On the twenty fourth of October, I encountered quite a belittling experience at the hands of Mindy, "supposed" office manager, for Pinecrest Endodontics; at the genesis of my initial call with her, I, of course, tried to book an appointment & had posed the question as to whether or not UOUSOD was correct in stating that this provider now accepts Medicaid; I had posed the question concerning as to whether or not I was correct in thinking there was a duration of time in which this practice stopped taking this form of insurance as I had recalled calling this practice historically; upon which, Mindy confirmed that was indeed the case. When the conversation transitioned into making the appointment, she had hung up on me. I was quite perplexed as to why this was the case; I immediately sensed something was amiss with this woman, but had surmised that her hanging up was merely a mistake. When I tried to call back once more, the phone rang as opposed to being answered; for that reason, I waited a duration of fifteen minutes before I called back just in case she was busy addressing an issue that prevented her from picking up. When I called fifteen minutes later, she picked up & again, once more, I sensed something was quite amiss with her behavior; I had provided her a chronology of events; the impetus behind why I desired to visit with this office to begin with as it pertained to the failed root canal and subsequent retreat failure at another practice; that it was my desire to engage in a consult to verify what I was already cognizant of; that this retreat had failed. She had stated that her hanging up was "Her mistake", but that she found herself inundated with "Medicaid patients calling constantly". I found that statement to be offensive, as though Medicaid patients are worth less somehow and a mere nuisance; I made her aware that Medicaid patients are calling her with a good deal of frequency only because they were the only provider who addressed Endodontic care with my insurance plan and that I was certain that was most likely the case with the other Medicaid plans that existed as well. Roughly thirty minutes later, I had recalled that Mindy booked me for merely a thirty minute appointment, because of the gag reflex in which I am in possession, a mere x-ray has always proven to be quite an arduous experience; for that reason, I had called back as a matter of respect to see if Mindy felt it would be advantageous to book for a longer duration of time in order to ensure that I didn't infringe upon another appointment. When I began the call, I had apologized for calling her once more, yet had found that dental offices always respected someone who conveyed the issue with a gag reflex as that allowed them to book ample time; after going out of my way to be kind to this woman she stated quite abrasively "I only work in the front , I have nothing to do with what happens in the back"; I had conveyed to her that I , of course, was cognizant of that fact, but knew she had the ability to make the practitioner apprised to ensure that her office was compensated adequately by booking for enough time & that I didn't infringe on another patient. She rudely stated: "We're an Endodontic office, we don't work that way". She then had the sheer audacity to state the following: "You sound more like a salesman than a human." and went on to state "We don't want to find ourselves in the middle of a lawsuit; I can refer you to someone else." I highly doubt a non-biased opinion could ever come to fruition via this provider and I most certainly haven't the intention of being disrespected by someone in such an audacious fashion. Apparently to this woman, I am devoid of value as I am on Medicaid. I try to exude civility, decorum, and respect to those I encounter, if that is not returned, only toxicity can enter the equation. I am writing to properly memorialize this vast misconduct that has come to fruition. Suffice it to say, I take such audacious misconduct quite seriously. A formal complaint shall be formed.

Dr Barrowes and his staff were very kind, courteous and professional. Heidi was a joy too speak with. Dr Barrowes went over options with me and listened to my opinion as well. We came up with a crate plan together. I highly recommend them to you. I will be going back

I had immense tooth pain. I was so grateful that Pinecrest was able to get me in so quickly. The dr and staff are so gentle and kind. The dr has amazing bedside manner and was extremly compassionate and understanding of my extreme dental phobia. I barely felt anything! Will definitely go back if I need another root canal. Thank you for your kindness and compassion!

Drove all the way from Taylorsville to have my 11 year olds root canal done on her front tooth and he was horrible with her and I advised them before making the appointment that she would be ok with me holding her hand and him talking her through it. So then he tried to make me sit in the corner and told her, your mom will have to sit out in the waiting room if you don't cooperate. Wow just wow. A root canal is scary for adults let alone a child. And it's pretty sad his assistant mumbled an apology as we got up. I'll take her somewhere else. So disappointed..

Do not use this endodontist! They are liars. They rip off people. They called me and now want half of the down payment, which I can not afford it. Most people can't afford that. Eldon, trys to rip off people because he is greedy and wants money.

Him and his staff are so kind. He is very detailed and careful and I appreciate that you don't feel like he's rushing the job. He is very good at correctly numbing on the FIRST round which makes the experience even easier

A visit to Dr. Barrowes was well worth the 500 mile round trip. He's done two procedures for me and helped alleviate a lot of pain. This office is very thorough, very upfront with all of their billing, and I'm very glad to have found them. An A+ for this specialist, and highly recommend him.

Doc was top-notch. His 40 years of experience showed, from the initial consult to the injections to the work itself. He was pleasant, he actually went over my "where does it hurt" form with me to make sure he understood perfectly what the issues was. They covered me with a protective pad when they took X rays. He took great care to make sure he figured out which tooth was the one with the issue, and then explained his analysis very thoroughly and also took. Now for the actual procedure: that was the EASIEST injection I've ever had -- almost completely Painless. And from that point on, it was smooth sailing.

Dr. Barrowes is meticulous and definitely an expert. After moving, I have to drive 6 hours to see him but it is well worth the trip and time and the only dentist I trust for root canals.

I took my 8 year old here to check a tooth she had broken over the weekend. The doctor repeatedly took off his mask for conversations, and complained about the high number of children in our area. He refused to numb my daughter and so I asked if he had gas. He said they did, but discouraged me from using it because of the $50 fee. At one point my daughter was screaming and crying and thrashing so much that he became impatient with her and slugged her in the arm. He was apologetic afterwards, but too little too late, honestly. We will not be going back and I encourage those with children to find other offices first. This guy obviously can't handle kids.

My 8 year old daughter broke both her adult front teeth eventually causing one of them to abscess and need a root canal. Pinecrest was the only Endodontist I could find in the Utah valley that took my insurance! Dr. Barrowes was very calm and patient with my daughter who gets quite nervous for shots. He spent a good 20 plus minutes with her showing her all the tools and equipment and how they work to help distract her and ease her anxiety. The assistant was equally fun and did everything to make it a fun, child friendly experience, even making a balloon out of a glove and letting her draw a face. We had to wait and come back for the procedure as we needed to wait for our insurance to preauthorize it. She left that day saying she loved that dentist and was excited to come back and less nervous for her procedure. I feel Dr. Burrows has tons of experience and I was confident in his plan and prognosis. He spent a lot of time thinking and discussing the options we had and took the time to answer all my questions and concerns. In the end we decided to take an additional step and put a medicine up in the tooth for a few weeks to truly clear out the infection as the antibiotic did not fully clear it up. Sure enough when we went back to finish the root canal four weeks later the infection was completely gone and the bone was beginning to regenerate. During all the procedures he took time to make sure my daughter was comfortable and if she said anything hurt he was sure to adjust it or do what was needed to make her more comfortable. He was very thorough and did a great job! Her teeth look and feel so much better! Thank you Dr. Barrowes!

Great doctor and staff! Highly recommend! I needed 4 root canals (my previous dentist kept telling me everything looked great, but obviously wasn't). I was referred to Dr. Barrowes by my new dentist. He's done a great job! There have been no complications with the root canals he did. I felt he and his staff were very thorough and very knowledgeable. His office is clean and ran on time. Highly recommend!
