would be unlike any visit to the dentist I ever had, and he was right. I felt very little to no discomfort at all. Definitely not what I remembered a visit being. I was shocked by the level of comfort, and the painless procedure that was done. I will make sure that ALL of my future visits are to Pioneer Valley Dental! Big shout out to the best Assistant ever, Meagan!

If more stars were an options, they'd all be checked. I've been going to this dental practice for several years now and could not be more pleased with my clinical care and all the way that I am made physically and emotioanlly comfortable during my visits. Gina has taken the time to get to know me as a full human, not just a set of teeth. Dr. Ziemba is caring and compassionate and support staff have always treated me with kindness and compassion. During these crazy, scary Covid times especially, I am grateful for all the team does to keep me feeling safe.

I do not know if I have ever left a review but feel like I need to since reviews may be incredibly important to others when it comes to seeing a new dentist or going back to a dentist after many years of neglect similar to myself. I had needed a root canal pronto and knew this was going to open pandoras box on my teeth and the pickle I may have put myself in from not going to a dentist regularly in quite some time (years...) I had originally made an appointment at a different office that had great reviews from people with similar concerns as me but they could not get me in for over a week and eventually the pain got too intense for me to wait. I called Pioneer Valley on a whim and they were able to take me the next day (THANK YOU) I ended up seeing Dr Lucido and he could not have made me feel more comfortable and did not make me feel embarrassed or afraid at all! I still have more visits ahead of me but I am as comfortable as one can be when it comes to dental work thanks to Dr. Lucido, the hygenists who have had to deal with my anxious antics and the receptionists who acted as my therapist when I first called in to make my appointment. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Highly recommend!

HIGHLY recommend!! if you are looking for any cosmetic changes in your smile.. look no further. i have had some insecurities about my smile and told Dr. Evans. He was so helpful and told me my options on how to improve the little things i don't particularly like. well, just got my teeth done today and i'm so so happy with them i could smile all day long!! not only do my teeth look perfect but they look natural which i love! Dr. Evans isnt only a Dentist, hes an artist. haha! the way he shaped my new teeth and made them perfect without looking fake, and being exactly what i wanted. He took his time to perfect it and i love how they came out! the appointment was rather quick and easy and everyone is so friendly there! Their customer service is great, every time i go in, the hygienists remember little details of conversations we had at previous appointments and that makes you feel so special!

Dr. Ziemba has literally changed my views on coming to the dentist. I have always been nervous to go to the dentist. In the beginning of me getting a filling replaced by Dr.Ziemba, I was super nervous, as this was my first time going to the dentist in quiet some time. I had clammy hands was sweating. About a third of the way through the procedure, I had to keep reminding myself to stay awake. I was so comfortable and the furthest thing from nervous anymore. The staff is great. Super friendly. The facility is well taken care of and clean. I definitely recommend Pioneer Valley Dental Arts to anyone. Especially anyone who gets nervous going to the dentist!

Ive been having some dental implants done, and I'm really glad that I found Dr. Ziemba and Pioneer Valley Dental Arts. While Dr. Ziemba doesn't do the implant surgery, he does make my permanent implant crowns, and he is a true artist at matching color and all the other detailing necessary for long-term comfort. It's all easy for me, because he communicates directly with the implant surgeons. In addition to finishing my implants, Dr. Ziemba has done some crowns and veneers for me, which really brightened my smile! I have a lot of ongoing work ahead, and I feel secure that it will be done promptly and with utmost care. As if that weren't enough, Dr. Ziemba's practice has adopted some of the latest innovations in dentistry, from ultrasound cleaning to flouride varnish (I got varnished today! ) If it seems like I'm a devoted patient and fan, all I have to say is: that's the effect that talent coupled with excellent, caring, highly personal service has on me. I agree, Gina is the best! (but don't tell her I said that) Dr Evans has impressed me with his professionalism and caring. There are many dental offices much closer to my home, but I travel to get my care here.
