Dr. John and his team are devoted to treating your endodontic needs with compassionate and quality oriented care. Working with your General Dentist, together we provide the best possible care for your oral health. Upon completion of endodontic therapy, your General Dentist will receive a detailed clinical report for use in subsequent restorative care.
Our office, built in October 2010, is a facility with modern design that optimizes workflow and patient comfort. Dr. John maintains the most advanced materials and equipment available today including digital radiography, Carl Zeiss microscopy, Cone Beam CT imaging, and the exclusive endodontic software The Digital Office (TDO).
Dr. Anthony John received his Bachelor of Science with a major in Zoology and a minor in Chemistry from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. He continued his education at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. John graduated as the top clinical rank in his class of 2002 and was awarded the HPSP Navy scholarship. He was then selected to complete an additional year of advanced education (AEGD residency) in general dentistry at the Navy's largest dental clinic in Norfolk, Virginia.
Following his residency, Dr. John proudly served as division officer onboard CVN-75 USS Harry S. Truman while deployed in the Persian Gulf during the Global War on Terrorism. After his tour was complete, he was selected for an advanced specialty residency in Endodontics at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. He concurrently earned a Master of Science in Oral Biology from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
After his specialty training was complete, he was granted the privilege to serve with the Marines at Camp Pendleton and Miramar Marine Corps Air Station in our beautiful San Diego, California. During his tour in San Diego, Dr. John and his family fell in love with the warm weather and community of Scripps Ranch. He decided to stay in San Diego and established Pinnacle Endodontics in 2010.

Rarely do I write reviews, but Dr. John and Pinnacle Endodontics definitely deserves one! I needed some teeth work done and did some extensive research before reaching out to Dr. John's office. Upon reaching out to Pinnacle Endodontics, I first got the opportunity to work with Autumn in the office who is like the mom of the office. She is extremely personable, very nice and very knowledgeable about what Dr. John is looking for before he actually sees you. When I finally got to the office, I knew right away that they had state of the art technology and some of the technology they use I have never had any other dentist/endodontist use on me before. I am all for having up to date technology to diagnose and treat issues that I may be having with my teeth, but this office definitely goes above and beyond for their patients with the type of technology they use, which I love! In the beginning half of my appointment, I was working directly with Autumn, who again is so personable, professional and provides world-class customer service. She helped get all the information from me that Dr. John would need to help diagnose, treat and resolve my tooth issue. After Autumn and I were all set, Autumn provided a full report to Dr. John regarding my pain levels, which teeth were bothersome and a little about me. I thought this type of handoff/team-work was extremely well handled and really helped Dr. John with him taking over. Dr. John is an incredible doctor, his professionalism, passion for what he does and knowledge of how to diagnose and treat your tooth issues is like anything I have seen before. What stood out to me about Dr. John was how nice, personable and how he treats you like you are part of his own family. He does not want to see you in pain and will do what is in the best interest to help his patients. Reminder, he uses the most up to date, state of the art technology which even my own dentist was impressed by the imaging he was able to capture to perform the procedure on my tooth. Dr. John and Autumn, thank you both from the bottom of my heart for your help and helping to relieve my tooth issues. Your professionalism, passion for what each of you do and knowledge of endodontics is truly appreciated and admired. If you are looking for an endodontist, trust me, call Dr. John and get on her calendar, you will not regret it! Him and his team are wonderful and will take good care of you! This was THE best experience I have ever had at a dentist office. I'm am now upset with every other office I've been to because this place definitely sets the standard high. The whole staff is really nice! Devon and Amber helped me get registered and settled both very easy to talk to and AND they brought my a snuggly AND a blanket AND a neck pillow. Oh and I forgot, so I went in with severe toothpaste and I told Devon that I hadn't eaten solid food since Monday and he offered me a protein shake which I declined. Then he was going over the chart and then he had asked me again and this time I said yes (Thank Devon) and he brought out 3 flavors. I chose caramel and when I say good lawd it was delicious...I was honestly confused for a sec at how good it was. Anywho after I was numb the whole think went by so quick and that was definitely with the help of a DVD player that they have positioned perfectly to where you can comfortably watch movies DURING THE PROCEDURE!?!? It was such an awesome experience. It had a very warm and familial vibe and you can tell that Dr. John really cares and I am very happy to have made the visit.

I wanted to publicly thank both Autumn (who scheduled the appointment) and Dr. John for their extraordinary levels of professionalism and compassion. I made an appointment for my husband who has a fairly rare medical condition (in addition to a tooth that needed to be evaluated). Autumn was extremely kind and patient with me as I explained the situation, and again when my husband arrived for his appointment. In advance of the appointment, Dr. John researched the disease so he was as prepared as possible. I would recommend Dr. John and his staff to anyone who wants the highest level of care.

Allowed me to book a sort of free consultation if you will, to just take a look. After looking at the xrays I provided and taking a look in my mouth, he said the pain was most likely due to my braces and not a root canal. Me being relieved, had no problem paying for the consultation which was $150. In short, he instead decided to talk me into an additional $250 worth of xrays that took 3min (which I already had at my orthodontist) just to tell me what he already had. After that he proceeded to talk my ear off as to lessen the blow of just ripping off for $400 in less than 10min.

I was referred by my dentist to assess whether my #6 tootth (upper right eyetooth) needed a root canal or not. I received an indepth education about the diagnostic processes that could be implemented. Very professional staff and pristine appearence of exam room. I felt confident that I was in extremely good care at all times.

Dr. John saved my life! I was in such excruciating pain from a failed root canal 8 days prior. My Christmas was ruined because of how much pain I was in and I called this office in desperation as every other office was closed till after new year's. He took me in and they gave me impeccable care! I'm truly so grateful to the doctor and staff for being attentive and gracious in a really difficult time in my life. Thank you so much Dr. John.

Dr. John is awesome, I feel he really looks out for his patience's best interest. He really seams to care about his patience's and not do unnecessary work. It's refreshing to find a professional who's goal to do right by his patience's! I appreciate all the time he spent with with me, to discuss options provide referrals and make sure I was taken care of. His staff even called me the next day to make sure I was being taken of. I've done business with Pinnacle Endodontics for about 7 years. I've had quite a few root canals done in my life and the work done by Dr.John and his staff is noticeably better and more comfortable than any work I've had done previously.
